I grew up on Hot Wheels Turbo racing so main story layout wasn’t too bad for me personally. The online can get crazy if you meet the right random racers! You’ll be surprised how creative everyone gets with the tracks they make! Great racers and greatly made custom track changes the game. I can’t lie though, I thought the same thing after first getting it.

It would be nice if they added more maps and made them customizable as well as swappable wheels.

This was so helpful. I kept debating since the reviews have been so good, but this let me know I need to wait, at least until there's some GOTY type version with everything unlocked.

This is a well done video. Keep it up. I do agree with you on just about every point. My main issue personally is the season pass I can really only go up 2 or 3 levels a day before I tap out from the grinding. I just want maybe more challenges with actual variations 🤔

6 levels? There's plenty of tracks within each environment, and most tracks lead through different areas within that environment. Do open-world racing games have one level? This criticism just makes no sense to me. Everything else is more or less true, though the grind has been lessened recently. And the extremely fragmented DLC and season passes are just gross.

Its hotwheels? What are you customizing your hotwheels in real life? Lucky you can change the color at all

Did the ultimate stunt edition ever say “all future dlc to be included”? Also it’s not really 6 levels, as much as it’s 6 environments, with custom tracks in each. Agree with the loot box part though.

For me I just downloaded it, Playstation gave it to us for free, right and I go to the shop to check out bundles and see what this game has and holy crap there are so many things to buy maybe the most micro transactions I’ve seen in a game it’s insane there’s like 12 tabs and all of them have a crapload of things to buy it’s messed up when you know it’s marketed to kids.

This all sounds like a personal complaint about your experience than a review of the game itself. For the prices its going for at the moment, it's amazing.

I do wish this game was good, but foolishly buying the ultimate edition, I learned soon I placed too much faith that the developers understood at least the bare bones rubric for a Hot Wheels game, demonstrated in Hot Wheels TurboRacing and my personal favorite, Hot Wheels Velocity X. Loot Boxes have no place in a Hot Wheels game, monetized scheme or not, the lack of customization also really hurts the fun factor, salt in that wound is the livery editor as a whole is basically locked to online, ( other racing games offer this without a riddiclous online verification) and the fact certain tires are locked behind specific Loot Box variant vehicles, which could of added a nice needed customization option to the cars. The joy I expected to have with this game was ultimately killed however, by the terrible in game physics, it's frustrating to slide unnecessarily off course at most turns, "toy physics" or not, in addition, the disturbing lack of a in game stunt system in this entry deeps the loss of fun.

I don't think they are targeting adults but kids. Having said that, I do think that adult gamers have been spoiled by other games. I got it for less than $30 and thought that price was reasonable.

This game is definitely worth it ON SALE, it's perfect for a 30-40 dollar game with expansions included, but literally the only reason I'm still playing is just to unlock all the cars. After that I have no real reason to keep playing other than multi-player, which is fun for about 2 and a half races or until a map is chosen that takes 15 minutes to complete

Me too, I don't understand why SkillUp would recommend this game. It's half baked, boring, lacks in content. I don't understand, usually SkillUp doesn't recommend games that lacks content like this

the soundtrack is actually deeper than you say, the music cuts in and out, muffles when you’re looping, gets a echo effect when you’re on magnets and gets more intense when you’re winning. as for the loot box statement. i believe it’s completely fine as the only thing you’re unlocking is new cars that have slightly different stats. and there’s no option to spend real world money. on top of that, there’s also a rotating shop and special cars that you can only get through rewards in the campaign and this is a hotwheels game, the story doesn’t need to be anything more than “toy cars racing”

I bought it at full price yesterday and loved it for 44 glorious minutes. When I logged in today it was on 70% sale, so I refunded and got both Unleashed and the upgrade pack at 70% discount. That seems worth it to me but yea, at full price it is kinda steep.

first milestone game for u guys? LOL. ive been playing milestone games for years, sure they arent big, but they are just as trash as EA. In their dirtbike games (2 come out a year) they constantly copy and paste everything and have game breaking glitches that not only do they not fix, they dont even address it. this is by far the most polished game theyve ever made and put 100x the effort into this compared to their usual games. so if u think milestone is bad from this, check out their other games. hot garbage

The PS5 version is included with PS Plus. But I bought the PS4 GOTY edition which was on sale thinking it would automatically give the PS5 GOTY edition. Nope . So confusing

The only thing i don't agree with is loot boxes and enviroments. Is not as bad as you say. Not only are there no microtransactions, but also there is a shop (in which you forgot to mention), which is very useful if you already have most of the cars. Trust me, i already have every free car in the game thanks to the shop and boxes. Also, a map is kinda hard to make actually, so i don't blame them. But yeah. The game is already so expensive, and most of the best cars in the game are paid DLCs (ex: Superman). And most of the roster of cars are character cars. Not Acceleracers, not real life cars, no. Character cars that no one likes and nobody asked for. Also, the lack of gamemodes is kinda boring. The good thing is that Milestone listen to their community. especially on the official Discord. Even though i love this game, i kinda liked this review, but i felt it a little bit uncomplete.

I spent 3 hours watching reviews and everyone was hyping this up as being the greatest game in the past 15 years so I went in and bought the most expensive edition just to realise that I couldn’t access all the dlc cars and that they have more planed passes that I can’t get “not to mention buying them separately is horrendously overpriced” not to mention the boring campaign and the “special” cars that won’t let you race unless you have other specific cars unlocked, also the cars are horribly balanced to the point where only a few cars are usable… thank god Microsoft gave me the refund

Instead of putting so much time into paid DLC, Milestone need to fix the issues in the base game. They don't seem to care and it's frustrating

yeah you're right, this game it's just a cruel trick by the developers. i bought the switch version who doesn't have the crossplay either. and honestly the time attacks are frustrating while the race are a jokes... so i wonder what milestone have against the concept of "EASY MODE"??

Just found this channel I recently just bought it for under $20 and it’s worth just that I totally agree with everything you said fun game but it’s so plain it feels like a demo if I payed full price for this I’d be pissed all the dlc should be included for a $50 game my god and I’m not paying extra money just to drive in the dark lol

I just don't like the driving easy medium hard I see no difference same with the stats.

I'm STILL wondering where all the cars are.. And this game has turned into a fantasy car nightmare.. Mattel has the rights to all these real automobiles, yet they dish out fantasy car after fantasy car. I could go on and on about other things, but I've complained so much about this game with reviews, I don't feel like writing it all over again lol. Also, (worth bringing up), I can't believe we can't use gears or coins to upgrade individual stats.. I HATE the whole premade stats system they have going on.

you know i can't help but be upset by this game, part of me thinks im being stupid cause it's hot wheels, they're made for kids and so was this game, but then i look at all the things this game sells and it's alot of money. what kid would buy all this, how could they. im not gonna put the blame all on milestone but i believe someone over there is trying to scam kids.

It’s definitely your opinion bro. I enjoy the game a lot. It’s hot wheels bro, not forza. Idk bro, game passes are charged every year or season when it comes out. But I do think it’s bs that the ps4 version doesn’t come with the ps5 version. I think you make some valid points for sure. Thank you for your input, I still bought it, it takes advantage of nostalgia too, I have always dreamed of playing with my hot wheels like this.

This is the most nitpicking condensed into 5 minutes that I've ever seen. First off, don't ever pay full price for a milestone game, that's on you. The only valid point he made was about the limited amount of music. Meanwhile the 6 "levels" are now 8 and feature 57 different tracks. As he complains about them all feeling the same and no car customization, I can only assume he is unaware of the hotwheels brand that's been selling the same cars and orange tracks for longer than his lifespan. It's this little thing called brand identity, thus the same track pieces being used every time rather than another generic road like in every other racing game, which this is not. This isn't a serious racing game no matter how hard you try to make it, it's a brand licensed arcade racer. Stop expecting forza and it's a fun game that achieves what it's set out to do. And stop misleading with the loot boxes. Yes they're in the game, but don't act like it's a normal loot box. They're free, you can't pay to win the most expensive best performaning cars in the game like with normal loot boxes, and it literally takes one race to open a box. Looking at his channel it seems all he does is bag on games, but the least he could do is get the facts right. If it's as bad as you think, you shouldn't have to mislead people or give them half truths to prove your point.
