English is a compulsory subject at school from Standard 1 to Form 5 similar to the US elementary up to high school. Students have English lessons almost every day. But like other subjects, there are people that are good at it and there are people that are bad in English. Worst case, Malaysians generally understand English. Unless they are not Malaysians.

LOL- this is really interesting! Thank you. You're becoming more "Malaysian" every day... TIP: If you come across any "local" who does not speak English- to your standard (or better) they're usually not Malaysian (or Singaporean), but some other South East Asian. There are hidden trash cans at every stall where you can "tumpang" (bandwagon/ catch a ride) throw- you could've thrown it at that KK mart too!!!

Of course bro. FIRST, Malaysia was once colonized by the British. In addition, the British also provide English-medium schools. Second, if you watch movies on national TV in Indonesia and Thailand, you will get Hollywood movies dubbed into their national languages. The difference in Malaysia remains the original language of the film regardless of whether it is from Japan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Australia, British or the United States.

nope...its not a foregone assumption that those massage parlours offer extended services...for one, the seedier outlets wouldnt open on mainstreet Bukit Bintang and will instead choose other backlane locations. and another thing, most shops look like they have male masseurs on service, so its less likely to offer beyond standard above-board services for male & female customers. And especially, if the (female) masseurs are local citizens, theres lesser economic incentives to do extras (and risk breaking the law) compared with maybe masseurs from improvished regions in thailand or vietnam.

Why do you keep on saying 'working ladies'? I find it's slightly (HIGHLY) offensive actually. Me & my ladies used to hang out at those places. Those are when we go out & some would wear sexy just for the fun of it. And no, we are not prostitute. It's illegal in Malaysia. Those places could get raided by officials if anything like that openly goes on. It happened b4 & the whole street got closed off. Not to be 'mean' but kindly don't equate this to the nightlife scene in Thailand. It's a different ballgame. Do those 'working ladies' (also working men) exist? Yes but usually not openly. There's several places that it happen. There used to be some closed door strip clubs too. And the massage parlour, yes some of them offered 'special service'. But most just regular massage. The reason why, those area had been designated to easily employ foreign workers. Honestly, you should try some of them. I saw one that is quite well known.
@benfishermin
@benfishermin Месяц назад
I say it because the street is lined with working women, mostly immigrants. I was offered many times off camera just by looking at them and it’s well known that this goes on in that street. It has nothing to do with you and your friends, of course there are also lots of non-working women around just hanging out, going clubbing or to bars etc. Im sure majority of the massage parlors are legitimate and some offer additional services, usually it’s quite obvious which ones are which (uniform clothing vs 'sexy outfits'). There’s a difference between ladies standing on the street in sexy clothing staring me down or soliciting me, versus you and your friends just hanging out over there in whatever clothing you like. It’s naive to think that this is not happening over there just because it’s illegal, those women on that street in that line of work are not even here legally and are not Malaysian. It’s not legal in Thailand either it’s just tolerated, of course it’s different.
@jacqmichael9771
@jacqmichael9771 Месяц назад
@@benfishermin Now I'm curious. Which streets you go to? There was reports a few years back & it was stamped down by the authorities. Once a while, some of the clubs still got raided. I walked around there by myself & didn't see much suspicious things. Don't tell me those groups coming out harassing 'kwailos"? I'm a bit frustrated (sorry bout that, malaysian are nice generally), from experiences, I instead got approach by foreigners 'offering' their service. Like, bruhhh, I'm just standing here waiting for Grab.

Night spots in Malaysia need to close by 2am by law. So peak is 11pm to 1am

Hm so do the places closing at 3am and later just take a risk or they pay off the cops?

Congrats Ben👍on having reached Putrajaya : The most walkable city only in Malaysia; haha If given choice with unlimited funds I will choose to live in Putrajaya. My sister and her family lives in Putrajaya but works in Kuala Lumpur( KLCC) She done her Master Degree in Iowa Uni and then completed Phd. at Denver University ( 2 months just before Covid19 break out) Denver is the 2nd most walkable city in U.S if I am not mistaken. She would walked every day to reach the Denver Uni campus. Although it would take her 15 minutes by walking she love it. My sister said this was because combination of cool weather and walkable city made it enjoyable to walk☺
