First time trying out this new consumer unit ! What do you think ? Don’t forget to check out Jay at the link below jay_the_spark?i... Subscribe 😁 #Electrician #consumerunit #electrical #sparkylife #sparky
Thank you mate. I try and get away with mounting them like that where I can, it’s my favourite way for tidiness and easy off access for future new circuits etc. It’s not always possible to do this tho. Thanks for watching 😊
Haha @7:46 that was awesome. Stuff like that happens to me, I’ll be showing the apprentice something that’s no good and it’ll break or come flying off like that level did and that’ll be it sorted once and for all. Keep the videos coming mate.
I just did some searching and what I see gives me a much better feeling than I get with some other upstart consumer unit vendors. They aren't trying to hide behind a generic unsearchable name. Their website actually has data sheets for their products (though they are rather brief). The officers and persons with significant control have names that sound British. They claim to be commercial associates of the ECA and this is confirmed on the ECA site (though it took a bit of finding, it seems the regular search on the ECA site doesn't find commerical associates).
I do like those customizable entry plates, I will be nicking that tape tip to stop the CPC sleeving falling down. Very neat & tidy plus those clip on cable markers make my OCD happy😅
@@Cablesmith your welcome! It's just when performing EICR's and the times when you remove the front cover only to be greeted by mass of mess which constitutes the wiring. So I always appreciate good workmanship as it helps anyone doing work in the future.
@@stevethomas5849 I completely agree, and it doesn’t take much to make it neat, it doesn’t even have to be extremely neat imo, I always do things in the mindset of how I’d like to find them on an EICR myself. I don’t think I mentioned it in the video, but I only put the number markers on one leg of the ring, and the leg without them is a separate leg, or I mark them with sharpie so people know one leg from the other
Nice 6ka sp fusebox cost affordable ? , like lewden, bg ,mk or Crabtree loadstar There's alot of competition & cost for deals depending on fuseways & spec for regs
@@Cablesmith i see you could use the trunking to cover the required knockout holes. would the holes still need to be sealed with instrument even though the trunking cover will cover any voids.
@@JayG2K that one seems to be open to personal preference. As far as I’m aware as long as it’s on a non combustible wall there’s no requirement to seal it. I’m not even sure if you “have” to no matter where it’s mounted but I personally do or don’t depending on the location of the board and if I think it’s a risk or not. Sealing it makes it awkward for adding more circuits after also so it’s a balancing act imo
Great content good tips always good to watch other sparkys work pick up lots of tips. What cable tags are you using can you reply with a link please and how much do they cost. Thanks in advance, all the best.
Thank you mate, I love finding tips from active sparks myself which is why I like to share them too. The tags are just off amazon but They were rather expensive, I’ve not yet tried these ones (link below) but I’m going to try them next as these are much MUCH more affordable www.expertelectrical.co.uk/cable-marker-kit-colour-coded
@@Cablesmith yeah I agree, have you tried their wiring accessories? Or do you plan to? When I spoke on the phone to their rep, he described it as a mash up of Scolmore Click and Hager, functionality in the modular system of Click with Sollysta looks, didn't speak too much on price but sounded cheaper than Click too 🤔 think they offer a better deal to the wholesaler if you take on both Verso boards and the wiring accessories, big commitment though to a brand that most haven't even heard of??!
@@bellas_switch_adapted_toys I haven’t used the accessories but I did ask for them for this job just to give it all a go. But the wholesalers didn’t stock the accessories. Although click is cheap enough and the quality is there too, it would be hard to steer me away from them if I’m honest
You can get all kinds of colours and cheap as chips. I use green for company colour. www.cableties-online.co.uk/shop/signboard-fixings/nylon-steel-penny-repair-washers/outside-diameter:25mm/nylon-penny-repair-washers.html
I use 12mm hardwood ply always, but the battens change depending what I’m stepping it off for. In this case I wanted it flush with the trunking so I used 38x63 CLS. The 38mm plus my 12mm ply gave me the 50mm trunking depth 👌🏼
Great review, nice to see a budget consumer unit that stands out, just a few niggles for me. The plastic earth and neutral bars, the non removable neutral and the spd cables being a little too short. Would definitely use on a job. Thanks for sharing.
I agree also niggles for me too. However that short SPD neutral, I’ve seen pictures on social media where that was longer and neater so maybe it’s changed already, I don’t know. I’ll keep an eye out 😀
@@Cablesmith Hi guys, you'll be happy to know we have extended the neutral cable by an additional 20mm to make them more flexible for you guys should you want to move their location
If your in the NIC, they have been selling them for years, I used to use them when I was doing PV system, put them on the generation meters, have not used them for a long time though.
Love the idea of the warranty stickers. Everyone’s out to get something free nowadays😞, they don’t relise we are just trying to provide for our family’s.
It’s great, just got another today for the refurb we’re second fixing soon 👌🏼 this time with the proper blanks and also all verso accessories throughout
@@Cablesmith that's what stood out tbh, my go to is hagar and though the vid I was thinking thats better , thats better. Only negative like you said is that short neutral but the positives overwhelm that slight default 👍
@@martinc9018 yep it’s well and truly been designed with the fitter in mind. the short neutral, I’ve seen pictures on Instagram where it looks a lot longer too so maybe that’s changed now also. Not sure
You see what I mean😂😂😂😂, It’s another great channel if your into cars and boats. I fitted a contactum RCBO board the other day and that was a really nice board to install.
@@mikewilkinson7802 yep it’s almost Identical the sign off 😂 at first I was thinking, “nah hes way more energetic than me” then he goes PEACE 😂 yea I watch all kinds of things like that, gonna check it out. Contactum boards are well built and a great board, it’s just the earth flylead that stops me, I hate them now I’ve not had to use them for years 😩
I’ve just fitted the board for the first time and the SPD was next to the main isolator so the fly lead worked fine. To be fair your not the only channel I watch has the same sign off. @Goonsquad have used it many a time as well.😉😂
@@mikewilkinson7802 yep the SPD being on the end is a first for me too, I did think about moving it to the start but then it would have budged the main switch over rendering the tails clamp useless 🙄
Like most boards these days probably a generic design from China, these days they are all very similar, apart from Schneider, who are streets ahead of everyone, but at a price. I first seen this board on efixx, and thought it looked ok then. They look ok and do the job, I think most companies have gone over to type A rcbos, due to amendment 2. Boards look so much better when they are installed like that, I hate seeing a load of stuffing glands and those stupidly big tails glands.
Your right most are identical these days, however I don’t like Schneider’s domestic range, but for 3 phase they are definitely the leaders. appreciate the views and comments Anthony 👌🏼 thank you
@@Cablesmith yeah your right, plus their range can be confusing, but I meant they were the only manufacturer who have rcbos with no tails, but unfortunately it comes at a price.
@@acelectricalsecurity ahh you mean them good ones. There is also a brand called SBS trade sales that make one with a neutral bus bar too but I’ve never used them
Hi Anthony, I can assure there is nothing generic with this one lol, we have engineered every point of the board from our offices here in Cardiff. We then tooled each aspect of it individually to control each aspect of the QC as best as humanly possible :-) Would you like any more info? We can send some out to you :-)
@@navitascp hi My apologies, I see these boards come to market and they are all similar looking so just assume they are similar to the others just with a few minor tweaks.
