I've been cutting my own hair for about 5 years now and there are a few things I've learned over the past years: 1. Don't cut it when it's wet. I know, hair dressers do it that way, but as a non-professional that's not recommended. You also shouldn't cut it right after washing it. I get the best results when it's a bit greasy and not as puffy and silky anymore. 2. The method you used is a bit more comfortable, but there's so much room for errors. The method I recommend is making one ponytail right under your chin and then pushing the headband down to where you want the cut to be. But be careful to not look down or up while doing that because it will make it have either a v-shaped cut or become a long-bob. 3. Always cut below the headband! This way you can fix the cut if it's crooked. And there's a 90% chance that it will be crooked if you cut it in one go. And most importantly: Don't overthink it. :) It's just hair.

For anyone wondering why it’s £30 first most hairdressers only get 60% of the money they make due to renting a chair in a salon takes 40% and then on top of that scissors are anywhere from £80-£500 (mine were £270) then product which is usually £20-40 for a bottle, then also time which a wash cut and dry takes an hour on average then also brushes and hairdryers, it’s not cheap unfortunately... if you want a cheap cut get an apprentice to cut your hair
