@akjohnny The old envoy is going to be in the driveway until can't be fixed any more. It is not a truck but I use it like one. For sand and gravel just use a trailer. Sheets of plywood no problem. 200,000 + miles of use. If she want a new purse hauler she can go buy one. That won't happen because she likes her shoes and new outfits to match. She pretty much still lives like a teenager at daddy's house with her own job. My sister could not handle taking on a man's place either. She only made partial house payments for 4 years. Then she found Mr. bill payer, just like many single moms.

Before you drop a fuel tank on a pickup, consider unbolting then lifting the bed. It can give you access to the pump without the hassle of dropping the tank. You normally don't even have to remove the bed, just jack it up a foot or two on one side to give yourself room to work on the pump.

I've owned since brand new a 2009 Colorado equipped with a 4-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. It now has 90,000 miles on it. Other than the rear shock absorbers and a sun visor, the vehicle has never required any repairs--Only routine maintainence. It runs perfectly, no rattles, and the air conditioning blows mounds of cold air, which is very important here in the hot state of Florida. It has been well over a year since the truck has even been in the repair shop. I change the oil myself. No complaints whatsoever!

@@Chino2k3 well my 04 has 165,000 miles and I know I've needed to do two front wheel bearings and an alternator since I've owned it. I've owned it since 124,000 so there's a good idea of what parts you'd expect to fail. It's been a good truck but the frame rust up here in New York has absolutely destroyed it really I mean I've patched it up as I'm a welder but I'm going to be honest they rust out. If you could find a nice two-wheel drive extended cab or something with a stick shift for under three grand that will pass inspection I think that would make you happy. As long as you take care of it and don't buy an absolute pile of junk from the get-go you should be good

@jon112785 3 года назад
Love your videos! I have an 06 chevy colorado extended cab and a slightly different code (P0446) popped up one day. I had to replace the fuel pressure sensor on the gas tank. Was a relatively simple and cheap fix for $15 and 20 minutes. The fuel tank pressure sensor is mounted on the top of the pump module on the top side of the gas tank. It can be accessed, without dropping the tank, on a Std Cab or Ext Cab. You have to take the back driver side tire off and remove the wheel well skirting then you can see the top of the tank and the pump module and might have shown exactly where the leak is.

I am still driving my 2006 Colorado 3.5 Inline 5 w/260k miles . Have been changing the oil about every 5k miles, no major problems. I have changed the alternator, batteries, spark plugs, one coil, planning on changing the remaining 4 coils, changed out the head gasket not that it needed it but one of the value stem gaskets went bad but that was after 200k miles so I replaced the whole set, other than that still running, great little truck IMO. Nothing last forever but they sure don’t build them like they use tool

Back in the 70's I drove nothing but G.M. I owned 3 Z-28's . loved driving them and it was only in summer months but every year I had to replace the fuel pump and on top of that, fuel injectors kept going out. Every time I had it fixed, the bill was over $400. I know Scotty doesn't like Chrysler but since I've owned 3 grand Cherokees. The first one was a 1999. I put over 250000 miles on it and was still running good when I sold it. 2nd was a 2005. Same thing, over 250000 and still ran good when I sold it. I'm now driving a 2016 with 6700 on it and will see how many miles I can go.

I have to say, I have a 2006 colorado crew cab. Pretty sure I have this same issue, but the bigger issue really is that it’s a piece of junk. I had to fix stupid little things multiple times. I still have the truck, but it doesn’t run (blown head gasket), and I won’t ever buy another GM product. Sadly, I bought the truck brand new. I may not like the looks of the Tacomas/Tundras much, but you can’t beat Toyota reliability. When I get another truck, it will be a Toyota.

I've found that with the colorado, it is actually easier to remove the truck bed instead of dropping gas tank. Then, you can access all the connections to the tank and the fuel pump. Some people cut a hatch in the truck bed for access. 6 bolts hold the bed on.

If you have to get access to a gas tank on a truck, its 10 times easier to just pull the bed off. Loosen 6 to 8 bolts from the frame to the bed, take out the screws to the gas nozzle, disconnect the tail lights. You just have to get someone to help lift the bed off the truck, or find a way to hoist it off. That way you dont have to worry about breaking the gas lines, or tearing hoses, or tearing the wires going to the sending unit, from dropping the tank from underneath. Thats the way I`ve always done it, and it`s not near as tedious.

@@brensdaman926 I had an S-10 (2000) then a Colorado (2008). The Colorado was a better vehicle, felt more solid and planted on the road and had more power and just felt nicer overall. I can't speak to the the long-term reliability because mine got totalled a few years in. But the S-10 wasn't exactly bulletproof either. Mine had plenty of issues, including a fuel filter that clogged way more than it should have, an electrical problem that caused the right side headlight to blink along with the turn signal. The rearview mirror would pretty regularly fall off the windshield, the dashboard plastic was cracked and disintegrated by the time it was 7-8 years old and the valves rattled pretty much from the time it was almost new. And the bow-tie Chevy logo fell off the grille the first time I washed it. I wouldn't say it was a "bad" vehicle by any means, it lasted me 8 years with pretty low cost of maintenance but I've owned Scion/Toyota/Nissan/Subaru since then and it was the "worst" out of all of them, if I had to pick a last place - and the Colorado would be ahead of it, too.
