Cop: If you don’t tell me your name, date of birth, address, and if you’re an organ donor, you might distract me from my traffic stop. I need you to leave my scene unless you’re willing to identify yourself. Cops like these are either extremely ignorant or extremely petty, and will go the extra mile to inconvenience you for not submitting to them.
"If you don't ID, we don't know who we're talking to." Shit, man...I talk to LOTS of people I don't know every idea, and it has never occurred to me that I should ID any of them!
I think I will just continue to take safe harbour here in this big metal can, thanks. You know, instead of walking down a roadway where I might get hit by poorly trained drivers. Remember that whole "you're not responsible for my safety" thing? Unless, of course, you WANT to be named as a defendant in the injury lawsuit for having created the unsafe conditions, officer.
Seems that most cops have this rule where you're entitled to exercise your constitutional rights but they have every right to deny you your constitutional rights because of reasons.
That cop is an idiot you are part if a stop if you are in the vehicle you can't just get out and walk away. There is no way I would have left the stop. I'd have gotten out if he told me to but I wouldn't have left.
These guys were getting completely played he should not have gotten out of the car the best they could do is make him get out and stand by they can't tell him to leave so that they can abuse the other person without Witnesses it's amazing how stupid people are when they don't truly understand their rights. The biggest thing is stop talking to them.
What is the officer name and what police department does he work out of? Just making comments about the situation doesn’t help. Everyone needs to call and complain about this officer. This department seems to be perfect for first amendment auditor
This game is always the same. Mince words to trick people to give up their rights. There a very select few words anyone should care about when interacting with LEOs... Detained, Arrested, Order, Demand. Invoke ALL rights. Then STFU! The only time you should speak from this point forward is to ask questions. Am I detained or under arrest? Am I suspected of a crime? Are you ordering me to...? Are you demanding me to... ? Do you have a warrant? The only time you should ever offer information while being suspected of anything is to quell alarm or suspicion. You do not have to, but you can't beat the ride, and any civil claim could be found invalid.
They all loved to film COPS without anyone's permission, now they take offense at being filmed. People that object to being filmed are obviously doing something wrong.
