This so good; for zero experience this is amazing in just a week. I’ve been trying to do something similar but I am still practicing my body proportions. It’s so hard to do honestly 😅
Jeez…. Please dont rely on 3d model too much. It can only do more harm than good. 3d model best use is for very dynamic pose or hard angle you would not see normally. I have friends who used that and it has no charm AT ALL. The characters have the same body, stiff pose and unnatural looking. Also, with background using AI generated. There’s nothing wring with that but the problem will be “consistency” When you have a slight change of bg (same bg but different angle) how will you gonna recreate it? AI wont remember for you that 3 panels ago, there’s a door on the left side, circular window or hay as roof. Using tools for help making fast progress is not a bad thing, but also needs to already understand some basic and fundamental things about “why” or “how” or “what purpose” before you further using it. Anyway, experience with many many things and find what suit you best. Art has no restrictions but understand the root of it will definitely make you stand above “just generic”
I understand why you used ai but i wouldnt make it a habit of using it. Yes it can be a tool but please be mindful of how harmful ai can get among artists. The fact youre drawing at all is absolutely stellar. Please continue your art journey without relying on ai in the future. There are free stock images and 3d assets readily available for you to use.
I also making my manga.. i didnt want to do it but i have to... its for an exam in my major, the deadline is only a few days left HAHAHAHAHHAH I need sleep fr :)
@@joae1234 its visual communication design major, idk how is it on the other college but in my college there are class mixed with my major like Photography, Digital comic, Game designer and many more
Great work for the first experience! I don't usually read manga, but I know that people read them from right to left. Keep an eye on 180 degree rule. For the next project, I suggest to start with a establishing shot on full page (yours is too small). I agree with the use of AI, but, if you use it for photobashing in environment, consistency may fail because, when you don't use it, I see a differt style. I suggest you to use AI for environment like you used it for character. It takes more time, but how you experimented, in the following days you were faster. Good job, have fun! (Ever thought about not doing shadows?)
appreciate all the feedback! i made a mistake with the direction and went more western, it wasn't something i realized until after making the chapter sadly. for the first page i intended to make a different one to start but this one worked well so i just kept it in sake of saving time. The AI background was just an experiment, not planning on doing it for the rest of the project but was curious to see how effective it could be :) as for the shadows i really like how they look this way, so maybe in the future but for now i like it
It becomes easier when you get used to it You’ll have a more refined process from the amount of experience and feedback you get And Manga professionals rarely work alone some people be trying to do things alone expecting to get same results as people who have assistants to help them Burn out is more likely the outcome
100% that's why i tried using methods to speed up the process, some people got bothered by the usage of AI for scenery but i felt as though it was justified :(
What you have so far is interesting!!! Though I do say I think it would be better if you learned to photobash instead of using AI bc a.) AI steals art from artists and only becomes harder to spot the more it's used, B.) is awful for the environment and C.) has a lot of inconsistency issues and in the end could be a detriment. As you said making environments in the Sims could help, and I know of people who use Minecraft or Sketchup / Sketchfab to find environment references, too. I do get why you used it since I struggle quite a bit with environments too, but it would help in the long run to develop that skill and not rely on AI. Also - be careful with tangents! Your redone 4th panel has a tangent with the speech bubble tail and the character's lineart, and it could lead to some awkward / confusing layouts. Aside from that though, this looks promising and I can't wait to see the rest!
It is indeed possible to make an entertaining story with only two pages per chapter; many older European comics were serialised in 1-4 page weekly installments (although their pages generally have around 6-12 panels), and comics strips used to have long-form narratives with only one row of panels per day (or 6 rows +1 Sunday page per week). A more recent English-language example of a comic with only a few pages per chapter is the Hellboy story "The Corpse," which had installments of only two pages but was nonetheless very entertaining. It's all about keeping the story engaging enough so each installment is satisfying on its own, but also develops the collective story.
If your going for a Japanese type of last name I think Dorian Saisei or Dorian Tenshi would both be good ones since they both have the meaning of being reborn/reincarnation
woah that's a really good idea, he's a european character since his first name currently isn't Japanese. But... i really like that last name for potentially a future villain... or side character :)
im not that good at art myself but i do recommend when tracing do it for learning. Tracing really helped me learn anatomy but relying too much on it wont help me or anybody else. good video tho
In my opinion, I think you vary your style too much. Some characters look way more realistic than others. Try to keep a more consistent art style when making characters.
You kinda motivated me to actually start drawing my comic. I mean I wont show it to anyone, but I have SO many ideas and ocs and I always think that wait, I still dont know how to do this and that and shit, but I have to start from something, right? Good vid. Also I dont reccomend using AI because it takes a lot of energy to create anything here, so yeah but overall cool vid bro❤
AI isnt bad to use when it's simply for inspiration, it's a tool that can be used to improve your work and give ideas :) We gotta stop looking at it so negatively when using it to help improve a process!
@@halioweens you didn't just use it for inspiration though you generated a background and slapped a filter on it it's one thing to just use it for inspiration but that's not what you did
Hi love the video and thanks for making me continue to TRY and make my manga even though it is costing me my mental health😂😅😢 Btw what ai did you use for you background?
art is completely subjective! so as long as you are trying and doing your best you will improve and it can catch the eye of publishers, just try your hardest to follow simple concepts like proper anatomy, pacing, and good story-telling :)
@@halioweens thanks 🙏 Im also wondering if you could teach me how to draw like it you don’t mind my drawing are kinda Dookey and I’m just trying to learn if you don’t mind!
This is how I know you’ve NEVER picked up a pencil before in your life💀 drawing backgrounds from scratch just takes time he simply doesn’t have so idk why ur acting like it’ll take 20 mins to do
it's the first panel of a series where i'm learning? and i'm also trying to speed up the process. Use common sense for a moment and be reasonable. It was my first time making a manga and I tried different methods for my process, every video after this one i don't touch AI, so i don't understand your hatred.
@@halioweens buddy I'm not gonna watch your "every video after this", but using ai and tracing is not good for a starting artist, learn how to draw without those and then start a series or let your current skill show there's no shame in that, that's all👍🏻
"I didn't wanna directly take inspiration from other people's work" so you used a thing that uses other people's work to generate an image? I get it but c'mon man 😭💀
I want to support this so hard, but the constant use of AI in this video is... ahhhh. Love artists reclaiming AI, but honestly promoting it in any way... gahh. Wish it would just disappear entirely. Feel like other artists promoting its use encourages it and makes it more popular, when it's stolen artwork from artists who didn't consent. Like, you're using an amalgamation of stolen artwork for your backgrounds, and that feels off, y'know?
@@halioweens Oooh wait that’s awesome you’ve moved away from it! I first watched your “100 hours making a manga” and definitely want to keep checking out future videos of yours, and it makes me feel relieved honestly that you’re not planning to keep using AI Your art is awesome and your videos are super interesting so, kudos❤️❤️❤️
6:15 although the face and everything is good, the hair doesn't really match the character maybe try adding more detail into the hairs e.g. adding strokes or something like that.
