I took an Arrma Typhon and Granite and smashed them together. The result was less than impressive.... Support me on Patreon. For $3 I make extra videos every week that you can enjoy ad-free! Patreon.com/10thscalegarage
It sure looked cool. I think it's great when you can experiment and reconfigure a car to they way you like it. Hopefully you get the bugs worked out. Thanks for sharing your build. 👍👍
i got my new granite 3S BLX in oct around the time the big rock came out and have loved it but might have changed my order if the big rock was in stock.lol i lick the longer chassis for high speed and the wider axles but i have had no complaints about the granite. 50.3mph outta the box but it can get away so easy at those speeds. its a skatepark superstar too. the frankentruck just isnt sure what its supposed to be.lol wheels that big but blows a rear end as soon as its off pavement?
I just got finished doing this except used 2.8 belted Trencher tyres. It looks very nice but so far I'm having trouble with stabilty, one slight wrong move and Its game over. I have some regular unbelted badland tyres, might give those a try, see if they help. Great video BTW.
So just out of curiosity, did you swap the Spur/pinion to the 3S version? I saw the Typhon was the Mega version, the spur/pinion on that thing has a crappy ratio. Def recommend getting one from a 3s, they sell it plastic for around $50 or metal for around $75
Just convert it to a Big Rock all you need is the rear body post, a LWB side guard set and the a Big Rock body. Put some ProLine Badlands 2.8 on and it would be awesome. I converted my Typhon 3s to a Big Rock. I swap between it being a Typhon and a Big Rock depending on the surface. It takes less than a hour to swap between the two.
Cool build man, I like arrma Frankenstein's 🤣 I have 2. One started life as a 3s Senton but is now a short course Kraton with a 6s power system lol. The other was a 6s Kraton but is now a outcast that's 8s capable but I'm very pleased to report they are the muts nuts matey. Both truck are way over a year old so don't look so pretty but are reinforced bash beasts, having bought any more cars since just put all my money and effort into these two here and I don't regret a thing. My short course Kraton is amazing on 3s with bald katar tyres on tarmac and off road I run badlands xtr the thing is on rails, 2050kv 6s Kraton motor with 20t pinion. I could go up to 26t but I like 20 for if I want to run 6s backflip MTs. The rear drive shafts had to be upgraded, standard one twist and snap in minutes, front shafts sho no sign of wear... A problem with running the big 6s motor is that 20t is the lowest I can go or the centre drive shaft is in the way, not really a problem if you have the right motor. All my deferentials and drive pinions, slipper ect are stock and are the same ones that came with the truck over 14 months ago. Inside the diff housings where the cup lives was bone dry so I filled it full of grease ✌
Just converted a mega Senton to a 3s. You need the HD metal input shaft and slipper assembly. Diffs are grease filled in the mega and just need to be cleaned and filled with fluid.
I completely converted my Brushed Mega Granite to a 3s Brushless Granite. All the parts from a 3s BLX. Wasn’t cheap. The last thing I want to do is swap my short chassis to the long chassis. I’m assuming all I would need is the chassis and longer driveshaft.
Those tires are redonkulas!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I like the idea, you said you have to much $$$ in it, if you put a smaller tire on it I think it will run better and less stress on the mechanicals. I know more $$$, more problems!! 😆😆 Stay safe and bash on from Colorado!
They’re different kind of motors. There’s lots of information out there on them, but long story short, brushless motors abs typically spin faster and handle more power.
She might have been okay if you just would have left Granite tires on her and I would definitely say go get yourself an outcast 4s if you can find one if not just wait a month I'm sure they're going to be refreshed here pretty soon
Very bad financial decisions have brought me here. I've owned a Granite for 7 days. Bent motor mount, broken mount casing, bald tires, rear body almost completely missing... and then I find out that ALL replacement parts are back-ordered. Oh well! More bad financial decisions... M2C Motor mount, Pro-Line Badlands MX28 belted tires, and duct tape for the body! What's is going to break next? My guess, front arms, or steering knuckles. SO MUCH FUN!!!
@@10thScaleGarage If you do a conversion, I'm going to do the same, lol! Already ordered my Shredder and Kailu tires from Joe, so Merry Christmas to ME, haha! 😁😁😁🥳🥳🥳
Pirate2 9116 C-Hub Spacers.... tho I have a Extra pair, I tried something else. A Insulin Syringe Cut to length and with a Wide enough Slit down it to squeeze it in (1mm or so). Works just fine. Also 4mm stainless steel machine screws are just a hair larger but still screwed in. So those are 3.5MM??? Super Glue should hold them in now. Well, lets see what the 3rd Run will bring on the Same original battery charge ( already at a good 50minute run time ) . What will fall apart this time???? 😃 😃 😃
@@10thScaleGarage i have 2.8 trenchers in great condition if you wanted to work out a trade and some $ on my end. Just throwing it out there if you can't find a home for them.
Those input shafts are garbage. I think you did ok but maybe smaller tires😂. They as wide as the truck. If it says Granite anywhere, you know I'm in! Great video.
@@10thScaleGarage If you ever think of selling those wheels or trade for some 4s outcast tires I have some very lightly used ones. Maybe run 3, 4 times if that
Just build a Xmaxx like I am about to do these arrmas suck I break my truck every other time I drive it bs my buddy just bought a big rock and broke it the first run about to post a real video about arrma bec ppl act like there durable or something and that’s false can’t even lock tight the drive axles
