I Built a Trailer With a Crane For Retrieving Caged Farmers! (Scrap Mechanic Survival Ep.18) 

For anyone who had trouble getting this to work, here are some detailed instructions... First row of gates: "OR" / "AND"/ "NOR" Second row: "OR" / "NOR" Third row: "AND" / "AND" Controller Row: "SWITCH" / "BUTTON" / "BUTTON" In the first row: Connect the "OR" gate to the "AND' gate, then the "AND' gate to the "NOR" gate, and then the "NOR" gate to the "OR" gate. That will give you a pulsing loop. In the second row: Connect the "NOR" gate from the first row to the "OR" gate and the "NOR" gate in the second row. In the third row: Connect the "OR" gate from the second row to the1st "AND" gate in the third row, now connect the "NOR" gate from the second row to the 2nd "AND" gate in the third row. In the controller row: Connect the "SWITCH" and both "BUTTONS" to the driver chair. Now connect the #1 "SWITCH" to the "AND" gate in the first row, then both the "AND" gates in the third row. Now connect the #2 "BUTTON" to the "NOR" gates in the first and second rows. Now connect the #3 button to the "OR" gates in the first and second rows. Now make an array of two pistons with one block in between them. Example: "BLOCK" / "PISTON" / "BLOCK" / "PISTON" / "BLOCK". Now connect the First (one on the left) "AND" gate in the third row to the inner most "PISTON" on the piston array, now connect the 2nd "AND" gate (the one on the right) in the third row to the outer most "PISTON" on the piston array. Remember to set all the pistons to the exact same settings for the best result. Now get in the driver chair, the control should work like this: "SWITCH" #1 should turn off the pulsing loop and retract the pistons. "BUTTON" #2 should retract the pistons, and "BUTTON" #3 should extend the pistons. Hope this helps...

If the trailers get pushed back when you try to connect them, you should replace the bottom block of the trailer legs with a higher friction materiel.

I wanted to share some information regarding garment boxes. There are a total of 82 different clothing. You unlocked 26 last time I believe. So you have 56 more. I think you can get them all from common garment boxes (but don’t quote me on that). So you might only need 280, or you might need quite a bit more.

THe pistons make for some really fun stuff. Most people build an elevator. I built shafts and use timed pistons on my vehicles to climb up into the air instead lol. I built the same cran setup connected to a rock / lumber mill for harvesting too.

Build a platform on the top of your wall with a ramp that can be lowered for driving in and out. Then you can turn the under side into your house. That way turning around inside your base can be left to the small vehicles while the truck sits up top with easy exiting.

One thing that would be very useful, in the trailer, put a sensor behind the pin, as soon as it locks with the truck it retracts the support.

Hey Kan - Nice ideas. I built a car which has active vertical sawblades in the front and sides. The back is covered with flat sawblades. The car framework is small with double tires, as the saws are large. Suspension on each wheel has to upgraded 3 times. The SawCar works flawlessly, I can drive around anywhere and mow all the bots to smithereens. It's also great for defending farms. Simply drive around your plot and shred everything. It also destroys whole trees in next to no time. Would be nice to see you make one as they are most awesome.

cool! human trafficking... oh and to reach optimal steering radius, make the front concrete and then make the steering angle about 30 to 35 degrees. 45 is absolutely useless, as it will just slip.

Headlights go out in a huge wide cone. Paint some white. set them to max. Buil big struts way up in the air. I know from experience that you can light the entire trader canyon so that youd never know it was night time there with about 15 headlight put way up and pointed down towards the ground.

Make another trailer atached to your other trailer for anything like food or farmers. Like a road train with the weels on the trailers being able to turn so it won't be hard to drive around.

You should really address the understeer on your big rig. you could move your back wheels further back, add a whole bunch of metal to the front, or knowing you, you could do some crazy dynamic braking system that brakes one set of wheels when turning a certain way.

Do you have a tutorial on these types of cranes? I've always wanted to build one, but I don't know how.

The next trailer: a gatling gun with a tanky body

When you get to the trader to drop things off, turn left once you come through the wall opening. You should be able to just pull straight through with minimal backing up

Make a lid on the trailer so there is less risk when catching air and offroading

When I did this I made a big cannon and it was amazing do you think you could make one to coz my dezine sucks it was just a piston that pushed it through a tube

The harvesters make really cool roadsters if you have big wheels in the back

Hi Kan, if You make your trailer 17 wide you can fit two farmers next to each other and have capacity of 14 farmers also i've got same setup for hooking up a trailer and there is simple solution to solve your sliding trailer issue during hooking up. You just need to make legs 1 block longer and add another block of height clearence on truck hooking part (either raise the part with pipes or dig 1 block lower) then adjust the trailer pin if needed it works perfecty for me.

You should make the trailers attachable to each other. For this one, you should bring the crane to it's side.

You should turn your semi truck into a multi purpose truck by adding a built-in bed with foldable sides that is flush with the fifth wheel (also extend the truck chassis) with the ability of converting into a normal truck by detaching the trailer then unfolding the side panels

You should make the trailer 2 blocks wider just in case you can’t fit a 7 or just make it where u can have 8 farmers other than that I love it and you are doing so well keep it up

You should build a vehicle storage area for all of your trailers and cars

You can use the weld tool on the caged farmers and even put them in your inventory

I have a theory that I can't test rn because of missing school work but I believe that if you put a suspension on the pin it would allow for the trail to be higher up than the front so the front wheels would have my friction allowing for better turning _

consider a stretched Rig hosting the crane leaving the entirety of the trailer for cargo. note that you could have grabbed a 7th or even an 8th caged farmer and leave him in the claw for the trip

you could extend the crane over the trailer twoards the truck to act as a barrier to make sure they dont bounce out. if needed.

I got a pretty good idea for activating some light on the trailer so you can see your trailer cargo at night. Ao you replace the t piece on thw trailer hitch with a level 5 sensor facing forward and then select a color for it to detect. On the truck head hitching system, replace the "walls" of the inside of it with a pistin that raises a "wall" with the color you selected in the sensor and xonnect the piston to a switch or button. Now connect the sensor to whatever on the trailer and you got trailer lights controlled from the driver seat.

You should make pin able to turn freely. That should lower collisions between truck and pin.

7th can be added by grabbing with crane and keep it held in the crane and lowered down on top of trailer. the crane will hold it in place

You should make a "sun roof" you can toggle so the top opens and closes, when you get a bumpy road they'll stay in

Never been so early! How about building a sniper tower that has a water cannon and studying gun in the bottom? I got an idea for a trailer upgrade : make it 2 layers and make the inner layer go up, The inner layer has the sleeping/living quarters. Then you can open the side of the outer layer like a sliding door and you can use it for storage for cages or stuff. Thus, a very good trailer. The inner layer has an empty side where the sliding door is. Just add a balcony or something so you can shoot the farm bots if you extend the inner layer Edit : sorry if it's hard to understand. TLDR : Telescopic trailer with 2 layers with the inner layer going up

You sir are a legend... i have had trouble keeping a trailer hitched without it glitching out of the hitch mechanism.. i use a tractor to haul trailers and don't see me being able to use your method... everybody uses a semi so i wanted to be different but the struggle is real... love your vids bro. Kahn you could add weight to the truck (and make it look good) by giving the truck a bumper that protrudes about a block from the front. make it out of metal.

Now, adjust the trailer that the 1. crane can be moved outta way 2. Make the ground of the trailer be tiltable That way, unloading would also work and look like a charm :D

Make a sensor under the trailer with colur setting to pull up the legs when the trailer is locked to the truck, and deploy it when you unlock it So you don’t need to get out of the truck to push the button on the trailer every time (The trailer have to rotate around the sensor so when it locked it doesn’t get out of position and deploy the legs when you turn)

Put a bearing on top of the pin on the trailer. Instantly better turning. I said the same thing on your first video when you made a trailer

Clip the front corners of the front of your trailers to give you a bit more room while turning

you can put a block on some farmers then remove the block then you can get the farmers in your inventory

You should build steering on the trailers and when you go to hook up a trailer you have to take out your conection tool to hook the steer up to the seat. Like hooking up lights on a real trailer but your hooking up a steering axel.

That crane is insane! Nice work

I think weight of trailer lifts front wheels and they dont have enough grip. Maybe add pistons to the back wheels of the truck so you can raise the back

for harvesting wood and stone you could create a second crane trailer, just instead of a claw, its a saw/drill

The truck is called a cab over and the trailer is called a flatbed with a lift or crane attachment. My husband and I used to own a cab over. It's called a cabover style because the cab is over the engine instead of out front of the truck like a Kenworth or Peterbilt. Of all the trucks a cab over has the shortest turn radius and even if you get that truck through , you will never get that trailer through driving like that. You should have it parked to drive straight out and can be backed straight in the gate.
