That's par for the course for Traxxas. They've always been $50-$100 more than comparable vehicles for worse equipment and outdated designs. There's something to be said for their parts availability and non-waranty-related customer support but that's it. And it doesn't help that Traxxas is a huge patent troll either.
No clue what Traxxas was thinking having this truck closer to the Max’s price point and yet putting the Ultra shocks and that flippin 2075 slow, weak plastic geared servo in it!!! Shame on you Traxxas. I still love ya tho. But dam that’s not cool.
I struggled to understand its placement if they're going to continue selling new models of the Stampede 4x4. For that matter I thought the max was also considered a 1/10 scale.
Decent comparison dude. I agree the Granite being the best out of the 3. In the UK though the MT10 is about $100 cheaper than the Granite and $250 cheaper the Hoss! So that would have been #1 for value if I was scoring. Arrma 3s range are killing it! 😎👌
My nephew will get the Granite for his birthday tomorrow. 🤓 The whole family is really excited and can't wait to finally see the truck in action and of course to see the smile on the face of our family's little RC fanatic. 🥰 I was very happy to see your review today and of course that the Granite won your shootout. 😊 PD: Love your videos by the way!
Would love to see your opinion about the Redcat’s new RC-MT10E. Looks like a bad ass truck for the price. Only the traxxas faithful will buy a hoss. $479 is absolutely ridiculous. With steel CVDs. Gtr shocks. A metal gear servo. And a fan on the motor. Then MAYBE. But the fact that I can buy an arrma granite for $150 less. I would get $150 worth of upgrades and it would be even better then the hoss.
@@kenmastersmaster a 10 year old platform? no thanks. i never use the warranty anyone. electronics fry? just get new stuff. but frying electronics is a traxxas thing. i would get an arrma big rock for vorteks for over $100 less. only suckers buy this hoss
@@DavidFernandez-sc5ws lol the arrma platform looks like a bangcock special. Traxxas esc is 200 amps. Never fried one. Don't want a 10 year old car buy a maxx. Oh that's right you can't afford one
Nice coverage of 1/10 monster trucks. That said, you penalize the associated truck for weak front sway bars, but pre-emptively replace shocks on an over priced traxxas truck and award it first place for design?? Wtf, these ratings must be industry influenced, ie, who asked you to do this review?
You didn't really say anything about it but I'm really surprised to see that you put the granite third for support. in my experience horizons support is every bit as good as traxxas.
Lacked some details. Ranking system. You didn't tell us the total points for each truck. You did not show us ground clearance and suspension travel for each. You didn't discuss upgradeability. You didn't rank the ease of maintenance. I'm pretty sure I like the MT10 best but cannot tell based on your review.
@@mikealls8938 which is what I find really annoying when people in the us talk up traxxas, they aren’t bad but they aren’t worth £500, especially when they aren’t indestructible
1/10 scale 4x4 monster trucks should not cost more than $300 especially when they use $200 buggy chassis with bigger wheels etc But l get they re popular bashers so they sell lots
bought it about 6 months ago and havent looked back mine seem to come well built only problem i have had is the servo, but no prob dropped a 25kg servo ,plenty plenty, plenty.thanks again for all your input.keep your wheels down and the dirt up.
New to the RC world...was interested in TraxxASS but clearly WAAAY overpriced. What turned me off Traxxas the most was how they litigate/harass RU-vidrs (RCSailor) and sue competitors with their ridiculous lawsuits which stifles advancement. Add on Traxxas proprietary connectors and it's an easy call.. It's Arrma all the way for me.
Arma should ditch the metal chassis for their bashers altogether. Once the metal chassis bends, it’ll never be the same even if you can bend it back. And it will never be as strong. Composite is chassis the way to go.
I drone and am a DJI fan but have been waiting to get into rc trucks for a long time. Everyone said the Kraton 6s should be my target. Then I saw the price for the entire package including batteries and charger. I just want to have some fun with a decent first time truck that can a light bashing and not break the bank. I feel this video has helped me complete my homework and will get the V3 soon. Thanks for your effort and honest reviews.
@@Mostima115 thanks to its ''low'' (where do you even drive lol) ground clearance, the Kraton actually handles better than a typical MT. (doesn't wheelie and roll over as much) Also I've found the chassis and rear shock tower to bend easily on my kraton but on my typhon, it's been fine. From what I've seen, the 4s kraton is actually more fragile than the 6s. (especially the a arms) The corally cars have brittle a arms and a bad wingmount design (Kronos), also they're more expensive than the arrmas
@@Mostima115 what!? The V5 arrmas are 600! That's crazy. I won't buy one. But where I live, v4 arrmas are cheaper than v2 corallys. Okok, yea the weight definitely isn't optimal and I am honestly a bit disappointed with my kraton (the diffs like to break on 6s) but race cars that weigh less because of the use of more premium materials and cleverer designs also typically cost a lot more and most are kits, not RTRs Also, I usually land on grass, because there is almost nowhere to jump except in a grass field here, which means I haven't had any issues with electrics. Ps: I'm not an expert, but it seems like you are. Sorry for misleading comment above (maybe this one as well idk)
Looking for a monster truck in this range for my brother. I really don't want to get him a Traxxas since I hate the proprietary battery plug and generally everything they stand for, but I feel like the Hoss is the most likely to have parts support 6 years from now. I've had Horizon branded cars/boats and they're ok about discontinued model parts support but not great, and they usually don't produce a model as long as Traxxas. So 5 years from now, the Hoss will likely still be in production (maybe not for long, who knows) whereas probably the Granite and definitely the Associated will not be in production, but there will be some hit or miss parts for them at online retailers and some people selling new-old-stock parts on ebay for them. At this point, even though Traxxas doesn't seem to mention that as a feature, that appears to be something they have going for themselves, which is probably just the result of not changing up your model line that much by making new platforms that aren't based on prior models.
@@kenmastersmaster just got the green one it is a runner, 3s it comes alive, HIGHLY UNDERRATED, I've got the HoSs as well, and love it compared to my maxx both the hoss and rcmt10, are absolutely excellent at the park, light as a feather, I was skeptical about the redcat, however learning about the company a bit and the team of designers they got from the axial group(when horizon hobby took over) have made a world of difference in quality and durability, just look at the gen 2 scout crawler, anyone ACTUALLY believe that was a possibility from redcat say 5 years ago. Nope alot of people bash the "cat" but I'm telling ya REDCAT HAS MOST DEFINITELY STEPPED UP THEIR GAMEPLAN! (not to even mention that beautiful lowrider Chevrolet😎)
So, how much premium would you say the center diff etc should add? Seems more stuff brakes on the other two. Then you have the telemetry as well. Plus the torque is what I want for a monster truck as opposed to really high speed. Hate that folks put down the price on it so much. Tires are nice Center diff Metal gears Very durable I think it is the same value as the Granite personally. Kinda depends on how much having that center diff means to ya. Great vid as always!
Finding it increasingly difficult to justify the cost of a Traxxas vehicle, especially considering what you get for the money. I was sold on the Granite and your videos helped make up my mind but think I am going with the Big Rock V3 - great looking body and a bit wider for increased stability. Oh, and over $200 cheaper than the Hoss (here in Canada).
You will like the granite better if bashing is what you're into which is what these trucks are made for .I have all 4 of arrmas 3s line ( granite , senton, big rock and typhon) and honestly I would choose the granite over the big rock... but for me the best of the 4 is the typhon 3s
@@jerryvolpini7987 yw... oh and by the way.. I have the v3 big rock and it isn't as stable as you might think just because it's a little wider.. believe me or not my v2 granite is more stable and handles a lot better .not to mention it's a wheelie king .. it wheelies even more than my maxx and my xmaxx
Arrma is ugly, just like all Arrmas. You lost me when you said the Associated has the worst radio - as an Element Enduro & TRX4 owner, I can assure you the Traxxas TQ radio is far worse.
Hello, I'm RC player from China. I'm looking at a few models right now: arrma granite V3, teamssociated mt10 and arrma outcast 4S. I prefer arrma's car, but after watching your video, I think mt10 is also very good. I'd like to hear your suggestion. Is it better to choose granite V3 or mt10? Is outcast 4S coming out with a new model (V5)? Thank you very much. --By Google translation
This helped a ton I have the V2 got it last summer and it would over heat constantly then the long screw on bottom vibrated lose and the motor shifted and I think it's the slipper I got a huge gouge down the middle of it,thought a out replacing parts but I'm going to go with the BLX V3 and use any parts I can off the old one.but I was hoping through video you were going to say ARRMA #1 keep up the amazing work brother and Rip That Shit
You can always improve the performance, durability, and handling. But you can't improve the customer support or ease of maintenance. The Hoss is more expensive for several good reasons - Traxxas will actually pick up the phone when you call them, and all Traxxas products have a lifetime electronics warranty.
Really didn’t have to watch this to know the Arrma was going to come in first the other two would be a toss up for me I totally agree with you the Hoss is definitely over priced for what it comes with although if it had been released earlier than it was I probably would have bought one and done all the necessary durability upgrades. I was actually looking for a “Stampede sized” monster truck a while back ended up snatching a close out Proline Pro MT 4x4 unfortunately I didn’t know both it and the SC Fusion were both being dropped with Horizon buying out Proline if only I could have seen that far into the future I guess 🤷♂️
I had a Big Rock Crew Cab, that truck was crazy fast, but was terribly unreliable. never had good luck with Arrma, my Traxxas trucks were much more reliable.
In Germany the Asso MT10 is the cheapest but there are not many shops that sell parts for it. The Hoss is very expensive but you can buy the stampede 4x4 for 100 bucks less. The Hoss needs alumnium shock caps then its close to bullet proof. Parts are cheap and you can get them at every gasstation or supermarket. The Arrma 3s/4s are as expensive as a Stampede 4x4. The shocks are trash and if something breaks it is hell to work on it. But it is very durable. In Germany it is a hell to buy Arrma parts they are hard to get and extremely expensive. I recommend buying the Stampede 4x4 kit with a HW BL kit and the alumnium center drive shaft. The servos of all rtr models are cheapest trash. There is no rtr with a good or better servo you need a better one for each model.
same opinion as you Razor RC, i check the hoss to much money for make change later that are by force and for that the hoss become more expensive, but Arrma brake the but to traxxas more cheap and can be upgraded and cost less compare to hoss. Thanks man
Hey man i haveThe Helion Avenge it has a 3300kv Radiant Reactor system in it. The ESC is programmable but ive had it a while now id id like to add some power to it. Mine has the 3650 in it not the 3652 Helion started them out with. Keeping it on 3s what would u advise on a motor esc combo to give it a boost in performance w/o spending a few hundred. Thanx for any advice.
That arma granate from my experience is pretty god damn crazy but the wheels allways be falling off and need some lock tight to keep them in and the shocks light to fall apart and wheely bar does this amazing thing called fucking exploding and its chassis is ugly with the body on but god damn that thing is wild as shit and when u take it apart its doing all of that with a tiny god damn motor
Granite is a great car but as soon as u said more durable..i immediately write this review off ..i love traxxas and arrma the same but not one arrma is more durable then traxxas out the box ...arrma needs upgrading to be more durable as traxxas is good right out the box ..
One might be best of the 3 but not best comparded to other rc trucks ,traxxas blows iv got 4 and they are always broke but my arrmas dont have alot of problems so my choice wood be any arrma over a traxxas
Awesome video buddy thank you very much👍 Could you please tell me if a hoss body would fit on the granite? I was thinking about buying the hoss body clear unpainted and putting it on my granite if it fits as I like the plastic protectors on them.. I know I would have to drill holes but dimension wise would it fit..
Great Truck, but I disagree on working on it? It’s maybe the easiest truck to work on I’ve been working on R/C cars/trucks over 30 years and was so intrigued by Arrmas design overall. I mean...One main screw and the “whole thing” comes apart to get to your motor. What were referring to as far as what was difficult? This is by far the most innovative designs I have seen yet. Traxxas has some cool stuff too, but the price kills it for me. You get so much bang for your buck going Arrma in any category. Go back 15 years...to get something as fast as the granite, you would have to spend $1000 bucks easy. Today it’s around $350 bucks for V3 truck a battery and charger and boom your in. Turn key I think your in it about $550 bucks.
Nice comparison! I used to have a modified 4x4 brushless Stampede and I recently bought a Typhon 3S. I agree that the design is (way) better on the Traxxas vehicles. I'd also say quality is better, the gear cases and diffs are more durable and let in a lot less dirt to grind up the gears. With that said, my Typhon was cheaper and is more fun to drive! The stock suspension feels miles ahead. I'll need more time with it to decide which platform I like better overall. I'd love it if Traxxas would make a 1/8 buggy with a center diff built on the LCG Slash platform.
Really like all these trucks can't go wrong with the price and upgraded parts just add powerful batteries with charger it's a win win situation 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
Time and time again I see people Break RCs and Front Arms Break Because they Dont know how to Land RC Jumps check out Tomleys review of this, 20 Jumps 30-40' again 30-40'high Most Flatland Landings a 500 dollar Traxxas a 300 MT10 MT10 #3 Hmmmmmm (Lands, jumps, performs Great, durable, ease of work) Granite #1 not so sure Would agree tho V3 vast improvements and is a good solid truck
I think they fixed the problem. Check out everyone who got the first run of the Rival MT10, they all broke arms, but I don't think anyone has been breaking them since.
