The Crown Vic is a beautiful beast. I daily drive mine in Ohio and it's never let me down. It sat for 3 years in a police department parking lot and, after a tire fill and battery jump, it's never given up since. That was over a year and half ago and I've only done fluid changes. Great buy! Let us know more!

These cars are tanks.. the body on chassis design essentially makes these things trucks. I cant think of another car where a 1999 looks like a 2011.. solid platform. I've got an 08 cvpi dark blue with the Setina PB400, partition, window bars spotlight all the goodies still in her for $3k back in 2014 120k on her now & its still the only car out of the 4 cars i own that hasn't had any issues in the 10 years ive had it! Safe, reliable, cheap & 250hp? what more could you ask!

HUGE CROWN VIC UPGRADES TO DO. A early 2000’s ford explorer or mercury mountaineer center console drops right in between the two front seats. Also to get cruise control all you have to do is replace the steering wheel with one that has the buttons, then take it to a ford dealership to have them turn on the option on the computer. Super easy and makes life so much better! Best car ever built!

An adequate replacement would be a V8 F150 Tremor, or maybe one of them HD trucks like the sierra 2500 AT4X. All of thems are your style. (Coming from a car guy, soz)

If you have a suitable mechanical genius, stick a 5.0 supercharged Ford AJ-V8 with a ZF 8HP box in the Vic, as found in a Jag XJR. Silky smooth for everyday cruising, great sound, and it should do north of 155 mph and get there quick with the right axle.

Toyota is the way to go. Put 200k on my Taco with no problem. Camry over 100k. Wifes Highlander like 150k. Zero issues with any. Just bought a last gen Tundra (V8) with close to 300k from OG owner, to pull the camper. Owner said has had to do nothing but basic maint. But do yourself a favor and get a last gen v8, i'd stay away from their turbos for a while.

Get an old car/truck of your choosing for under 10k and put like 50k-60k into it. it will out live the every other vehicle in the fleet, hand on a bible swayer to God!

I can't believe old cop vics are going for that price!!! I used to be able to get them for $500 with those miles on it BEFORE BIDEN. Could get a granny-owned one with low miles and all the options for like $1000!

When I made Patrol Supervisor in 2021, the Colonel in charge of Fleet Operations told me I could pick any car in the whole fleet as my personal "supervisor" car. There were many options, but I chose one of the last two CVPI's left in the fleet. They had an older black and white that used to be an old training car (still had the passenger side peddles lol) and was running on nothing but hopes and dreams at that point, and an all black 2011 with better lights (including better controls) and had just completed a tune up. Out of all the newer, nicer vehicles...everything from Taurus's to Tahoes to F150's and RAM 1500's, I chose the all black 2011 CVPI. Why? Why a CVPI over a decade after the last one rolled out of the factory? All of the idle time, hard driving, nasty food crumbs, degusting backseat adventures, and other horrid things it must have went through in all that time...and I didnt care. Because every officer that has ever actually worn a Sam Browne on duty and carried most of their gear on their belt before vests really took off, knows that the CVPI is the single most comfortable duty car ever made. The Taurus has a pretty sweet look kitted out, but its ungodly uncomfortable. The trucks are all single cabs (no backseat, not meant for transport duties) so cant recline back much at all, the Tahoe is mostly cool but always activates some motion sickness on every turn, and the dodge line-up is pretty sick but personally feels like sitting on a brick after a few hours on duty. As far as Im concerned, God is dead and Ford killed him in 2011. RIP Crown Vic, you will be forever missed, until Ford brings you back in 15 years as a completely different vehicle that sucks and only shares a name badge...then you will be misremembered forever.

Definitely get a Toyota! I crashed a Corolla doing around 90 miles an hour, landed upside down in a creek and still had to turn it off so I could hear everyone over the stereo. I have never been disappointed by a Toyota, but have had 3 Dodge's try to kill me (tire shooting off at 70 mph, electrical system overloading twice in TX on 115 degree days, cylinders literally fragging, etc).
