They are trash because they traded for Porzingis his rookie year. Since then it was bad decision after bad decision and they have no more players or draft capital work it.
@@Ashamed.Loser69 Why are you trying to take away from an amazing accomplishment? I get where you’re coming from, but there is no point in diminishing his accomplishment. Also, if you’re saying that to make a point that old players were better, I don’t remember anyone dropping 70 on them back then.
Man,the guy is only 24 years old and is already a Legend. He eventually will win a Ring (and more). Jordan won is 1st Ring at 28,Bird at 27, LeBron at 26... And all of them before Winning their 1st Ring didin't had the Numbers that Luka is putting since he was 19 years old. The sheer Potential of this Man is like "One in a million". He's gonna finish his career as One of the Greatest Players in the History of the Game.
mike's numbers were way better than luka's in his first few years and he also made it to the playoffs alone in the era of incredible eastern conference teams. luke is a defensive liability and by that definition can't ever be a top ten player. he's worse than melo on defense.
@@JakeSkillman like i Said is only 24. Jordan won is 1st Ring "only" at 28. Luka is already above average, and have many years to improve, and he will because is a Natural Talent. One of a kind.
Not trying to belittle Luka...... I watched that game. It's honestly unwatchable. 90% of Luka's shots were not even contested. There's also zero inside defense.
One thing I notice about Luka is that he seems to make other players look slow because they are so uncertain about what Luka is going to do that they are afraid to make a move themselves. So they end up looking like they're standing around doing nothing while he just walks up the basket and puts the ball in.
I love how Luka always wants to talk about his defense! 40 points and 15 assists is just a normal day at the job. Everyone expects it and he expects it of himself. But when he gets blocks and steals he is so proud of it. Because we can see him improving at something that doesnt come as natural to him I assume. Hes going for the quintuple double next season.
1:55 Yeah it would be crazy to put Luka at 3 imo. I’m assuming you’re talking all-time scorers throughout a career rather than at their peak. Luka’s gonna have to do what he’s doing now for the rest of the decade before he can be considered for that top tier of offensive juggernauts. His elite playmaking ability also puts him at a natural disadvantage, in the same way it has for LeBron all these years. However, his playstyle is clearly going to age very well, and with the way offence continues to climb in the NBA, I wouldn’t be surprised if Luka finishes his career right alongside those all-time greatest scorers.
The point was he’s already third in avg. only his 6th season. It rarely goes down a lot after a certain length of time due to the math. It will likely get higher before it’s gets lower. I’d expect him to finish with the 2nd highest Ppg ever after Wilt.
@@iamchaunceman Wilt is actually second in career ppg with (30.07) and Jordan is first with 30.12. Luka is at 28 and while the number will likely go up I think it will be hard to reach 30. He will have to have quite a few more years averaging at least 32, 33 to compensate for his rookie year when he averaged "only" 21. Wilt and MJ had monster numbers as rookies (MJ 28 and Wilt 37), but they were also 3-4 years older than Luka was. With that said I hope Luka gets to 30 even if only for a few years ( numbers go down again usually when you get older).
I've seen a lot of Luka in Madrid and he reminds me a lot of old school brazilian football / soccer players. They came to Spain to play in a setting with much strict defense, where they got struck much harder. What they did is play like they did in the streets, with a big smile on their faces and pulling all the sht they felt like because, it was just a game and they had so much fun they danced like children after scoring. That's Luka. If anyone is courious talking bout Luiz Pereira, Leivinha, Garrincha, Djalminha, Romario, Bebeto, Ronaldinho Gaucho... They were different.
It's insane how good Luka is, crazy that a lot of the time when he has the ball in half court he looks like he's moving in slow motion and still can't be stopped! So fun to watch
As a life long mavs fan I must admit I take Luka for granted. We all do, and if you hate on him it’s usually ignorance but damn do we expect a lot from a 24 yr old white dude. The mavs really don’t deserve him, Cuban has been terrible at putting a decent roster around him. After Luka and kai this roster is the worst in the nba.
@@lawrencedanao7648 well every rule has an exception and that's hard to rely on. And you can tell by the media pulse that wont be the case wth Luka since he's not gettng enough buzz unfortunately.
He's the best offensive player in the NBA atm and has been for a while. I consider Jokic and Embiid to be better OVERALL players, but they do not have the offensive firepower that he does. If the mavs around him weren't awful he would have an MVP award already.
But whats crazy is the lack of help around him is exactly why he deserves MVP. Most Valuable. Without Luka, Mavs are barely a playoff team. Now that they have Gafford and PJ I think they will be solid contenders.
Releases a Luca video mere hours before he drops 73. That would piss me off so much to put in all that work on a video and not get to add the best part. 😢
I am 55 and i can say that I watched a few like Luka. #1 Larry Bird #2 Kobe Bryant and of course Mike Jordan! Luka loves the game and not the stardom that a lot of NBA players get lost in. What Lebron James explained in this video talking about Luka was him basically braking down Larry Legends game 2.0. Not taking anything away from Luka at all.. Larry Bird had a tougher defense to deal with but his team mates made that easy. Luka is amazing! If you listen to older legends in the NBA they will tell you that Larry Bird was not fast. Luka is not fast. They will tell you that Larry Bird could not jump compared to other players. Luka does not have hops either. They will tell you that Larry Bird was the smartest player on the court and then there comes Luka. I really think we are seeing Larry Bird all over again and I did not think I would ever see a player like him.
REALLY NICE VID!! Lots of great info and comparisons. Great work!! And what a great player, your work makes that all the more apparent. Thanks!! He’s been so refreshing for the nba. Never heard so many of the most talented coaches and players speak so highly of one player. On top of that he’s flashes that big smile and makes everybody else smile.
Doncic body angle is different on ft's - lower body is constraining the trajectory - he needs to hop slightly to finish his motion to get the right trajectory - a slight lean back on release is where he needs to get
best player in the world, i've been saying it since the world cup last summer. but he's even upgraded since then, his team upgraded and hopefully the haters see how great what he is doing is, he might get his first title in the next year or two ;) mvps will come after that, too
This year he seems to be SLOWING DOWN his game, he is way more controlled, using his BODY & THICKNESS far-more effectively/efficiently. In previous years, he'd often try and make things happen via speed or quickness, but that just isn't his STRENGTH. He is getting really good at protecting the ball with his back & hips, and slowly but surely acquiring the spot-on-the-court he wants. It's kind of amazing smaller & super quick guards can't get the ball from him.
16:55 while this move is very clever; it ain't legal. Luka should have been called for Up-and-Down. Although there remains the possibility that Luka didn't leave the ground, he just stood up onto his tiptoes. If that's the case, it makes that move all the more impressive
With Luka's 73 points he just raised his career average from 28.2 to 28.3 --- he just needs to score 73 about 20 more times in a row and he'll pass Jordan.
And Wilt could have had much more but he chose to stop scoring and start assisting instead, and lead the league in assists as a center. All because people said he was scoring too much and wasn’t a team player. Then people started saying he couldn’t score anymore, so he hit like 60 or 70 points a few games in a row, just to shut people up. Legend. Wilt was the greatest.
Yes, even a bit more. Would be like 42/43. Imagine Jordan incorporating 3 ball imto his game. Its crazy to think about it. Excellence in both defense & offence while playing almost full season for close the entirety of his career. The gap gets wider not closer.
Man plays in Europe before he came here. The way he scores is to create space and finish with contact or double down and score on you on the drive when you guard his midrange.
I hope Luka doesn't lose his fire with these Mavs... that team is not working, and Kyrie barely plays at all... Luka is literally carring... I do like Lively, and Jones Jr is an hell of an athlete, Hardaway has his ups and downs I guess (but isn't he going away? Idk)... but what do I know, I'm a new basketball fan..
There's a good reason as to why people forget Harden's days in Houston. It was not authentic scoring. I've never seen the league help one player out more in the regular season than James Harden.
Its very easy, the pace of play is much higher today, meaning there are a lot more possessions per game. Scoring 70 today is like scoring 55 in the 90s and like scoring 50 in the 00s.
Alright, people are talking about how quickly Luka got the most 35 point games in Mavs history but Dirk came at a time when the league was historically at its slowest pace and the game was played vastly differently back then. It is a noteworthy accomplishment but let us not pretend like Luka would have gotten there that quickly in Dirk's era.
Imagine how much better he would be if the referees weren't bias against him, it's hard to believe his numbers would get any better than they are, but they definitely would. I can't tell you, honestly, how many blown calls there are against him. The referees single him out
The Suns game on Christmas, Luka joined Anthony Davis as the only two players in NBA history to have a game where they recorded at least 50 Points, at least 4 Steals, and at least 3 Blocks. And in the same game Luka also joined James Harden as the only two players in NBA history to have at least 50 points and at least 15 Assists. And in the same game Luka became the fastest player to reach 10,000 Points since Michael Jordan. Luka is also the only player in NBA history to have two games that rank in the top 10 all time in the gamescore stat. His 73 point game ranks 2nd all time behind MJs 69 point game, but Jordan's game went into OT, so Luka's gamescore of 64.0 is the highest in NBA history for a regulation game.
MJ went against hand check and had true centers and PF watching the paint and a rule set that let you play defense with physicality ... OT... I think we can say MJ had a little tougher.
Its a bit too early for sure. Luka is on the level of Keith van Horn and Antoine Rigaudeau historically right now. If he gets a championship, he'll get to Rick Fox level soon
I can’t stand them pointless records talm bout “first player in nba history to have 20 points, 1 Rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 Block, 1/1 in FT, 1 TO, 1 min on the bench, 1 halftime speech, 1 drink of water” Like cmon mannnn 🤣🤣😂😂💀
