I played this guy in 2019 -- had the grace to compliment my play and switch into teaching mode. The best thing about playing ‘hustlers’ is the characters and stories you can get access to, if for whatever reason you build a connection. The energy they can give off is unique and their relationship with chess is a space of its own.

That guy really did his best to get the cheapest looking chess setup he could find. Yellow pieces instead of white, random blue and black pieces for black, a badly worn and creased paper chess board. This guy really is a hustler
@Eagle7433
@Eagle7433 2 года назад
Maybe it's part of the hustle. An edge is an edge no matter how big or small. A change from what you're used to seeing on the table over an over for many years vs someone who's used to playing with those slight changes can be a tiny edge. Even if the slightest thing disorients someone in the slightest way...it's still an edge. In the 80's there used to be parts of the Boston Garden hardwood floor that were warped and in such bad conditions that the ball would bounce funny in certain areas. They kept it that way cause the Celtic players all knew where those spots were and how to play on them. Also during some playoff games the A/C would mysteriously break down leaving temperatures soaring to the 100°s in the stadium. Minor changes in landscape and layout can effect game play in any sport at any capacity.

Well considered most chess master players where Russians, till Bobby fisher said fuk it, i gonna reinvent the meta of chess. Than here comes a Anand, the indian god of chess. If not for Bobby Fisher , the alternative timeline would be Russian dominance in chess.

@@turnermarius4471 In some sense, this is correct, but I think you can't get to the entire truth here unless you look at Soviet-era state sponsorship of chess. @@ProFac992 You see the other two of his hustler buddies they lost to her, and don't forget the triggering trash talks that happened with them. So the win here does matter. And he is not any GM. Not trained. And does not have that much experience as Alex has playing with GM's. because on streets you wont find GM's roaming and playing, just immature chess players. So with all that put together defeating her is definitely a ft. and keeping calm and not letting emotion take over is an attitude to be learned. The guy simply outsmarted her. @DannyBPlays
@DannyBPlays 3 года назад
I looked up the evaluation for this game move by move and at his first check she was at a -1 advantage, after a few moves he was +3 in advantage, but then at 8:05 the Rc3 move actually lost almost all of his advantage(+0.8) because she could have taken the pawn and he wouldn't have been able to attack with his pawn since it was pinned between the bottom rook and his king. But she moved her king so quickly after his rook move that she didn't see it and then his advantage went to +4.2 Her position got progressively worse and then the 8:30 move(Ng6) put him way ahead at a +7.2 and then of course her rook blunder at the end. It's really interesting to see that 2 highly skilled players still don't make the "perfect" move almost every time and that they are still prone to making mistakes even when they're in good position

When she did that last mistake, I was looking at the vulnerability of his king. She had a safe check on him with her knight which would have forced his move and she could have realistically taken piece(s) and the advantage. She seemed to interested in her rook instead. Rewind to @8:30. I saw that in real time too, not pausing or re-watching it. Granted, I might have lost before I made it that far.
