I Created A 50 State US Battle Simulator! 

This was kind of just a giant experiment. I’m loving all the suggestions on how I can improve it for next time!

My only issue with this, is that there should have been a ran domizer to decide who won the war, intead of just assuming the first side won.

Whenever there's a battle between states you should flip a coin whether they succeed or not

I love how Washington only played once while seeing their own ally get murdered but still survived till the end

Mini history lesson for anyone curious: Maine and Louisiana actually share a lot of history together. We both share the “weird French people” as you affectionately call LA lol Acadians (aka Cajuns) can still be found in abundance in Northern Maine today! So their alliance actually makes a lot of sense.

There are no benefits to alliance in this game lol , if your friend gets conquered you get conqeured

I feel like when a single state invades an alliance of two the alliance should win because more states, makes more sense and also gives the alliance more meaning, maybe you can make a similar video for the whole world. Edit: a lot of people have talked about population and other factors which is absolutely true but that makes the game too complex, i talked about the alliance system because it just felt like a useless system and even a liability at times

It’s good to see a fellow American have a geography channel to show that not all of us are dumb. There are some Americans who aren’t bad with geography.

I find it funny that Washington made one alliance in the beginning and once Missouri got eliminated, Washington was just so quiet! And no one bothered them. They were just… there 😂

Some improvement suggestions: - Roll ideologies first. Use Millennium Dawn ideologies. - When forming an alliance, roll 1d4. The alliance only succeeds if the result is 3+, 2+ for same ideology. - States are merged upon forming an alliance, getting a new name (faction name, influenced by ideology, geography, etc. or just smth fun) - War only allows the attacker to take land equal to 50% of their current size + and any "core land" that was stolen from them.

When I saw the title of the video I was like "oh cool. I wonder how he did it. What factors did he try and use. Population, supplies, military strength, terrain, state wealth.". Then I watched the video... "Well, that was... interesting."

The best part was the constant changing of the rules along the way. Definitely made it more chaotic.

love the video, but what I’d love to see is an option on the wheel called independence, which would make it that if it got invaded, that state would in no matter what

You forgot the "Alliance" rule; If one state fights an alliance, they lose and join to the closest state. If an alliance fights a larger alliance, they lose and join the largest state. If two equal alliances fight, the aggressor loses a state.

To make the Virginian Empire, you need Virginia and West Virginia. Edit: just saying that Florida and Alaska be allies reminds me of 1939 of poland

If y'all want a lot more of this, a channel called simulated has done pretty much the same thing a bunch of times lol. They are pretty fun.

6:30-6:40 was the greatest part of this video.

As a Washingtonian, I can confirm that we would do absolutely nothing other than accept an alliance proposal then watch as our ally dies.

I know Drew probably will never see this, but I just gotta say it. This video led me to spend hours upon hours with this idea and evolving it. This video was a week old when I first started, and my first version was basically this with a couple small things added. Since then I've added military scores, town building, natural disasters, resources, and much more. The turns started taking so long with all the spinners and equations that I made a small script that gives all the results at once, I just need to change the map each turn. I have spent countless hours working with this simple concept Drew made and I have had so much fun every time. Thanks, Drew. I'm really glad you made this video.

What's the point of having alliances if they don't prevent members from attacking each other or bolster members in combat? That aspect, in this game, seems entirely irrelevant.

Would love to see this but with Europe, or even on a global level.

As I’m sure people have already pointed out, the abbreviation for Arkansas is AR (common mistake, we’re not really offended by it) 2. Arkansas was once a part of the Missouri Territory (pre-statehood), so the Arkansas/Missouri conglomerate is somewhat historically precedented… 🤔

Idea: If the wheel lands on a state that’s already eliminated, it can either rebel when at war, become autonomous at an alliance, and overthrow the government that took over the state.

Why does it feel so accurate that Wisconsin would be involved in one single fight and then be like "nah, lets go drink beer and watch everyone else kill eachother" 😂, ends up the only green state that everyone else just kind of shrugs at, much like our sports teams.

Solution to fix alliances: Introduce a chance concept that would give a smaller alliance (or single state) less odds to beat more states. If one state is attacking 3 states, then make the odds of them winning: total number of states attacking/total states fighting which would give the one state a 1 in 4 chance of winning. This would give a massive alliance a higher chance of winning because the odds are simply in their favor and it works because you stated that all states are equal in the beginning of the video. Edit: Also for the chance concept, use a random number generator with numbers 1-100 and if we use the pervious example of 1 vs. 3, then any number between 1 and 25 would give the victory to the small state.

This is awesome to see. When I was a kid (70s and 80s) I would make my own games using dice/spinners/charts. This continued for 20 years when i did the same for MS fs9 and fsx to completely randomize it, but with cooler jobs. I preferred plane repo somewhere in the Everglades or drug running from South America, but was not apposed to party-hopping in Hawaii flights.
