Sooooo basically, all of us needs to message you what we want to order from DKOldies, transfer the money to you, and have you order what we want and send it to us hehe.
Honestly at this point the most useful thing retro gaming youtubers can do for the community regarding DKOldies is stop giving them money and screentime
Their scammy business model works, they are getting sales from tiktok brainless idiots. Videos on RU-vid won't discourage or add to they sales in anyway sadly.
The problem with that though is that DKOldies will keep flooding their channel with videos of their “generosity” and acts of fair pricing. If it weren’t for people speaking up many would be fooled right now
Back when I occasionally bought things I couldn't find elsewhere from them, I got: 2 oil covered and very sticky PlayStation 2 DualShock controllers 1 copy of Mario Kart Super Circuit where the entire PCB was completely and totally corroded away, every pin, every chip, every component destroyed, and completely covered inside with still wet mud. Several Game Boy games in various states of disrepair and not working, that I had to personally repair, most of which were dirty. Every cartridge game required some level of repair, usually soldering. Etc... etc.. These were from their "good" condition stock.
ya i ordered 3 games from them gta v skyrim and saints row 3 for ps3 and gta v did not work ironically they sent me a replacement after i complained about it which this copy works perfectly fine but the weird part is the copy that worked looked worse on the shiny part of the disk than the one that didnt work!
DKOldies: "He is on to us! We'll have to prepare every system we send out to be tip-top, in case it goes to Elliot!" Elliot: "I find your terms agreeable."
I cant get past the video of the dkoldies MANAGER destroying a iQue player game boy advance by throwing it on the ground. Then denying the whole ordeal
Its extremely funny that they sent you better ones to try to manipulate it into looking like they're less of a scam than they are, but it just made them look even shadier
their social media marketing is very good. Any unsuspecting person would see the friendly / fun videos they put up and think DKO is a good company worth supporting
Last year I ended up buying a bunch of wii games from them because they had a large amount of em, and the weird games I wanted were maybe $4-$15 a piece. Everything else was absurdly overpriced but I knew if I got a fucked up game disk then I had a company to yell at instead of a random dude on ebay. So unfortunately yeah even outside of the console shit they're still making some money.
This isn't the first time that DKoldies has sent really clean and nice consoles. They sent good looking consoles to RU-vidr to Rich from ReviewTechUSA. He only knew that they did because someone that worked or is working from DKoldies told him what he ordered in an email and said they gave him clean consoles. They said if it wasn't him but a regular person they would of sent him a non refurbished console. That would have been untouched and just sent through the mail. So they send You Tubers refurbished consoles as a marketing ploy to get people to order from them.
I can't believe people order from them... I manage an indie video game store and we sell GBAs (cleaned and really refurbished) for $80 and GB/GBP go for like a $100 CAD I can't believe what the market in the US is, these online stores really are pushing it.
@@eightcoins4401 the funny thing is that here in Canada we have pretty good business with people in the US because our money is worth like $0,70 and shipping isn't terrible between our countries. So often people order on Canadian websites.
I have to call bs at the link port cover. If that was D-gade, it's port cover would have already gone to an higher grade that needed one. The contrast between the two is pretty hilarious though, I'm just a casual collector and even I wouldn't grade those the same. 😂
It works until the contacts get corroded from the moisture of your breath... I actually don't blow into the slot. I found that reinserting the game works just as well without it.
Use a local friend or relatives name if you’re going to try it again. They won’t know who it is but if you miss the delivery they can go pick it up for you.
I see so many vids about dk oldies, is there a uk store for retro consoles you could recommend cause postage from the states is mad dear. I wanna try get a game boy micro
DKOldies appeared to be parting out complete in box games and selling the boxes and manuals separate in bulk on Ebay. I don't know why they would do this, since a complete in box game is worth more than it's parts in most circumstances. My guess is their customers are only interested in loose carts and/or won't pay whatever outrageous prices they charge for CIB games.
Retro game company owned by someone who doesn't give a shit about retro games. Every city has them, mine went under with the final owner raping underage girls.
His name is David Mitchell, and yes, he's black so of course he also had burglary charges while also running for city council and nothing ended up happening to him because there would have been riots.
Well, congrats on getting some great quality handhelds from DK Oldies! Whether they knew it was you or not, you still made out all right this time. I agree about the high prices, though. On a side note, I would swap out that D-grade back cover and put it on the mint original Game Boy that you got, since it's the only part that doesn't look bad.
Jacob R got a PS3 from DKOldies recently and he noticed that the console was actually delidded (delidding is an extremely difficult process where you use a painters knife to cut the glue between the chips and the heatspreader in order to replace the thermal paste and this has a high chance of damaging either chip)
Life got REALLY busy haven't been hear in quiet some time sadly but this was a great video to return to because I've often wondered about this DKOldies because people talk SO much shit about them all the time so it was nice to come back to this, also you are the reason I even Ordered Solar Stryker and I still play it often I am FINALLY getting better at it
Link port connector cover... never actually seen one of those, didn't realize the DMG even came with one. That's how you know they knew what they were doing...
How the hell are these idiots still in business? Even if I was a millionare, i'd opt to save a few quid and buy just about anywhere else. Prices are just insane. Though I am surprised how reasonable their shipping is.
I will say that the quality of there handheld at acceptable quality has gone up, I ordered a gameboy color in acceptable semi recently (2-3 months ago) and it was almost mint the only thing off about it was the battery cover had been replaced, there were almost no scratches on it and it read my games almost perfectly so quality has gone up the gba you got was their now acceptable quality and the dmg maybe if it was missing a battery cover and that is what they substituted it with
For 30$ at Fleamarket I got 2 gba, psp 3k silver and 2 dsi. All working just missing battery cover. Then some dude had a bag of 8 gba and sp and gbc shells and buttons screws for 5$.
Around 2009...i remember because i know where i worked....I always bought a Gameboy at flea markets, junk shops, thrift stores to clean up and give friends as birthday presents. They cost between 5 and 8 dollars. Some were in very good shape...some a little dinged up. Gone are THOSE days ....thanks resellers!! 🤢
Perhaps if they are out of D grade, or whatever you order, you get the next tier up. It's not like they are going to take a loss, just less profit and it looks better to receive something good than a refund. What bothers me is the "refurbishment". To me that means replacing anything consumable or wears to the point it impacts function. If I was doing the refurbishment the button membranes would be replaced, possibly switches and very likely any cartridge ports. The PCB would be cleaned thoroughly and an optional screen replacement offered if it was sub par condition. Giving it a wipe sometimes is not a refurbishment.
Are we sure the "D" means the grade and not that it's "Done" as in picked and packed? Just curious if they actually came out and said they sticker orders with grades.
Are GB systems really hitting those prices? They are expensive where I live but doesn't reach 100€, not even close, and I found them in good condition overall, I already have a duplicate of all models lol
Nothing wrong with that, they're all Alkaline batteries. What's wrong is using Alkaline batteries at all! There's no need for disposable batteries anymore, NiMH rechargeables are really reliable these days and work just as well in standard consoles. I even saw a video of a DMG running on less than 2 volt the other day! And in case of voltage-hungry mods, internal battery mods or rechargeable Li-Ion AA/AAAs with integrated VRM are the way to go, cause those modded consoles burn through Alkalines way too fast! Disposable batteries are a massive waste and completely obsolete!
I just recently purchased a PS2 off of eBay for $125. It came with varying scratches but nothing that can be scuffed out. And the kicker is, it was never opened lol. I looked on DK oldies knowing full well what I was getting into and after seeing their prices I decided to go a different route. To think just 2 years ago I would have probably bought something from them but knowing what I know now I'm going to steer clear of them to the best that I can unless something is at a decent price.
There are 2 things I will say about DK Oldies: 1) After everything hit the fan last year, they did update their refurbishing process. I don't know to what degree however 2) They might have you listed as a potential reviewer, as they are known to send out good quality items to people who do reviews as a negative review will give them the most negative visibility. Based on these 2 things, I think that is why you got such good looking quality consoles. If you want to test them in the future, you should have them send it to a friend's address and pick it up from there.
quarter of a million subs, the top name in gameboy youtuber, the dude is NOT underrated in any way, learn to stop saying things are underrated please, thanks
I saw Joey from dkoldies atva Momocon a couple of years ago. We were chatting and he seemed pretty friendly. We happened to be staying at the same hotel so i met him at the bar for drinks. I got a little tipsy so i followed him unto his room. He came out of the bathroom naked, greased up wearing a piggy mask and he chased me around the room trying to fit a wiimote up my bum.
Still would have been interesting to see if they had done a proper refurb on these and not just a shell swap. 🤷♂️ but yea Elliot, i think you need someone to order on your behalf 👌🏻 to get a true idea of what DK Oldies are sending out. Personally i would rather find better deals on ebay like you said. Great video
"this isn't working!" *blows lightly into system and game* "ah now it's working" Honestly, I wouldn't have even tried it without breathing the breath of life back into the system and games first. You know those run on the spirit of God
