The adaptive brightness being reversed from what you expect is normal for TN monitors. TN usually have terrible black levels and saturation compared to other digital monitor tech so the brightness goes up on bright scenes so colors pop and goes down on dark scenes to make blacks darker. Sometimes it’s a setting but it can also be baked into the driver board. Zone dimming is a more modern implementation of the same idea that darkens the backlight only for dark colors.

This video is so good man. The one thing i have started to dislike in the speed running documentaries is that after most things have been explained and youve been wwtching a good minute, Going over the runs in between the start and the record, The footage and what people talk about gets real stale, real quick. Reusing the same footage or reshowing the exact same parts over and over, Just maybe a tenth of a second faster, gets old real fast and i turn the video off. But i mean holy fuck dude this video is 2 hours long and I actually watched just about all of the video. Just listened to the audio of the parts i didnt watch. But still. Fuckin banger. I can only imagine the stress you were feeling when you're putting so nuch into getting the record, Being still a couple minutes off and then luke comes and grabs the record. Really had to put the pressure on you and maybe even started to doubt yourself. But you pushed through and got an INSANE world record. Congratulations on that, You earned the fuck out of that record. Also, The bit of your one buddy attempting to speedrun for the first time was a great addition. broke up the staleness and got me to laugh ahaha. All love to you and the discord boys.

New sub, really enjoying. Just one thing: adaptive brightness always works this way. The idea is that when it’s bright out, you need a brighter display to actually see anything. When it’s darker, you’ll have a visible display with less backlight. If you want to fix this you could tape an LED to the sensor on your monitor and trick it into thinking it needs max brightness

1:42 amazing to see that Ovendonkey speedrun of Mirror's Edge during SGDQ. That run will always be legendary to me because that was the run that got me into speed running a decade ago. After that I played mirrors edge for hundreds of hours trying to set good times. It really is a hard game, they weren't kidding during the livestream. well anyway, back to the video!

im just suprised load times are calculated into the final time usually those are taken out to adjust for internet differences

@25:56 dont know if it matters all too much to ya now but you can set a 1 sec delay in livesplit so it syncs up with the capture, i had the same old elgato for a while and i had to do that lol

29:52 I've got the same monitor. I was always wondering why I couldn't see

something I find weird is that the ps3 emulator works best with AMD. Ive had a i5 6400 and i5 8400 both cpus had some weird audio glitch which is in the video, but the 6400 was stuttering. soon as I upgraded to a ryzen 7 5800x all the problems was fixed. my friend tried running the game on a i7 12th gen, same problem as the i5 8400 just audio stutters and ocational sutters/slowdowns. very weird
