I feel like maybe I didn't explain myself in the video. From the messages and comments I'm getting. I know it snot a breakup song! I know its about how macs death affected her relationship with Pete. She knew this and was sorry to both of them. I fully understand the song

this song is way deeper than just being a “breakup song”

She sampled Mac’s song 2009 on this track too. So heartbreaking. RIP Angel. She didn’t want to put it out but her manager “made her”. She had another song for the album that she chose not to release called reMeMber about mac and asks fans to please not leak it or listen to it if they see it leaked.

It’s not about “just getting over her ex” it’s the fact that her ex died as she just got into the relationship with someone else. and she can’t stop thinking about him and his death and it’s taking a weight on her relationship.

This song was a tribute to Mac, and also a "thank you" to Pete for his love and support throughout that difficult time. Of course Mac's death was a huge weight on Ariana, and it put hers and Pete's relationship to the test, and it just didn't work out in the end. Ariana was still close friends with Mac when he passed away, and they always loved each other, so it was very hard on her. Ariana was receiving death threats at the time because Mac's fans blamed her. Ariana said she quite literally had to busy herself with her music to stay sane, and going on tour was the only thing that saved her in that really difficult time.

Mac died shortly after him and Arianna broke up she only broke up w him bc of his addiction n he couldn't do it w out her n od'd while she was w pete n she had regrets
