Well tbh to be a veteran you have to have served and then retired from the military, so technically the people in conflicts are not veterans. This. What you said here is so right. Congress aka the gqp like to talk tough about supporting the military, but when it comes down to it, they keep gutting funding for the vets when they come home. If people do not believe me, look at how much percentage wise each vet gets when it comes to how much they get for funding of their healthcare of the VA.

Or at our own hands. The VA's job is to give the absolute bare minimum care and money to veterans as legally possible. The PACT Act proves it. The VA came out and said 'we know that these veterans got these illnesses and cancer because of their service, but we're not going to give them benefits unless Congress removes the income caps for all of our top employees and increase our funding'. Veterans with depression caused by their service are automatically entitled to a 30-50% disability rating. Suicidal thoughts or actions automatically increase it to 70%, and the impact is has on your daily life increases the rating from there. So VA disability evaluators reclassify it as bullshit like somatic symptom disorder to rate it even lower. That's what they did to me, and I'm lucky I even got an increase. I was forced into medical retirement at 26, and left the military needing to use a walking cane and being on pain meds for the rest of my life. I was only getting $470/month when I got out, and it took 4 years, 3 separate attempts to get it increased, and hiring an attorney to get it bumped up to $2k/month. My injuries have continued worsening to the point where I'm now bedridden and haven't been able to work for 3 years, and I'm still $1600/month short of the maximum

A rally I went to did that, and it was a good thing until police and some other assholes with….certain tattoos “intervened” by which I mean beat several people enough to be sent to the hospital. Exactly! I work with helping people on fixed incomes plan for their final expenses(funeral costs, medical, etc.) And none of them are less taken care of than disabled vets. Yeah the VA covers the plot and burial (only in state cemeteries of course), but they barely give anything to medical costs that the families *have* to pay for, which can reach the thousands in terms of cost. It's a terrible system for those who sacrifice their lives to protect this country. Undeniably shameful.

@@garboge I recently moved from South Africa to the US and started my first day in high school the beginning of the year...I tell you I was mega creeped out by the way people were so serious about the pledge. At first I used to do it so that no one gave me looks because I get anxious in social settings but then I stopped caring. Some dude even came to me and asked why I didn't stand and I mmade the excuse that "I'm pretty anxious" and he left me alone. In South Africa, even taking the country serious is seen as pretty ridiculous. A good chunk of South Africans will agree that S.A is a shit hole and we shit on it all the time. I'm just waiting for the day I'll be sitting on my ass, not giving a shit and someone confronting me about not standing for the pledge. I just know one stinking kid is gonna do that shit...

Find a military retiree that has both dealt with the VA and Tricare, and ask them which is better: health insurance that you can choose your provider, or healthcare run by the government. I've dealt with both, and the VA is a small insight into what universal healthcare in the US would look like. I moved between regions for my health insurance, so I went to the VA instead of having a lapse in care while getting switched over. The next available appointment was 6 months out. I was coming from an established pain management specialist with a stable history of being on the same medication and dosage for over 3 years. They gave me a prescription for ibuprofen and told me that I had to wait 14 months to see their pain management doctor in order to be eligible for a prescription of Tramadol. Universal healthcare is not the solution everyone thinks it would be, and there's a reason why some Canadians choose to come to the US for treatments and surgeries instead of waiting for treatment at home. This was back in 2013, but one of my work contacts in Canada needed his knee replaced, but it was considered to be an elective surgery because of his age and occupation, and was waiting for over 5 years to get the surgery before he came to the US and paid out-of-pocket for it.

The removal, deconstruct, and restructuring of one's primary and / or secondary reproductive organs is not considered a life-threatening condition unless another underlying condition examples being: breast, testicular, ovarian cancers or another particularly irregular medical conditions on the like, in the nature of an outside impact on said area for the body. In other words, if you think you need "Gender reaffirming care" go to therapy first or pay for it yourself. Defying biology should not be on the expense of others.
