Wayne here again thanks to your video, I found the drain plug cleared with a jet washer I then refilled the whole lot with water and all water drained away. You are a top man. No where else mentioned this on RU-vid that I could find.
Thank you so much the rear of my car behind drivers seat and drivers foot well was full of so much water. I checked the main drainage and all was good but today I stripped the front end down and under the brake servo full of water. I didn’t know there was another drain of point. Thank you so much I will clear out mine tomorrow. Your a star.
Great video, ive got a 2013 bmw 1series with similar problems, on my one the water is so full past the brake servo!! Your video was the only one on here giving concrete info. Thanks I've got to go and clear it now lol!
Thanks for posting, really helped me track down my leak under and inside the ECU box, lots of water leaking through the cooling blower in straight into the cabin. Had a regular pond forming in the back seat floor since I was parking it uphill.
Have same issue think it’s ECU box side. Sorted other side . Went to wheel arch and water did flow out thru arch. Still got passenger’s side rear footwell damp. Not sure how’s it’s getting in as drain must be clear Wonder if it’s thru firewall on ECU box side?
Freaky. My idrive stopped working last week after Wasing the car but we have also had a heatwave here in Sydney, so I put it down to overheated ccc unit. Bought a new one and fitted after searching youtube for answers. Your video just tonight came up as a suggested video to watch so I did. Went down to garage and removed the filters etc and found the brake booster side full of leaves and some water still remaining. Drain pipe was partially blocked too so tomorrow morning I'll vacuum out the crud and leaves and blow out the drain tubes. Thanks for posting this mate 🍻
Thanks for this vid, was a handy reference for me doing a similar job. I've been having trouble with dampness behind the drivers seat of my 2006/E63 recently and reading online it seems there's a bunch of potential reasons but blocked drains under micro-filter are a common one. That drain under the servo was totally blocked with crud, but it's draining freely now so hoping that sorts the wet carpets!
I had the same issue on my E63 630i Sport.. o/s wing drain was blocked full of mulch, and there was 2” of water swilling around beneath the brake master cylinder!! Managed to find the rubber bung, pulled that and blasted both drains clear of crap.. Water and electrics do not mix!
The drain plug is just behind the wheel arch plastics they get solid with muc only 4 grommit screws to get to it then just pull it out and get rid of the drain plug not necessary anyway then you'll all have no more drainage issues.
From what you are saying i am going through the same, also check and it was full of water, i managed to clean the drain, but now i would like to know if you managed to sort it out the idrive issues? After draining i tried again yet keeps on giving me the sames issues about 5 min after starting the car, the screen starts going on and off, and the faults start showing, abs, transmission yet dont know if its because its still wet and should wait more time to dry out? Let me know if you sort it out pleaseeee.
I'm having intermittent issues with my idrive at the moment. 56 plate 525d. I've noticed that the middle plastic cover isnt even attached so hopefully this will fix the issue. Will post updates
did this solve your Idrive problem. Have the exact same problem, - Idrive, speedo,revs, warning lights going off and on randomly but checked under the filters and it's dry. Still looking for solution
It's very very difficult without taking out the dash I think. I tried, but if you take the electronics out (lots and lots of connectors!) of the box there's a float drain in the bottom under the blower with a float ball to prevent water coming in and allow water going out. Mine was stuck and the water was so deep it was pouring out through the cooling blower into the cabin up behind the glove box, and pooling in the back floor. There is a rubber drain (like on the other side) underneath that barely visible from the front gap between the box / chassis. I got access from under by removing the wheel well corner, bending the liner out of the way (lots of screws) and reaching up under and removing it. Mine was warped and clogging but a good one could be cleaned I'm sure. Blew out the ball valve with compressed air, and all is well, so far anyway. Ordered a new blower to replace the rusty waterlogged one.
Took me a minute to realize that in the US these components are on opposite sides vs right hand drive cars in the UK. Mu issue is on the passenger side.
@@leroylaush4699 having same issue I got mechanic to take off wheels liner and we could find drain. He poured water and it came thru but still not obvious where exactly. Not sure why but my rear passenger carpet is still damp when it rains. I really need to get rid of that drain plug. But there wasn’t one looking up from wheel arch maybe it just was hole and future up was plug. Other side is fixed but passenger side is still wet. I park downhill now but still comes thru. Any ideas ?
cant see this affecting the idrive, as the idrive is a concealed unit within the dash itself, its not on the floor. Maybe amp gone causing sound to go? as amp is under seats on some cars.
