Hey Terry, congrats on the switch. I think it's a phenomenal camera. It's everything I wanted when the A7Siii was first announced. One little quality of life upgrade I recommend is the smallrig cold shoe adapter. Its $13 and provides a dead cat for the mic while also leaving you a functional cold shoe slot, and the best part is it doesn't fall off like the original Sony cold shoe dead cat. I lost mine at some point when traveling because it just slid off. Plus it looks better. I'll post the link in my reply. Its not an affiliate link or anything, I just think the product will help you out.
That disclaimer, there’s more to professional video production than just working on sets, RU-vidrs, tik tok people, small business owners etc are getting into using video to make money, and the camera companies are making tools for those people , even as someone in production, it’s important to know the world doesn’t just revolve around my needs 🙏🏾 dope video
Unpopular opinion : the only reason why that camera got so much hate was because people were trying to use the camera what it was not meant for. people were expecting so much more out of the camera, because they were trying to use it for much more when it was literally made for people like you and the way you use it! That’s why you love the camera so much and they hate it because they’re using it in ways They have other cameras for! Loving the contact keep going !
I would still wait. The features we love in zve1 will be in the next sony fx camera for sure. And that camera will solve all the issue of zve1. The zve1 is special now is that because many great features are not in other sony camera yet.
Terry bro, why you got to give the secret away? I got this little beast about 1-2mos after release on B&H for about $1850 open box. Basically people were returning it because of user errors and they blamed the camera. Have no problems with it since I learned a lot using the Canon R5 with early overheating issues. On long form, I added the Tilta fan during BF and it about doubles the recording times before any overheating warning signs, same as with the R5. Recently got the cheap Ulanzi (version 2 with the spring load vs the suction cups) but haven’t had time to test it out on a pinch. Keep up the good, straight, and honest contents!
I was tempted by the ZV-E1 when shopping for a new camera. I'm invested into Sony APS-C lenses. I wanted the best camera that would make use of what I have, so I decided to stay within the APS-C line. I went with the FX30. I question sometimes if having the better photography options of the A6700, or moving to full frame like the ZV-E1 might have been a better choice? I love everything about the FX30, from the full size HDMI, custom buttons, Dual CFExpress slots, amazing display, and built in fan. Maybe one day, I'll make the jump to full frame?
I cant understand why overheating should be an issue with this new camera??? Its a big flaw imo. But if they would have build in a fan i think there is no reason to go out and buy a FX3… Hardly doubt that the overheating can be fixed with a software update?? And pretty sure the follow up to the FX3 is close, and will focus on the videographer. But yeah the overheating is just bugging me and if that wasnt the case this would be a very perfect camera.
Because this camera has basically the same internal components as the FX-3 and the FX-6, it is sort of a true cinema camera for a fraction of the price. A blockbuster Hollywood film, "The Creator" is shot on the FX-3. This has the same sensor and internals. If you did not watch this movie yet, please watch at least the trailer. It is truly amazing what this sensor can do. And I have to admit that the FX-3 footage was shot on a external RAW recorder so there is a bit more information in those images that the colorists can work with but most professional video makers don't use RAW on the FX-3 anyway.
*I'm not a professional but I still love Camera's none the less and I love the FX30 because it does Video and that's all I care about. It can take Photo's yes but I don't care about hybrid systems even though I have the ZV-E10 and it's a Great Camera but I'll still keep it, BUT..ya gotta Love those Gear Snobs lmao*
When downgrading from the FX3 to the E1 how much money do you actually get back? I find the depreciation on a camera worse than a car when selling. The haggling with low-ballers alone is probably not worth the hassle.
Wow, that on camera audio sounds like my Rode !!!!.........Though I think I like the Sony A6700 a little better........For the Money.....Maybe one day I'll get the ZV...........Great Video.....
Hey Terry. First time commenter, longtime subscriber. Thanks for all your content. I love my ZV-E1… for what it is. The points that you touched on are the same points that matter to me. I use it as a bcam to my A7s3 - which I prefer to use in bright sunlight and for handheld due to the viewfinder. The one additional feature that I wish the ZV - E1 had was a dial to switch between memory modes like on the A7s3. They could even make it a tiny dial… Like on the RX 100! Why Sony? Whyyy?
This is my only camera. it is great camera to own. i mainly do video. now am looking for a sony lens like 20-70mm.. a one lens system as the camera is compact as well as the lens. i do love your choice 16-35 PZ f4 though, but i don't vlog. So 20-70mm is good for me.
Reasons why not to 1. Single SD card slot. 2. Overheating / no fan 3. No Fullsize HDMI 4. Ill think of more lol Side note: Billboard prints only need about 3mp lol
Dang, about to get an fx3 but I know it doesn’t have the new ai chip… Sony why 😢 That shouldn’t deter me, right? The autofocus is till top tier? How much does the ai chip improve the af 🤔
Love the ZVE1! It’s my main camera for RU-vid. Between this and the iPhone 15 pro, I’m covered for everything from talking heads to vlogs. I use the same lens, love how wide it is, and usually pair it with the ecmb1m on top. Long time subscriber and watcher here. Main negative for me is one card slot. I can work around the overheating, but not so much 1 card slot.
@@TerryWarfield it's full frame, shoots 10 bit raw, oversampled 4k 30. Only thing I'll give you is 4k 60 is cropped. But the zv e is always cropped so it circles back to the zf. I used to shoot Sony but switched to the z8 a year ago. I haven't regretted it yet.
@danielbarakat for sure! I’m not saying the zf is a bad video camera, it’s not. But it’s not a specialty video camera like the zve1. It’s strength is for sure photography and I can’t WAIT to use it for that
I literally give 2 shits about "Pro v Ammeter," but would rather see everything in life in in terms of "Seeds Vs Leeches" does one seed creativity in life or do you consume it.... for those who only consume, they ARE the leeches? you appear to seed! (BOOM Mic drop!)
Because it’s not. I have both. Both have their advantages over the other. Personally the zve1 is the better tool for me, but again. I love and use them both.
Oh surprise surprise.. Philip bloom does the year old zv-e1 video then you do.. your either copying... or that camera is in a sales slump and sony is paying you guys to push it again
Aye breh, we've been using the ZV-E1 for a long a$$ time in pro work and really have opinions. Not every creative has a hidden sponsored agenda man. Keep it 💯 TDUB. I love mine and been using it for everything since it dropped. Show me another little body that can shoot clean at ISO 12,800 with AI, 4K 120P and amazing stabilization. It has nothing to do with Phillip Bloom 😅
I’m not sure that’s right, Terry has voiced his opinion on the Lumix S5 II X multiple times and pushes it pretty heavy. There are RU-vidrs that are sales people, but Terry doesn’t feel that way in any of his videos
