It's about time we got back to the Oak Challenge! But to make it more difficult, let's do the ultimate challenge. Shiny Pokemon only. Can I save my sanity and complete this in a reasonable amount of time? Well lets see as I complete the Ruby and Sapphire Professor Oak's Challenge! Honest even in Universe the magikarp salesman prices are fairly reasonable considering poke balls are 2 bucks and fishing rods are expensive in real life.

Anyone else think Paras' shiny in FRLG is much better than in any other game? The golden mushrooms make it stand out a lot more.

I’m reaching out to see if anyone would be up for this weird challenge! In Gen 1, you can catch Pokémon via fishing in Elite four Lorelei’s room. (Magikarp, Poliwag, and Goldeen). This was due to an oversight. Can you beat the Elite 4 using them? This is the framework, you create the rest!

Well not directly after fishing them up seeing as the magikarp will be level 5 and the Goldeen and Poliwag will be level 10, and max amount of rare candies you can get is 12 without cerulean cave. I don’t think a level 17 magikarp or level 22 poliwag or goldeen is going to solo the E4.

Going to say yes it is possible, though very tedious, without leaving Lorelei's room. Bring in a single pokemon to use to catch the first, catch as many others as you want, fish to grind enough levels that you can beat the E4, add TMs/HMs as needed. Edit to add: perhaps less straightforward, you would also want to brong a considerable stock of extra healing items and pokeballs to account for the inevitable struggle gronding. Hmm. Actual layers to the problem. Fair enough.

Before I start, Johnstone did a similar run in the Let’s Go games, and… damn, it broke him, and that was with IMPROVED shiny odds. This is just a madding challenge for this game.

Yeah but Johnstone didn’t use rng manipulation, this is still extremely impressive and I would never attempt it because I value sanity, I would just argue that the let’s go challenge was a bit harder

Ive always thought these professor oaks challenges would be way more fun if you used nuzlocke level caps, meaning catch and evolve everything possible before each badge but not having to grind a pidgey to level 36 on a bunch of level 3 caterpie. You still eventually catch and evolve everything but save some headache of hours of mindless grinding.

I did a Prof Oak in X, got a shiny litleo before first gym and a shiny zangoose before second. Switch training is much more forgiving there, though, with all pokemon getting full EXP.

I love your videos, i just feel that your shiny videos has become so incredibly technical that it´s not just a standard finding all shiny video. And I understand that it´s me who has a hard time following along and that for you it saves alot of time so you actually can put out the video. But for me the "fun" aspect has been somewhat removed with all these manipulations. U are still awesome, keep up with the videos, just wanted to air out my opinion. :)

Dude, you really need to do / play something outside of Pokemon. At this rate you're really going to turn insane. If you have this too much time to invest in a single challenge and just for a 54 min video use it on something else. I've been following you since you started making the all inclusive Megan Man retrospective and I can see that you really need to change your content not just for your followers but for your well being. Just give it a try, there're a lot persons willing to watch something outside of Pokemon from you.

But TBH, seeing this rng manipulation makes me wonder if i do myself good for a shiny only run at my pokemon Black version. it's kinda discouraging knowing I can try to get my shiny starter for weeks and when your video comes up you just say: hey, RNG manipulation made me do this in a few days
