Question had you disable the DOD on Tahoe? When you accelerate at 2000 rmp after you ran out of gas your oil pressure did not increase enough. You might want to upgrade your oil pump and replace the oil pick up tube too.

Samething happen to me. I never let my Tahoe go under quater tank. The fuel pump module is not reading right. Running out of fuel will kill yout fuel pump faster.
