And good art is the art that makes you connect with the topics that bother you. So that's absolutely logical that this ep made you think about current politics. That's why this show is so good
I remember the 1st time watching this and I felt this overwhelming sense of being proud of the Doctor for being more Doctorly than ever before with this speech. He solved the issue with words and it was magnificent. Even more impressive to know it was all done in one take. As for the politics, I don't know how bad it has gotten there, but there are people here on the far right that are just completely divorced from reality and have even begun to say the quiet parts out loud at the type of authoritarian crazy train they want us all to ride on, and it is terrifying. I wish I knew how to wake people up. Every now and again I see stories of people breaking free from the lies, so there is hope. I guess hold onto that. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
If you don't like them side step a cliffhanger, you aren't going love Classic Who.😊 I still say that browser history has Caravan stuff on it.😂 'Big Bang Theory' comedy mentioned Doctor spends a lot of time in London - 'getting shot at' is arguably the response. Sullivan gas - you met companion Harry Sullivan during your Genesis watch - he almost got his leg caught in the clam?
This episode is one of my favorite of Capaldi ! This speech give me such a shill. It was a stunning performance in term of acting ! It's here that Capaldi became my favorite Doctor. I loved Jenna Coleman acting too ! It's cool to see her in a more dark role in this series ! I loved Osgood to ! I think it's an underrated character in the series !
@@richardvinsen2385 Hi Richard, I'm Nicole's moderator. Nicole considers *anything* in the future to be a spoiler, including hints. One reason is that if several different people hint in different ways about something, reading all those comments can together reveal what happens even if each individual comment wasn't enough by itself to reveal anything. She really does want to know *nothing* ahead of the current episode.
That speach! One of the greatest moments in all of doctor who for me. (Its a shame that these episodes are not the best) Peter capaldi just demonstrating how good of an actor he is. His range of emotions just cements him as my favourite doctors ever. He just gets better and better.
I think that it's a terrible thing that politics are taboo... To be uncomfortable talking about politics is in itself a conservative perspective, and therefore political. To avoid such topics is polite and therefore liberal.
I know what is happening in the world, I know the secrets, I know how it works, who is to blame, why all this is happening. But I won't tell. Politics is a dirty business, they don’t talk about it because it can easily antagonize people, that’s why they don’t talk about it. Smart people from above will decide for themselves what to do and how to do it, and you don’t interfere. In any case, this channel is for a pleasant viewing of Doctor Who :) And this is not the place for a scandalous conversation about this. So let's continue to enjoy the show and continue to ignore the unpleasant topic.
Other way round. A lot of two partners start strong and obviously can't maintain that uphill slope. This one does a lot of prep in the first one, and the second half is even better.
I have to agree with Michael! And I say that as someone who's never been much of a fan of the Capaldi era. For me the first episode has some issues, but this episode does a great job of evolving the plot into something outstanding. I'd be interested (genuinely) to hear your argument against this story.
@@annieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i disagree with his shut up or put up attitude towards bonnie. If you want to oversimplify that to "disagreeing that terrorism is bad", that's on you
@@ab-mc2nq wasn't the whole point that they'd both agreed the terms were fair when they were able to be completely objective (didn't know which side they were on) so yeah I'd say put up with the best possible solution rather than risking murdering your entire race but that's me
@@annieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i'm talking about the "scale model of war", the idea that this describes all conflicts, not just the ones that rely on ridiculous sci-fi concepts. But also they weren't omniscient in that place, and only a few zygons were speaking for all of them (and vice-versa for humanity)
