I definitely wouldn't call doing a 970kg total on a short prep after 2years out of strength training, while sick, a failure. I dont know if anyone else in the world could replicate that and it truly shows the raw potential again
@highviewbarbell
@highviewbarbell Год назад
Yeah, he cut 60kg and "only" totals 970 and he's disappointed Thor's a different kind
@Nirsterkur
@Nirsterkur Год назад
Well said. For Hafthor to reach 88% of his prime total after a 30 month heavy lifting hiatus, with such a lean frame, with only a 6 week prep on top of being not fully recovered from the sickness (including the unfortunate 5 kg bodyweight loss) is not a failure but a MINDBLOWING achievement! As you said, nobody else could have totaled 970 under all above circumstances.
@drschwandi3687
@drschwandi3687 Год назад
Saying he failed is probably motivating to him. He did made the goal of 1000 kg he did not hit so he failed. Of course it was a big goal and not that likely he would hit it. But he still failed to achieve it.

Dude you came in 5kg short of the day before. Plus you're just coming back into the sport and you still pulled a 970! Thor, you’re an inspiration to all - especially us tall guys (I’m 6’6) - with the squat, bench and definitely the deadlift! It’s because of you that I scrapped my fear of trying the perform the deadlift. It’s one of my favorite lifts now and I’m getting better and better at it. Keep pushing the limits and showing the world what the human mind and body are capable of. Well done!!!!!

@MCFCTheMadHatter
@MCFCTheMadHatter Год назад
@@luisestrada2732 100%. I’ve shied away from deadlift bc I’m tall and it feel awkward and was trepidatious about potential injury, but that was the past lol. I’ve overcome that and I’ve been so focused on form, building a solid base with low weights and now steadily increasing. Trust me, I have no problem checking my ego at the door (as hard as it can be sometimes), I always put form over ego and weight and that has been the case with deadlifts. But now that my form is solid and I’m comfortable with it along with a big base, I’m starting to move up in weight. Solid point on doubles and triples. I’m moving up slow and steady 👍
