I CHANGED MY MIND about a previous video... 

Hey guys, quick note here to address something in the comments: regarding making an install video or posting the wiring diagram, depending on your guitar, pickup arrangement, and the sustainer purchased, the wiring diagram will be different. So the wiring diagram that worked for me, in many cases, will not work for someone else.

The toughest part about situations like these is that a RU-vidr can only say what it was they received and how it is working for them. Remember folks, it is only 1 example of the product, not the whole line.

Most players have “a guy” that can assemble & wire a partscaster, drop in pickups etc,… Guitar Max is thorough truthful & conscientious.

I truly appreciate your candid approach, Max. Though I am not interested in buying the Sustainer system, very few come back as you are doing here to do a follow up. This information is good to know. I build my own guitars now (electrics) and some of these new details is good to know. Another problem you may run into with their customer service nowadays, could be an AI, instead of a real person, and that opens up a whole 'nother can of worms. When it comes to sustain, I depend upon the construction of my guitar and the settings on my amp. Generally, for all general uses, that works for me.

After watching the first video, I decided to look into purchasing a sustainer from this manufacturer. I went ahead and made the plunge since it seemed affordable and I like to challenge myself with new things with the guitar projects I tinker with. While the ordering process wasn’t what I was used to, the sales rep was clear enough to get me through the process without too much of an issue. At the price that this was offered, I have no expectation of customer support beyond the sale, so once it arrives I’m going on the assumption that the rest is on me. Hopefully it all works out.

Max, here’s my experience with Veyz, I was going to mention in the first video, but didn’t feel comfortable. I ordered a system back in 2021. With the intent to put it into a Peavey Raptor, I know, first mistake. It did work for a while, was going for a Jackson PC-1 style pickup styling. IIRC, they did send the diagram in the mail, and did send in our conversation on WhatsApp (which was a red flag for me). But after a while, it stopped working, had to replace a on on switch, before that, I tried to make it work, but after a while, stopped working. I regret going with them, should’ve went with Sustainiac, even if it cost me more. Or put it into a better husk. I partially blame myself, but they could’ve helped a little better.

Honestly I had a bad experience with their "sales representatives". They have like a dozen different people with the "Veyz" name in their profile on Facebook and Instagram which makes it all too confusing. I've seen a bunch of their ads for their custom guitars, which frankly look and sound very professional, and I was interested in ordering one. But each salesman gives a totally different price for the same specs which threw me off. I got anywhere from $700-$1200 for the same quotation question. They got defensive when I asked about the production process and pictures of their workshop for some reason. Anyway I respectfully backed out of the deal, but one of them called me a swear word in Indonesian lmao. It's a shame since their work seems nice.

Great video, you show that you take pride in your videos and have integrity. Most people don't do what you just did. That's why I watch your videos. You're a phenomenal guitar player and you open up my eyes to gear I might otherwise not even know is out there. Keep up the great work.

The VEYZ circuit has no Automatic Gain Control, unlike the 2 main manufacturers. It's a basic, hobbyist, LM386 circuit.

I absolutely believe (and I saw that 1st video) you are honest in your presentations. I discovered Wolf/AIO guitars and purchased 3 because of you channel, an Xavier purple Floyd Les Paul because of your channel and many, many others including my Fender GTX amp! Unlike pickups, with sustainer circuits there are so many variables I personally only own guitars like my Jackson PC1 and Burny's and lately, several Schecters that come from the factory with them. Keep on with the great recommendations and amazing playing!

This is something that is rare in RU-vid: an uploader who cares more about the truth than his ego. I don't know anything about this product, but THUMBS UP!!!

This also says a lot about the fact that people are so used to living in an Amazon world now where you can easily order with just a couple of clicks. And even more important, you can usually easily return it for a full refund. And with so many scammers out there, people are skeptical.

I really appreciate this, normally as long as a product is good for the maker of the video maker thats all that matters. So you have gained a subscriber for giving a voice to us without one. (Or without a channel to reach the public).

Thanks for the follow up. I personally won’t buy anything from anyone who makes the purchasing process needlessly complicated. Add to that the lack of customer support and I will have to pass on this sustainer system.

Appreciate the update as I just received mine Monday. No worries for me I have an electronics background. I did note the lack of schematic or diagrams but meh. You are correct though, if someone doesn't have experience wiring guitars this isn't going to work for them easily. The toughest part for me is figuring out which guitar to stick it in 😂. Max, I like your channel and think you have integrity… this shows it! BTW, I installed a Vega Trem V2 on my MIM Tele… I bought the model where you have just 2 holes to drill… it was a pretty easy install… I think the V2 is a good trem… it’s stiff compared to my Deusenberg trems, my Bigsby trems, and my Strat, Cyclone and Jaguar trems… it stays in tune and works well, but it’s subtle … I’m glad I installed it

I had a great experience with them. Ordered mine before his video though. You do have to message them but they’re pretty responsive.

So refreshing to see someone with some personal and professional integrity instead of the normal slew of YT 'celebs' who just go radio silent about it. Not surprised, though. Max always seemed like a standup dude.

For what it's worth, your original video led me to order one, and I'm very happy with it. Got a zebra sustainer and I like the look better than the official ones.

This video doesn't thwart my plans to do this to my strat, HOWEVER - I'm a 45 year old lefty who's basically HAD to learn how do wire/modify/swap everything to get my guitars - some have been righties - playable, with correct intonation & all - I really APPRECIATE the first review G.M., because I LOVE the sustainer effect!! But very commendable of you to keep us all in the loop on what to expect. 🤟

That's why forums exist! It's a collective knowledge platform when companies refuse to do this kind of support! I got a used JS32 Kelly, I couldn't even find a generic HH wiring diagram that was exactly the same this one was, got into forums, ended up buying an emg solderless kit for passive humbuckers! Even if you lack skills you can still do

I got a kit from Veys last year and had the same problems as you describe on this video. The order process was unorthodox to what I'm used to but it arrived all the same. I was initially worried it was a scam but that was an unnecessary concern. I had no wiring diagram supplied with the kit and I could only find a low resolution pic on the web which was almost impossible to see. The worst thing was, it failed after two weeks and got no support or offer to send it back for a replacement or refund. I have now bought a Schecter C-1 FR S SLS Elite with a Sustainiac pickup pre installed which I should receive tomorrow.

I think this is a great opportunity to point out that when it comes to guitar techy/geeky stuff like modding there are TONS of forums to join and interact with. 99% of the time there's gonna be people on that forum who know more than you on what you're dealing with. So even if that company doesn't get back to you, don't assume you've wasted your money or time. In my experience, the guitar modding (and especially DIY electronics/pickups) community is always looking to help share information whenever possible.

Oh man, I thought this was gonna be about quality. That's good to hear, to be honest. I have had a Sustainiac for over a decade, it was a waaay bigger hassle than what these ones look like to install. These look pretty simple. Something I thought was going to be an issue is the models that appear to have metal pickup covers on them, because if you read the manual for the Maniac Music Sustainiac, it figuratively says it cant go in any guitar with metal pickup rings, with a metal cover installed on it, on a guitar with more frets, or pretty much any guitar or else it will cause unwanted oscillation. Again, good to hear that puchasing and getting a diagram is the worst thing with these. If anything, this sold me even more. I mean, they are pretty much half the price of a Sustainiac. Good on you for following up!

Huge props to you and a lot of respect earned. I’ve been looking at a lot of guitars with Sustainiac pickups and came across your video a couple weeks ago, I was seriously considering purchasing one of their sustainers and installing it myself but I’m not the best electrician and this video saved me a couple hours of headaches. I hope with a vid like this they can “clean up” some of their quality control and sale issues. But cannot thank you enough man, not many people would do a follow up video like this and be so candid about their feelings towards the product/company, hopefully this motivates them to improve their business/product

I bought one before your video was out. I thought “uh oh - this won’t end well for Max and his subscribers”. Dude was high pressure with the messaging. The end result was not great at all. The wiring diagram was difficult even for my luthier. It worked just okay in sustain mode but in octave mode it was hot garbage. He continued messaging me trying to sell me more to the point where I had to block him.

Thanx for this video. This system WAS on my future list, but now I'm gonna hold back a while. Thanx a million for the word up !!!

I love Max’s channel, and appreciate him changing his mind about recommending this product. As well as poor customer service, the company is not licensing the technology and using the trademark without permission.

Glad to see this video. Here's the message I posted on the previous video : "Man, this Indonesian brand is a counterfeit of Sustainer and Sustainiac. They approached me as well. It shouldn’t be promoted, even if it sees to work well at first glance. Also, like those kind of “brands” they create dozens of profiles on social medias to spam their products on groups and people who like Satriani of Vai. Of course, I’m at you disposal to give you further information. I’m easy to find on social medias. Cheers" This kind of brand shouldn't be promoted for ethic reasons imho, because they steal from other companies and they're in direct concurrence with the same companies. As I was suspecting, reading people complaints just confirmed what I thought of the lack of quality on those pickups. The inconsistency is why a real brand has quality checks over the building process. As a content creator I think it's our responsability to bring our audience the best guarantees on the products we present on our videos. Also in cas you didn't know they still use your video that they have re-uploaded on their channel to promote themselves.

I had considered ordering one of these, because the cost of a guitar fitted with one is usually a little pricey. I probably still will order one. Thanks for the update and information Max!

Props to you Max for being true and loyal to your fans to warn them about some things that are not cut and dry. A new company has to go through growing pains to get things strait. That company should post their wiring diagrams online. This is why I stick with SD and Dimarzio that are tried and true in industry. The less headaches the better.

Glad to see this sort of follow-up. Really shows that you've got some true integrity here. It's why I'm subscribed! If people are interested in sustain guitar tech, I recommend checking out what Cycfi is doing with multi-channel sustain. Not very affordable though :-(

They actually reached out to me wondering if I'd be interested in working with them and order product. But I found the communication less than professional and it turned me off from further dealing with them.

Yeah no way Im chatting back and forth over whatsapp, or any kind of messenger service, when I expect to be dealing with a legit company

I went to the forums after seeing the video, and there were a lot of complaints about not being able to get it to work properly. I think the "customized" part is an ill thought out sales tactic. Ayyy, custom built to ordah! Single coil or humbucker sized, maybe an option for active or passive pickups, done. Four models total, easy to access online installation instructions - like any pickup manufacturer does with their color coding, for example.

Good video. I was going to make a video similar to this one but I imagine no one would watch it or care. Your summary is very similar to mine; not for everyone but cool. I like the veyz sustainers I have and will likely acquire more since they're affordable and work well. It's good to find a musician who's capable of nuanced thought.

Nice update and well said! I am actually considering a sustainer of some type for my Schecter Blackjack Avenger. This was one of my considerations, but, after seeing this, I may just go with a different manufacturer.

I think that is awesome, to have the option of this budget friendly sustainer system etc. One of their head guys that runs their socials keeps trying to get me onboard, or at the very least buy a few units. But I'm content with my setups, and pickup choice already. I do think it'd be cool to throw one in a random axe one day sure! But man, I get bombarded with "Can I interest you..." many times. Hi .. I also ordered asustainer pick up from the same company that you ordered from and I place the order after I watched your video. Thanks bro…you are awesome. It is true that when we place an order we will communicate with the seller directly thru text massagers and lastly about the payment is thru PayPal. It will take sometimes for the pick up to be delivered to you but they will definitely delivery it to you and yes the company will provide you the instruction about how to instal. I got mine and I have already install it to my guitar but of cuz I don’t do it my self 😂 bcuz I’m suck about tech thing. So I went to my guitar luthier shop to get it done and it works!!! Damn this sucks to hear. It seemed like a game changer SPECIALLY with the humbucker option... I've been thinking about these a lot and definitely planned on trying it out once I have some extra funds. Hopefully they tighten things up.

Im going through this with them right now. I’ve had nothing but problems. Ordered a guitar from Gibson with the intention of adding this immediately. I’ve played my guitar twice due to having nothing but trouble with the set up, due to no clear instructions, and slow responses.

Just a suggestion, Maybe you could scan the "correct" wiring diagram you have and post it up here for those who have had no luck getting the correct one or getting any at all.

Wow! I had their page bookmarked and kept open on my phone because I'm interested in adding this to my custom Ibby build. After looking things over, I think you either get a pre-built kit or you get it custom. If it can be custom, they would want to know your wiring setup and wire up a system for your guitar right? (just guessing here) I could understand the back and forth in this regard. Or they can finally get to a point where they can create a 'one kit for any guitar' type thing? 🤷🏾‍♂️ I've have made some transactions with over sea dealers like this before and I've had good experiences for the most part.

Hi max eh! It would be good if you took a look at the brand from Perth Australia called Ormsby Guitars since it is a very new brand for me personally and it seems to be good and high-end so much so that I would like you to decide on it one day. A segment of this brand in particular, even more so the headless fly v and the traditional fly v since these fly v have a familiarity with Rhandy Rhoads' guitar the link in the descripction this up ☝😎

I am calling BS on the made to order nature of the pickups being a reason that there is no "website". There are plenty of companies out there that do "made to order" items through websites. The Kiesel guitar builder is a fine example of how not to cut corners when running a company. Unless your a guitar tech and can do installs yourself this product isn't for you.

I am not sure if anyone else is having this issue but I bought one a few months ago and got it installed by techs and it seems that the neck pickup output is stupid low so I am not sure if it’s the way it was wired. I’ve owned a few Sustainiacs and Fernandez sustainers and the output on those are low but not to that they aren’t even picking up the signal.

Ok honestly it sounds like a great deal. So maybe if you do it again make an install video. Give everyone else some insight and let them see what to expect. But even if you don't ever do anything with it again it's still cool to know sustaniac is not the only option

I ended up here while researching cause i got a message from the company & have always wanted a Sustainer. I think there is a reason Sustainiac is twice the price. I can fit pickups but fuck trying to suss that out. I'll stick with my Line 6 Dr Distorto pedal for now, i can have Sustainer with all my guitars lol

I received my sustainer (just the single coil sustainer)about 2 weeks ago and... Yes indeed, no instructions or diagram came with it. I did order it though eBay and it was easy to get. Unfortunately,I didn't see either of your videos before I made my purchase, so I have to figure it out. Is there any information anywhere on how to install this thing to my guitar?

I ordered two sustainers in the humbucker version about a month ago...currently i'm still receiving mails from them which sustainer i want to have...i'm very curious what i will get, if i get anything at all...hope at least the sustainers will work..from their sales and customer service i expect the worst...

Sad that it's being marketed so badly! I can't even get on their website, it's being kicked out as not a safe website according to my antivirus program. They sell on Etsy and eBay. Etsy seems cheaper than eBay. This seems like a good product i can't figure out why it's being implemented so badly.

I never commented on the original video, but I didn't have a great experience. I ordered mine through Reverb, and while customer service was helpful, it never did work right. I didn't really follow up because it seemed like too much hassle, but I assumed I hadn't hooked it up right or something. Maybe I never got the correct diagram 😕

😢 I see the yellow HM strat is missing.. I bet you gave it to that guy in the video you posted a week or so ago . I will miss staring at the ol girl wondering. How good did it really play.. 😅

mine never worked. Was so weak that couldnt be used at all except of E low string. I think even the production is inconsistent. I'm still looking for a cheap sustainer so Im thinking now what to do...try anoter veyz or something else....
