I was introduced to sea lampreys at Lake Champlain while Lake Trout fishing. It piqued my interest to learn about them. And share what I learned with you!

They make it up the Piscataquis river to the Essex st dam in Doverfoxcroft. Usually 1st week of June for about two weeks. They mate, lay there eggs and die off. They are 2 to 3 ft long by the time they get up here too :)

Been fighting them on Champlain almost my whole life. NY and VT were on the same page for a lot of years with treatment of tributaries but I'm guessing they have let that falter.

I have caught fish in the Cobb and Bond brook with lamprey bites on them

They spawn in Cobb stream if you follow it up to the first dam you’ll see them.

So there are American Eel in the river also.

Sure have a ton in Champlain. 3 of 5 lakers in the central section of the main lake show the scars if not the actual eel.

@JoeHollandFishing my mum used to swim in lake ontario as a kid and I guess one time she swam out front the river enters the lake and swam through a school of lampreys

Wtf?!! Did Trudeau forget to fund the lamprey control prigram? For the better part of 2 decades ive sought out vids and reports of sea lamprey in those lakes, and your vid by far reveals the worst localized problem ive ever known.
