Tom, you've turned out to be really good at this video malarky. You have a nice balance of detail and progress, cutting away and jumping ahead which is so much easier to follow than the endless minutes of one operation. It was a given that you'd be very good at building stuff, because you're a farmer, so you do anything and everything, but you do it amazingly well.
3,000 years from now, when the shed has long been reduced to dust, Tom's Super-Pit will still be as strong as ever. The AI Archeologists will be well chuffed.
Looks fantastic Tom! This is like a bunker build, it will be so strong and if you ever let this go to someone else, they will never be able to tear this down 😋 Can't wait for part 4! ❤
If you get flooded Tom you are going to need very long arms to be able open that tap without getting very wet. No doubt you have already thought of that.
Like it our Tom . The jobs a good un. Not too sure of the tap drainage . Every big pit I've been in has a small sump a grill and pump. But top job squire. Can't wait to see lights and air lines etc 👍👍👍😎
Pit looks great! Those mobile concrete batch plants are brilliant. I live in Australia and getting fresh mixture at the delivery point is a huge advantage. You get the exact desired slump and a lot more working time in hot climates.
You have done a great job Tom you always get a some spillage when doing jobs like that but it’s coming away nicely and I see Colin popping in to make sure you’re doing a proper job it’s going to look really smart all painted up 👏👏👍👍
I'd be tempted to get a big pond liner and deliberately fill it with water from your bore hole in summer for a very narrow pool. Charge the local kids a quid a dip during heatwaves.
I love the way everything is made from the bricks, even the stairs. Makes it more rugged. And how the Angle frames are tied into the concrete. Very well done!. I had an inspection pit at my old workshop, that had two flatbars with spacers welded to the inside of the angle iron frames and I had an oil sump that slid on those rails. Kinda like a small railway. Made oil changes really fun! It held about 100 liters, so most of the fluids from the tractors would fit into that sump trolley. I had the angles the other way around. But I reckon you could pretty much build a frame with four wheels and make a sump track on the angles. Also, another good idea is a trolley jack that rides on those rails. Again, great work you did Tom. And I got some new ideas to myself aswell. Cheers mate!
Being of a mature age now I more than appreciate the idea of not having to get down on the ground and wriggle about under machinery. I'm also never sure if the access under things is getting smaller or my belly is getting bigger.
Once had a lend of a pit free only issue there was a fork lift parked 3" from the edge i was given the keys never driven a fork lift before and all the legends were worn off the controls.
That’s not a mess Tom. Let it dry a bit then take a hard brush to it and the cement will just fall off. I know I gave you a bit of stick last time for your trowel work but I have to as you’ve done a brilliant job of it and you’re so lucky being able to drain through the wall. Will you be spray painting the walls? It makes painting block a hell of a lot easier. Looking forward to seeing the next part mate
That’s a very nice inspection build pit 0:02 - whatever one of those is Tom? 😂 Nice job if a bit messy at the end. Might have been easier to weld the top frame together over the top of the pit, save you having to lift it into position then.
Boy that was bloody wet concrete, lucky it didn’t get under that angle iron and lift it up 😳. Looking like is gong to be a fantastic asset for the workshop way better for working on equipment. Not a cheap investment though
Was I the only one that picked up when Tom said welcome back to the inspection build pit instead of inspection pit build 😂 that should have made the bloopers section Tom
