Wow, to start with I thought it wasn't going to be so good, but I'm glad I stayed the course, that eye is so realistic. Love the salt and pepper highlighting 😊
Lindsay...wow what a cool piece. I would never of thought of doing a crocodile, but now I can't wait to try. Your working of the eye was great, you gave it a real personality. My favorite part of painting an animal is watching it come alive by the expression in its eyes. You did a beautiful job!
I absolutely LOVED this!!!! I love alligators and am moving from CT to Florida very soon...i cant wait to paint this and i hope to see many gators down South too!! :)
Lindsay this is fantastic as usual and I really should say a big thank you for all of your videos you put out there. You really devote so much of your time to teaching us and I really have learned so much from you. Your tutorials are not only informative but such a pleasure to watch. Thank you again!
You never cease to amaze me. Halfway through I was thinking, "Ok, this doesn't look like a croc. How is she gonna get out of this pickle?" And I am amazed at how cool everything turned out after the pencil and pen. You're the best!
I photographed a crock almost just like this one, but the color was different. I have always wanted to paint it but didn't have an idea how, but now I can't wait to see what I can do 😁
This is awesome! I was lucky and was able to get the large tin also. Why people complained is beyond me. They're great travel storage for pens, pencils & brushes as well as paints.. even small sketchbooks. I like your gouache storage idea! Now I am wondering if Golden would just sell the tin by itself.. I could really use a couple more hehe! Have a wonderful day Lindsay 🙂
I really love the big, hinged QoR tins, I want one so bad! The small tins are great too, I find them very useful, but I really, really want one of the old ones... No idea how I'd go about getting one, but I'm holding out hope!
Lindsay I have a couple of tips for you I know you have much more experience than I do but I thought these tips might help you if you break off a lead of your colored pencils to the base of it you can take a drop of super glue and put it down in the spot where the lead broke put your leg back in let it dry use it as normal and it'll sharpen and everything without a problem. Also I wanted to give you a suggestion for a great pencil sharpener it's called the I point orbit and it comes in both a battery operated and electric powered model. It is carried on Amazon and is relatively inexpensive and it is a workhorse. Thanks for the wonderful tutorial I really enjoyed watching it and hope to do something similar in the near future. Thanks so much for all the wonderful tutorials and for all your hard work.
I love crocs, and this turned out great! Combining watercolor and color pencils is so much fun, too. I painted a possum last night and finished it with colored pencil, and while I was doing that, I decided that I really need some Prismacolors because I want something a little more opaque for mixed media. So I just ordered a set, less than an hour ago, after pushing aside all my concerns about them being overly fragile... And then I watched this video and saw your Prismacolor's lead just snap. 😲 Nooo! 😅
@@thefrugalcrafter My Prismacolors arrived today - They really are so soft, I can see why they would be more fragile than other pencils. It's like a crayon with a wooden casing around it. Totally perfect, exactly what I was hoping for. They actually remind me of the Derwent Drawing, except for that they come in way more colors and with horrible casing around them, lol, I laughed when I opened the package: They didn't manage to put even a single lead into the actual center, the glue job is horrendous and there are cracks everywhere that were simply painted over. It kind of looks like if someone tried making pencil crayons for a school project in wood works class. 😂 The leads feel so good though, I think I am just going to love working with them. I'll gladly accept a broken lead here and there for this softness.
I have to say I wanted to thank you for the recommendation for pencil extenders that was a great price for the amount you get. They are going to come in handy big time. I hate wasting anything if I can avoid it and I had some short ones that weren't usable now I can use them up lol.
The couple main things with crocs are their overlapping teeth (gators bottom jaw teeth go inside their mouth) the croc has a longer thinner snout with narrow end. This looks like a caiman in your painting.
i loved this i may buy the set ive made a very large collection of watercolors last year.your channel is my favorite i like the watercolor bottanicals the best ,i think you really shine with roses but they are my favorite subject and birds .happy 4th
QUESTION? Always a Wonderful outcome Lindsay! I have this set but I have not been able to come to anything close to yours!!! I switch mediums to too fast to get a grip, I think. I get frustrated and bored and move on. Patience is a virtue, sigh! I will take the challenge! We can use anything right to watercolor that can sort of behave like watercolor? Of all things, I do not own any OIL pastels and took advantage of the spoiler alert! $19.00, heck yes!!!!
This looks good! Since this is WW month, could you use different watercolors brands and/or palettes and tools throughout this challenge? I enjoyed seeing you use your new brushes and the GT watercolors.
I Second that one........and other mediums that behave like them too if that is alright, I think I will do that because that's what I do even though I have "water color paints" out the Kazooo!
And these are why I DO NOT swim in lakes!! Yes, they've been found in all of the big lakes and rivers in Georgia. I also don't because of water moccasins YIKES! And NO, I don't do the ocean either - unless I can see in it, like in the coves in the Bahamas! I'm more afraid of jelly fish than anything! Thanks for the idea to move the pans to a different container! I don't tend to use them because of the box. Ill need to find a box! Is there a prompt list for the month? TFS! :) Ps-- maybe I can convince myself to order the mijello set that I've wanted for years!
Yes, the prompt list is at doodlewash.com you might have a flat tin you can repurpose, just spray paint the inside with white glossy spray paint. We have nothing deadly in out lakes, it is the gift we get for putting up with 9 months of winter 😆
Thank you so much for the crocodile video, I have watched it multiple times since you posted it. I didn't know it was watercolor month either. I am going to try and do a watercolor painting in my new block/sketchbook every couple of days. I appreciate every video you do. ( Check out Rollin Wild channel on YT, the videos are about if animals were round, including a crocodile 🐊!)
Hi Lindsay! I’ve always wondered, how do you decide which colors to layer? And, do you make those decisions before you start painting or during? Thanks!
I always get nervous about where to place the white highlights. Especially without a reference. I finally got white pen and am still afraid to put highlights on my version of your tutorial of the Mylar balloons, from 2020!! haha
Sorry Lindsay, looks like a gator to me. Croc's don't have those emphasised nostrils, gators do? But I may be perfectly wrong, wouldn't be the first time 😉 Looks like great paper.
@@e-dubbses403 Thanks. I have the Qor mini half pans which is a great little palette set and I use one of their 6 tube sets with other random pans that I have but it would only fit a small number of Gansai pans
@@terrybanet3330 I actually bought the Paul Rubens student grade full pans set (blue palette) just to fit my 24 Gansai pans. It is only 24 dollars and the paints that come with the set are not bad (they are believed to be the exact same as the Sonnet watercolors).
