@@CP1871 While I can applaud the idea, if scambaiters started stealing money from the scammers, they could actually be arrested and tried for theft. It's _technically_ illegal to delete the scammer's files and mess with their computers, but US authorities generally won't pursue any legal action against them because the scammers are committing a greater crime. However, reversing the scam and stealing money from the scammers would still be theft that could result in legal charges.

Agreed, especially as he often procures information such as the numbers of victims, their IP address etc. Turn that info in to the authorities for a set fee and demand the fraud department actually take action; they can't shrug their shoulders and say they don't know where to start when all the information is procured for them.

@Sal m the flaw in that is they probably wouldn't know the person that called the first time even if it was a real google rep. Most large companies hire smaller companies that have call centers all over the country or world to provide their customer service or sales or tech support or whatever for the customers so it's very unlikely you'll ever get two reps that actually know each other

Watch just one spy movie and pay attention to the “legend” that has to be created 59 pull it off. If scammers pretend to be a government agencies, they don’t normally even get the name right (Internal Revenue Agency, Central International Agents, etc.).

I don't get it when people say things like that, why would he want to give control of his enterprise to Netflix and why would we want to pay to watch it when we are watching it for free.

This is not 60's telephone networks. You can figure them out in seconds, but you will only get a general idea unless the ISP cooperates. They have logs and can look back years. All you need is an outside ip for them.

I gave that response once 😂 A scammer called me up and by coincidence, I was waiting for a call from my bank so believed him for a brief time. When I figured it out, I just started to mess with him. "Is anyone beside you, Miss Heaton?" "Oh, Jesus. He's always with me. Are you religious, darling?" The scammer was getting fairly pissed off and hung up shortly afterwards 😂
