Pink eye doesn’t discriminate against age. I’ve gotten it a few times as an adult. Some of the dumbest things can cause it. Even something as simple as not removing makeup at night can cause it.

Also, mixed bell pepper seeds tend to start off as all orange. They do that when they’re starting to pollinate and mature. Once they mature the. You’ll get more of an array of color.

Hi, A tip on eyedrops for you - pull the lower lid down/out to form a sort of pouch and then put the eyedrop in. Much easier to get in and more stays in the eye. Also after putting the drop in close your eyes for 20 to 30 sec so it stays in there for a while. Hope it feels better.

I was in my thirties when my oldest two were in elementary school. One year, I’d decided to volunteer to help with Picture Day. My job was to hand out the little black combs to the students while they were waiting in line for their turn to have their picture taken. The morning was pretty uneventful, and the rest of my day had gone off without a hitch. The very next morning, I woke up with pink eye IN BOTH EYES!!! 👀 I’d barely had any contact with the students the day before, and none of them had appeared to have anything wrong with their eyes. It’s probably our faulty immune systems. I have MS, and I think Crohn’s is also an autoimmune disorder. This is why we can’t have nice things! 🤦🏾‍♀️🤣 Speaking of nice things, you have a beautiful garden! 🪴😊

Maggie, please make sure it is not iritis/uveitis. I was incorrectly diagnosed with pink eye for two months. By the time I made it to the ophthalmologist he immediately told me the issue and let me know I most likely had an autoimmune disease as well (he turned out to be correct). I ended up fighting the iritis for two years because it was so out of control by the time I was able to get on proper treatment. I am not trying to freak you out, but I just want to make sure you don’t have the same experience I did. You most likely have pink eye!! But, still better to be safe and double check with the doctor that they at least thought of that during the exam. Mine did initially go away with the antibiotics/steroid drop and then came back with a vengeance when I stopped the drops.

Yup...been there, done that. Iritis is definitely related to Crohn's.

It is also important to have an Opthamologist! You don’t wanna mess around w/ your eyes. Your primary care will start w/ the most benign answer. An ophthalmologist CAN quickly get you in! AND will KNOW what the problem is. I also has something (don’t remember what it’s called) that required steroid drops 💦 👁️

We used to have the same problem with our cucumbers. We started to trellis them & harvesting at night or later in the evening and that helped a lot for us just to suggestions or ideas if you haven't already tried this!

Maggie, A little trick when administering eye drops don’t pull your upper eyelid up instead pull down on your lower eyelid so that it creates a pocket and then drop the eye drops into the pocket it makes all the difference in the world! My son and I have had two eye surgeries and my daughter has had four so I’ve had plenty of experience!

Hi Maggie! So sorry that you've had pink eye! I know it is miserable. About pickling your banana peppers: I canned several quarts of sweet banana peppers a couple years ago. I wanted them to have a little heat, so I added a few serrano or jalapeño peppers to the cans. For even more heat, and with gloved hands, I added about 1/3 of a habanero to 3 of the quarts. This really kicks up the heat---A Lot!

I have the same problem applying eye drops. I’ve found for me laying in bed or on the couch and applying the drops is a lot easier than doing it standing up.

Maggie , pink eye is super common at any age. I see it all the time. usually is a first sign of a cold coming or low immune system. Hope iits not your case. Get better.

It’s super easy to catch pinkeye. Could have been grocery shopping and touched the cart then your eye without thinking, could be a 100 different ways. I caught it from my dog once.

At least it's nothing worse than pink eye. 😊 Our cattle get it often in summer as it's spread by insects . Maybe a midge or something bit near your eyelid . Take care😊

You probably done, but i have a. Slightly different technique. I put the drops in while sitting down. I not only lean my head back, but tip my shoulders back so my face is parallel to the floor-no sort of slant. Then i use two fingers to pull both eyelids apart.

You're probably done with the drops by now, but if you ever need them again, look at the tip of the bottle, so you know it's aimed right, then look away when you squeeze it in so you don't freak out. I had it when I was 10, and somehow my grandma (who barely left the house, and had all grown grandchildren by that point), got it once too.

For eyedrops- I find it easiest to put the drop in the inner corner of your eye. Definitely no contacts or makeup until you are healed. Good to replace all your makeup and taking off your makeup before bed. That’s prob where it came from. You got this!

🙏 It IS important to have a Primary care Dr. to keep track of all of your care/specialists etc. They’re also there to refer you to a specialist when warranted.

Neutrogena puts out a makeup cleaner pad that is excellent. My husband is a Shriner Clown, and he uses them to take his heavy makeup off.

I got septal orbital cellulitis out of the blue. There was much much goopy drainage, redness and swelling. Needed a CT scan as the eye is very close to the brain. I suspect people with sinus issues are more prone to this as the eye orbit and sinuses are very close. Maybe try warm compresses for the itching.

Due to my having lupus, I’m very prone to infections. My eyes have been problematic for as long as I can remember. Do you have a Bruder eye mask? It’s very soothing you microwave it for 22 seconds and it feels wonderful. My ophthalmologist recommended it a long time ago, and it really is very soothing to any irritation to the eye, they sell paper liners that you put underneath it so that you don’t get bacteria on the mask and I swear by it I’m prone to blepharitis. I got this mask on Amazon .

I worked with kids and got Pink Eye all the time. I did get Cellulitis in my eye and it hurts really bad!

I had pink eye that was a result of a virus I had never heard of. It was almost like having the flu with pinkeye.

Hey Maggie, sorry about your eye! 👀 I had a lot of minor but frequent health issues as a kid & teen, and one of them was conjunctivitis. I’d get it in both eyes about 2 or 3 times a year for many years. Every doc I saw said I was just prone to it, nothing wrong with my eyes.. Anyway, I know you get this being a nurse lol, but try not to touch them if you can help it even though it itches & burns. Also, toss your eye shadow, pencils & applicators that you’ve used recently 😢 That part always sucked. And warm compresses really helped me with the gunk and the itching. Get well soon! 😊

If I have to do eye drops I do them in a magnified make up mirror so I can see better.

Hopefully you are well clear with eye drops now. For future self some eye drop bottles now also work by tapping the bottom of bottle the drop comes out worth checking... I found out with our dogs last eye drops. Also tip head back and insert drop into middle of pulled down eyelid... Close eyes for a few seconds and done and dusted. I find USA Healthcare so odd in UK I would not think of going to GP for pink eye. I would go direct to Pharmacy who will look and give appropriate medication if they think it is more complex eye issue will say Optician who if they need can refer direct to Eye Emergency Care.

I got herpes in my eye from a cat! Used the eye drops and eye goop as prescribed. It would be gone for about 6 weeks tops and would make a comeback! I threw away ALL my makeup and didn't wear any for several months. Washed everything multiple times. I was the only one in the house who would get it. Frustrating me and my opthalmologist, after 6 months I turned to a homeopathic, Colloidal Silver. This was recommended by the vet who put my cat on it after the second round for my cat. Feeling I had nothing to lose I began using it. It was gone in less than the a week and it never came back. 😳 I've used it for recurring uveitis infections. It's safe with no complications.

My sister and I both have issues with ALLERGIC pink eye. It happens about 2x a year, spring and fall, but never have it at the same time or even within a month of each other.

I can give you an easy trick to eye drops, pull your lower lid down put the drops down in the lower lid gap then let go of the lid and the drops will then coat the eye ❤

Are you sure that it's not uveitis? I was treated for connunctivitis for years until I got a correct diagnosis. I have an autoimmune disease and I sometimes get attacks of uveitis. It's another autoimmune disorder.

Hey...sorry about your pink eye...maggie I have a question...about your pouch...you used to use a pump zyterx...was that recommend by a wound nurse...because I am having problems with my skin...there is a lot of inflammation around the stoma...powder doesn't help!!! Please help Mags!!!!!❤❤❤

I think people tend to get it more often as. kids, but adults definitely get pinkeye because I’m one of them, haha;). I just finished la bottle of antibiotic drops a few weeks ago.

If it makes you feel better, most cold viruses can become pink eye if they're determined enough. Bacterial pink eye is a different beast. You don't appear to be having a bunch of discharge, so maybe yours was viral? TMI: I have some scar tissue from a broken nose that makes it more likely blowing my nose will make sinus-air come out my tear duct (so gross). I've gotten viral pink eye a couple times that way. I have resolved to never blow my nose again.

I thought exactly the same....I went to the doc because I thought I had pink eye, but it wasn’t really crusty and goopy..turned out I also had an upper respiratory infection, Had a couple days of antibiotics in me and the eye issue went away as the cold went away.

Could it have been your eye makeup that caused pink eye? Some purple color eye pencils or eyeshadows that have 'carmine' as ingredient can cause very bad eye allergies.

You also need to deal with any eyeshadow and brushes you mght have used (Maybe you didn't). I love those oval pads and micellar water. Makes it easy to take my eye make up off. Sorry you'tr dealing with this. But it should clear up pretty quick,

Makeup brushes can be washed and sterilized. I wash mine and then spray them down with 90% rubbing alcohol once a week.

Girl, you have a colostomy bag. I'm surprised you haven't had it as an adult. Kudos to you for cleanliness! I have a sheep farm who frequently get pink eye and I often have to treat them, my husband is more suspectible so its usually my job
