In this episode I flip my Land Rover Defender on the side. Is the trip over?
Before the accident, I visit the beautiful Horse Shoe Bend near Lilloet, drive along the amazing Frasier River Valley, where I have to use a small ferry to cross the Frasier River. From there I make my way to the Gang Ranch and then continue on to the stunning Chilko Lake. Overlanding Canada and British Colombia at its best!

I´m really sorry for this (easily could have been avoided if the other driver would have stayed focused while driving) accident..you took the whole situation so calm, congrats to your peaceful state of mind! Hoping you will get at least any kind of compensation from the other drivers insurance so you can continue your trip as fast as possible 🙏🏼 Besides that, I really liked your video style - one can see totally how much work you put in the editing, great and keep on going! Best regards from currently Germany-, but also from a couple which is doing a pretty similar trip like yours, maybe we see us on the road one day! 🍀

Thank you, I appreciate it. Yes, it could have been a lot worse, but I also don't blame the guy. He was distracted/sleeping for a second - it could happen to any of us 🤷 Where in Germany are you? I'm in Mainz, in case you want to have a beer sometime 🍻

@@PipeDream.Adventures wir kommen aus Dortmund, genauer Witten - du bist ebenfalls herzlich eingeladen, solltest du mal in der Nähe sein :) In der Nähe von Mainz sind wir frühestens Anfang September wenn wir wieder von Frankfurt in die USA fliegen oder Anfang Oktober wenn wir zurück aus den USA kommen 🙏🏼

Wow close call! Driving tired really is dangerous, reminds me when i used to almost nod off, some computer assistance would be nice there. They have bumpy shoulders here in Ontario (Canada) to wake people up who drift off but i dont think theres anything for crossing the center line. Geez! Anyway beautiful scenery, i didnt realize Frasier Valley was so dry eitehr . I think the new El Nino pattern has brought dryness to areas who didnt have it and wetness to dry areas it seems. Here in ontario we're getting plenty of rain and plenty of sunshine so its turning into a Jungle of vegetation. Hope to see you come by here eventualy if you havent already (just found your channel). Congrats on surviving.

Your """ soft brakes "", that is why some of us have Exhaust brakes or the truckers have Jake Brakes. As well to use lower gearing so the engine slows /reduces the vehicles speed. Do notice that highways have the Trucks use lower gears.

Oh no 😖😢. Glad your ok 😁. hope the landy is not hurt to bad . we flipped ares on its side but we’re hit ( side swiped ) so ares was hurt on both sides . But was still repairable . Drove it another 100 thousand miles then sold it to friends . Glad you are safe...what type of pop top do you have? Do you have a roll bar?

Thx. It's a DIY poptop. I've designed And built it myself. It's a no-weld design, so it's just riveted together (it's a Land Rover after all 😉). Luckily it's really sturdy. I think without it, the damage to the car would have been much more severe! I don't have a roll bar, as it's pretty difficult with the pop top, but (I think) the poptop itself gives the truck quite a lot of rigidity.

The main thing is that you are ok, vehicles can be fixed (and camera lenses replaced!) Stay safe and here's hoping the Defender is repairable.

I got (really) annoyed, once discovered the insurance laws in British Colombia and the insurance company told me, that they won't cover my damages...

@@PipeDream.Adventures Gutted for you matey, think it's a lesson to all would-be overlanderes, having a cheaper vehicle so it's more 'disposable'... it's part of the reason that I'm selling the big truck and going something smaller/cheaper... that way if the worst happens it's not the end of the world.
