@12:54 I love that that's exactly the same beep as the decade old leaf makes when a cable gets plugged in. If it ain't broke don't fix it

Ha. So it is! I'm sitting in my 2011 Leaf typing this. Didn't spot that before. I had a 2018 Leaf and can't remember if it made the same noise but it probably did. (Got this one cheap whilst evaluating next longer range EV. Test drove an Ariya and it is very nice except the haptic controls.)

Excellent info. Pay attention to the available power. At the extreme, 40km or 25 miles beyond 0 km, if you keep speed limited to 30-35 km/h, or, 20 mph. Would never want to be in that position, but, very valuable. Add the 5.1 kWh to the 80 kWh you measured. Close to claimed 87 kWh useable. Thx, Bjorn! Time for wifey and baby.

The Ariya did about as much as you could have asked for (short of creating energy from a vacuum). I had decided against the Ariya given the poor efficiency at high highway speed, but this kind of predictable safety at the bottom of the pack changed my mind. Well done Nissan!!!

On my 30kWh Leaf the heater works till the end, I actually tried where the Leaf says NO MORE, parked in the garage emptying the last 1kWh (leafspy) with the heater/heatpump and it went down to 0,3kWh when it disconnected the EV battery. Tried it at 4 years and about 55k km

Classic Buffer Overflow: The distance can only be 0 - 1024 km, so -1 km is 1023 km.
@Narcissist86
@Narcissist86 Год назад
Technically this is an integer or arithmetic overflow, where you perform some arithmetic past the limits of the variable and the value wraps around. Buffer overflow refers to something written outside of the memory allocated to the buffer. This may or may not be the case here since integer overflow can occur without buffer overflow.

Why are they installing the charge port on the passenger side (when the driver is on left side)? Will Nissan put on the driver side in 2025 when they migrate to the NACS? Resistance is futile - The Borg 😮

the ariya is a much nicer quality and riding car. With tesla you get more range and acceleration but poorer quality. With nissan you give up that range but in return the materials you touch are much much nicer, and you could option it with ventilated seats, opening sunroof, etc

Nice demo but we all know that an EV will run a bit beyond 0% on the dashboard and the question is really how far. That said it should be quite easy to figure out using an OBD dongle. That will tell you what the actual SOC is vs what the dashboard says. And then the real question is whether the 87kWh usually charge is the charge to get you to the real 0% as per OBD or whether it is for 0% per dashboard. I suspect the former, and that 4kWh is simply never accessible to protect the battery in any circumstances.
@bjornnyland
@bjornnyland Год назад
No, not all EVs can go past 0 %. Some cars even stop with 1 km indicated range left.
@ManfredvonHolstein
@ManfredvonHolstein Год назад
@@bjornnyland , OK but my point is that it is easy to check that with an OBD scanner. It will tell you whether the dashboard shows the real SOC percentage at which the car operates or some faked figure. Therefore you would also know how far you can still go if the figure was fake. No need for testing this (and chickening out at the end).
@bjornnyland
@bjornnyland Год назад
Not easy yet since LeafSpy doesn't support Ariya. And even if I used CarScanner or something else, as the tests here shows, the claimed kWh left is not always correct.
@raptorpome2577
@raptorpome2577 Год назад
@@ManfredvonHolstein you can have a big difference between in theory stuff and in practice .... At the end of the day I want to know what will actually happen that's why I like how Bjorn tests cars
@ManfredvonHolstein
@ManfredvonHolstein Год назад
@@raptorpome2577 An OBD scanner tells you exactly what you want to know when it comes to how much battery charge there is actually left. And also tells you many other interesting things, like how cold the battery is, at which temperature it is being heated or cooled etc. Just get one and you will see. Doesn’t cost much.
@eddieyutub
@eddieyutub Год назад
Wouldn't it be nice if you can charge the car while driving from the inside? That should have been made as a stander protocol for someone who just want to drive far without charging by buying extra batteries inside the car and plug it inside?!

Hey anyone! I have 40 kWh Leaf 2022 and it is perfect size car for my needs. What I miss is CCS charging, 22 kWh charging (instead of 6 kWh) and a little bit more of battery capacity, around 60-80 kWh. What are my choices if Ariya is too big and I also don't want any smaller car? Thanks!
@Cosmycal
