excuse me but your wrong, you cannot possibly get cancer from reading comments, building a homemade xray machine is way worse……. do you get it? do you get the joke? because im being sarcastic… you know because im writing a stupid comment
And what are your qualifications? Are you a professional comedian?! 😂 I’m just kidding around. I don’t know what’s wrong with those kind of people. Maybe jealous of William? He makes some of the best videos on YT and I’m so happy he didn’t quit. That “I’m Done” video broke my heart. And how typical when confronted the person chickens out. And you know William still wouldn’t of been rude if they did talk. I’m really glad he made this video.
I just love the fact that Evan casually got a job offer and then realized it was actually William Osman. Imagine getting a random job offer and it's actually just William Osman bullying you
I can't have been the only one who got excited when you pulled out the grinder because I was hoping you were going to cut the point off and make it into a flat shovel.
what's even funnier, I guarantee there are comments telling him how bad that brushed car wash is ( it's really bad for your paint ) as he's talking about people not having to leave those comments. I bet he went through that specific car wash on purpose
I love how William was so offended by Evan that he tracked him down, catfished him on LinkedIn and tricked him into signing a bogus contract all to prove that he had no idea what he was talking about in some RU-vid comments
If a fire is emitting x-rays, we've got a very, very, very serious problem. We've been struck by lightning while standing in a fire. I can't quite put my finger on where the safety violation would be in such a case... ;) No, that's OK, I can find the door...
imagine insulting a RU-vidr on the internet, and then a while later, he starts calling you and telling you to face him like a man. I can only imagine pure terror
Former landscape laborer here: Flatheads are perfectly fine for digging holes, especially a rectangular hole where you would want nice corners and flat sides. They can also move more material than a spade, making digging with them and scooping material out of the bottom of the hole quicker.
If the ground is moist, soft or broken up already, sure. The stuff he was dealing with? Nah. It's all he had, like he said, but for tough, dry, packed earth, you need that point to break it loose.
@@raggedvagabond7537 Yeah I could see that I always used a flathead shovel for loose stuff and transferring materials from one place to another. The pointed shovel I always used to break up packed earth, of course you could use a pick to break up the surface.
As someone whose job is mostly digging holes and shoveling various material, I too noticed that it was the wrong shovel and I understand the impulse behind wanting to express some of my shovel knowledge. But I’m proud to report that I did not comment about it. I did the reasonable thing and went into my yard and yelled about it
All jokes aside, what you do is arguably very important. You, along with people like NileRed, Styropyro and Explosions&Fire are providing a medium in which younger audiences can learn about things within the scientific field and also enjoy learning about it. The goofiness and outlandish projects are a hook, and the science (while sometimes dangerous) is legitimate. If we had teachers like you in schools, kids would be smarter, and that’s a hill I’ll die on.
I completely agree, but for Will a “lesson” takes months to produce, as he’s got to come up with an idea, execute it, come up with goofs along the way, edit it, potentially find some sponsor so that he actually profits from the video. Meanwhile lectors just sit down for an hour and write down notes for the lecture, which they can re-use when they get appointed new students.
As a cyber security specialist I believe that your OSINT and social engineering skills presented in this video were completely on point. Job well done!
@@gargikadikar8228 OSINT stands for open-source intelligence. It's basically using public info (usually the Internet, like how Big Willy found Evan's LinkedIn page) to attain important data (like Evan's professional and educational experience, as well as a method of contact). The social engineering comes in when Willy makes a LinkedIn profile and poses the job offer to Evan, which gets Evan to do what Willy wanted in the first place without cluing Evan in.
@@gargikadikar8228open source intelligence, meaning jn this context he got his name, phone number, and email presumably just from his youtube channel. Or it can mean just having someones name or email, and using osint, meaning google and database search results, social media profiles, etc, to find out more information, like their address.
This guy has two engineering degrees and tried to kill Shrek with a shovel lol, I have been a certified Shrek expert for 40 years and everyone knows that a sword is the correct tool for the job... At least he has the correct shovel to bury the body afterwards.
@@ShadowebEB Man, instead of an engineer, maybe I should've been a graverobber instead...just thinking of learning the art of shovel-fu...I guess it's never too late
Supremely disappointed you didn't get an interview with Evan. I am always fascinated by people who just make stuff up on the internet for no apparent reason. Would have loved to see you pick his brain.
As a certified connoisseur in X-rays, I can confirm that the beans used to construct the X-ray were the wrong flavor to give a clear image. Had you used jelly beans instead of baked beans you would have gotten better transmission of the x-rays and could have cured your diseased pancreas from the appendicitis. Just glad you're alright
I love how everyone takes what William does so seriously, like the amount of controversy behind over a god damn shovel was the funniest thing I have ever seen.
I think he made a very good point about people wanting to be part of the discussion and looking smart so they grasp at the first thing they can. Also you can very well dig a hole using that type of shovel. I did a 30 ft long trench that's 14" deep with one and it did just as good a job as my normal digging shovel, actually better since it made a straight line. Now digging a grave... maybe not
He wasn't wrong to dig the hole with a square shovel... I'm an archaeologist and we use that in addition to a spade, that's why we have such square excavation units. Just my little contribution here lol
Coming from a landscaper, I didn’t even realize you used a square and not a spade shovel. Those are just the trolls calling they can get a one up on an engineer, that’s why so many mentioned your degrees. If you don’t piss people off you’re not doing it right. I love your content William, God bless
This guy has two engineering degrees and yet he uses a shovel to cut off Shrek's head. Shovels don't remove the heads of ogres? This is a hoax. Coming from an industrial swamp monster technician. It's a nicely done bit, but you need a sword or at least a pitchfork. You lose.
@@dumbtex6107 As a former apprentice blacksmith's assistant's receptionist I have to point out that you're completely wrong because I know better than you. Period.
Oh dear! Poor Evan. We call this karma... Or just William proving he's a total genius (with 2 degrees). And hi Cassandra! Why am I not surprised to see you here!
I died at "my name -a- jeff." After watching this and your "I'm Done" videos, I feel it really has been some of the most meaningful content I have ever watched on youtube. I pray you're able to feel confident in yourself despite outside influences, and that people would be awakened to what they're offhand comments do due to these videos, or those like them.
As a recent X-Ray tech that just spent 2 years learning how the X-ray tube works, “cranking the pellet” is absolutely hilarious and I will be using it at work
We used to use the old wrap the film around a weld on a pipe and “cranking the pellet” to x-ray refinery piping, the thing is Evan knows nothing about the new digital sensor plates in medical.
@@SidneyCritic i wonder how old Evan is he kinda sounded older. Tech is constantly changing and it would be really hard to keep up with everything. That’s why it’s usually better to specialize.
@@SidneyCritic Yeah, as soon as I heard him talking about a pellet of radioactive material I knew it couldn't be medical he's familiar with. No x-ray machine used in medicine contains a pellet of anything: All medical x-rays are generated using electricity and an x-ray tube. But they do still use physical sources for various industrial applications.
To be fair solid & liquid sources are used loads in medicine e.g. HDR sources in brachytherapy, cobalt LINACs for radiotherapy (although this is old tech now), radionucliides for nuclear medicine, although I suppose these would technically be gamma rays rather than x-rays
@@Audiodump Yeah the pellet thing made me think of the older therapy devices that used high dose sources in a special set of interlocking cylinders that rotate. Cesium powder badness. I guess if you inspect gas pipes you rather not have an electrical source but... a radioactive source still transfers energy that can end up as heat anyway? And just not to confuse anyone: I have absolutely no industrial or medical knowledge of X-Rays or other radiation sounces.
I don’t think people understand the irony behind his videos. Yes he’s very smart but his channel is just about being smart in a dumb way. It’s not meant to be serious and that’s what makes it good
Yes, indeed. That's part of what makes this channel so nice. I hate those ridiculous safety rants and "leave this to the professionals" kind of crap, that we see in many other channels. Since those creators don't have a clue who is watching and what knowledge they have, it feels like an insult to the viewers that all of them are dumbasses who can't think for them self. Much of it is because of RU-vids idiotic policies though. But, it's still very nice with the few people who are not bothered by those and still upload videos this way.
I think those people pointing out the shovel thing were just jealous that you have the ability to make your own x-ray machine. I thought it was pretty cool! Also, love the cat shirts and will have to check them out.
As a 7 PhD in radioactive isatope and x ray, biology of bones, math, and radioactive dimmer, and also a Spanish major in the class of Italian literature, I think the meal at the end looks yum
Yeah that's the right way to buy tools. Buy the cheap option first and see how it goes, only splurge on the more expensive one when the cheap one wears out or if you find you're using it a lot. Then you know it was worth the extra money. I have a drawer full of inferior cheap tools that I've used so rarely it wasn't worth upgrading them to something nicer. But I did upgrade my flush cutters, digital callipers, precision tweezers, screwdriver set, things which I found I was using constantly 😁 TLDR: This guy gave good advice 👍
Hi, as someone that also has a degree in electrical and mechanical engineering i would like to add, that neither of these degrees teach you what shovel to use for digging holes. thank you for listening to my Ted Talk
@@danielk3530 i dont know for the rest of the world, but where i am from you dont have to get one to get the other, i started out with my degree in mechanical engineering, and afterwards realized that i was way more into electrical engineering, so i decided to get a degree in it as well. and from what i see around me this is relatively common, people getting a degree in one thing and then down the line getting a dergee in something else that is somewhat related to it because they realize that the other thing is more interesting to them
@@originalkhawk im asking because I'm studying mechanical engineering in Germany. I have to study for around 4 years to get my bachelor and then another 3ish years for my masters. So do you have two bachelor's then? Because that's super uncommon here in Germany.
and it's not always in the same field, I have a friend who has a bachelors in finance as well as biochemistry. Why did they do that? For them it's job security.
As a biologist. Now that we've cleared all that up, do you want to team up with a molecular biologist youtuber to do some X-ray refraction protein structure imaging!? :D
The idea that William would "fake" results is just hilarious. If you've watched any other videos of his, you'd know that he's 100% legit. And a beautiful 100% insane.
i couldn’t agree more. if you were faking an x-ray wouldn’t you at least make the faked image look clearer and good? the fact that will’s result is off center and not perfect makes it obvious that he actually DID do it with a bean can x-ray setup and didn’t go take professional x-rays or use photoshop. i never suspect william of faking anything because the beauty of his projects aren’t the perfect for-the-camera youtube result all the time. sometimes he messes it up or it doesn’t go as planned and that’s how it went. no “youtube magic”
This is one of the greatest videos I have ever seen. I love it! As an artist I have spent so many hours standing anonymously in my own exhibitions listening to people shit talk the artwork but also enjoy it. I hope you see great comments and not just negative ones.
Honestly this video is a great PSA as to why people shouldn't put their full name on the internet outside of professional spaces (such as linked in), especially if they're going to be obnoxious to others. The speed at which you were able to find, and catfish Evan was concerning, and would be moreso if it was anyone else with malicious intent and the result wasn't so damn funny.
Reminds me of a couple of quotes I use regularly. "Reasoning will never make a man correct an ill opinion, which by reasoning he never acquired". "Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
"yes you can because this isn't mcdonalds so we don't have the ice cream machines designed to fail and be impossible to turn off the error code unless a repair man comes and restarts it even tho it is the same brand ice cream machine"
I'm truly impressed you built an x-ray machine. What other medical devices and services could be done at home??? Since 01, I've dedicated part of my time to making art about my personal experiences with the healthcare system. I've constructed a scale model of a church from all the prescription pill bottles I've collected over the years, a skull from prescription pills, and a 7 foot tall working syringe to stack all my unpaid medical bills on. Making something beautiful out of something that causes misery. Thanks for the inspiration!
William, that edge you got on that shovel is perfect. Glad your engineering degrees are coming in handy. Jokes aside, I watch you because of the "wrong tool for the job" vibe. Nothing is funnier to me than someone clearly smart enough to make an x-ray machine using canned food as a building material. It's just perfection 😙👌
Currently in school for an engineering degree and I was thinking "oh man I hope I learn this in class or I am gonna look like a total idiot." Guess all I got is William and the comments.
I would not have known either until I started working my latest job, spades to dig the holes, flats to remove loose dirt/shape the hole Its not like this is exactly common knowledge how many people nowadays dig hole "the right way"
I'm actually going to finish my engineering degree in audiovisual media next semester, and not only did nobody teach me when to use a shovel, and when to use a spade, I also have very very little knowledge with building stuff that relies heavily on radiation, and just enough knowledge about high voltage to not zap myself, or fry anything, or blow any fuses. The only radiation knowledge I know off the dome is that you're better off being very careful when using metal-halide lamps, because they like to give you sunburn with their UV output, and that's putting aside the dangers of the lamp exploding and spewing hot mercury and glass on people or burning you through direct heat if you touch it. But this knowledge will be very helpful if I ever want to bury the footage of something.
Not only did he made content out of it but said content had a brand integration in it. He truly is SMART. You content creator folks have a lot on your plates in terms of dealing with dumdums in the comments.
My 3 year old son watches your videos and loves them. He even tries to say your intro but it's just skaja abdero. Thank you for making a little kid more interested in art!
The man is clever but doesn't seem to handle trolls as well as a 2m+ sub creator should. At the very least it shows hes a rare type that reads comments
My conspiracy theory about conspiracy theorists making up their conspiracy theories is they make their conspiracy theories just to annoy someone so much that someone will do something and invite them on a plane and then go to get actually physically shown that something is true, just so that they get shown in person for free.
I love that William went out of his way to troll a mean commenter. The balls on this man is astounding, and exposing them to x-rays probably made them bigger.
He needs to make a spin off channel where he just sharpens increasingly strange objects and cuts up cardboard cutouts. Cardboard Johnny Depp vs. A sharpened kitty litter scoop. Cardboard Michael Reeves vs. A sharpened fragment of frozen turkey. That sort of thing. :D
Finding Evan, sending him a fake job offer to get him on the phone, even sending a contract ahead of time so you can use the footage you get, was master-level comedy. Excellent job William
@@Owen.Fallon Meh, depends on how you see the intent I guess. If Will was just putting one guy on blast and encouraging his fanbase to do the same, yeah, petty. Personally, to me, it seems more like Will is attacking the concept of internet trolling and how otherwise normal, nice people become huge assholes online because they think they're anonymous (Which Will pretty much outright states) Add in the fact Will chose to go after a guy proclaiming expertise and offering him the (Paid) chance to demonstrate his expertise and respond to criticism publicly, as well as removing his likeness from the video even though he has the contractual agreement to use it, as opposed to going after a guy who was just spewing toxic nonsense made this seem like an attack on misinformation as well. One thing I know for sure is that Evan probably isn't gonna go around condescendingly deriding people for things he himself only has a passing knowledge on in future, so there's a theoretical net positive of one less troll on the internet.
@@krisjohnston5569 You sure showed that troll! Gottem hahaaa... do they care? He did it for content stop making such a big deal out of it, sounds like something you'll tell your grandchildren about. He used his real name as his username and he didn't entirely know the ins and outs of x-ray machines. Fuck him, right? Bruh people acting morally superior online is so cringe. He just picked one out and blasted him for content, he's not better.
about that shovel nobody noticed that William isn´t a construction engineer or does anything with constriction so its obvious that he whould dig with square shovel
I love how he also made catherine hot so he had the honey trap set for Evan as well. I have degrees in mechanical engineering, astrophysics, law, neurosurgery, and english literature so my opinion is more valid than yours. Ps every class i took explicitly stated the importance of choosing the right shovel, because that is totally what they teach in university. Don't blame shrek for your lack of shovel etiquette.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone go to such lengths to try and discredit a RU-vid comment but I think this may of been the best thing I’ve ever watched…

Just because you have major depression doesn’t mean you have a major in depression Jk I just thought of that and thought it was pretty funny, no offense meant
since he wanted to slice the cardboard in one cut, a sword would have been perfect. anyway I agree, a spade to cut cardboard? He has a fucking engineering degree how does he not know spades are used to dig holes?
Hey Willy, engineer here. I can tell the x-rays must have had some kind of an effect because you looking good fam. Clean cut, in shape, x-ray fresh 👀💪⚡🧲💥💯
That X-ray thing video actually made me to subscribe today. I'd never seen a single video, so had no idea what your channel is about. Instantly loved it! Not even because of all the questionable things you did with high voltage stuff and get away with.
While the electric shock COULD be more dangerous to William than the X-Ray dose he got, I'm fairly confident he knows enough about what he's doing to you know... like, not kill himself with electricity.
Y'know, you said "Armchair Engineer" and my brain came to the conclusion that is was a hyper-specialized category of engineer that makes seating apparatuses.
In my language we have a saying that roughly translates in English to "The hollowest reed makes the most noise". In short those with the least amount of authority or knowledge on a subject are typically the ones who have the most to say. Don't let these guys ruffle your feathers like this William. You're not an idiot, you wouldn't willingly put your life at risk if you know that whatever project you're doing has a high chance of causing SERIOUS injury or death. Keep making the good content dude! Much love from South Africa
There's something called the Dunning-Kruger effect, which basically states that the more you know (about any specific topic, eg. math), the less sure you are about the topic. It's a bit strange but it means that people who know the least are the most confident in their assertions.
@@jojough8283 What you're explaining reminds me of that video that did the rounds not too long ago where a group of random people were asked to rate themselves according to IQ based off of their qualifications, jobs and impressions just by looking at each other vs. an actual professional IQ test.
