When Steve came to the studio, we KNEW he was going to be one of our favorite interviewees! Show Steve some love in the comments below.
Steve Morin shares his conversion story to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He talks about being mostly agnostic growing up and wondering why anyone would believe in any organized religion. Two missionaries asked him to abide by some guidelines in his study, to which Steve agreed and was certain he knew the outcome of the studies. He did the homework provided and continued to meet with the missionaries. Watch the episode to find out what happened next! Let us know what you learned from Steve in the comments!!
Thanks for joining us, Steve! We're so grateful for your strength and dedication to your faith.

Great missionaries! I did something similar as a missionary. I would give those I was teaching their own teaching record to fill out as they completed the lessons and challenges. So great! Thank you for your testimony sir!

I love this man's conversion story and his willingness to be taught something that seemed so foreign and out of touch to him. I felt the Spirit each time he choked up and I even cried with him. I'm so grateful for people's stories of conversion. These help me know that what I am striving for is real and I'm not alone. God bless this sweet brother.

Love this video! My mother joined the church in Quebec, roughly a decade earlier. There are some similarities in their conversion stories - the idea of unbaptized infants going to hell was pretty fundamental in Catholic upbringing. One nice thing, though, is the faithful records of "baptêmes, mariages, décès" etc. kept by parishes makes it much easier for French Canadians to trace their ancestry. In today's Québec there is still a lot of controversy of the role of religion in society but I cherish the Christian faith of the many settlers who came to North America, acting in faith. Also Quebec City is definitely a fun visit 😊

QUESTION: If a member that was sealed in the temple, removed their name from the records of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but they still: - Accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ - Attend church every Sunday - Partake of the sacrament - Participate in Sunday school - Uphold to the covenants made - Live a life of righteousness Based on LDS Theology will they still inherit the Celestrial Kingdom?
@brettmajeske3525
@brettmajeske3525 Год назад
That would be between them and God. LDS Theology is that we do not judge, Christ does. My question is why someone doing all of those things would ask to have their name removed?
@seekingtruthinallthings3969
God loves all people. This person is trying to find Jesus in anyway she or he knows how. At least I am assuming the intentions are pure. This person will go to Heaven if he or she wants to go to Heaven. He or she will go where he or she feels most comfortable. And this person will continue to learn as much as he or she wants to learn. It really depends on the desires of this persons heart and what it leads this person to do. It is as simple as that.
@niroms8199
@niroms8199 Год назад
I do not know. I think it would be between that person and God who would judge the intent and actions of some ones situation. My question would be , why remove your name if you uphold all of the above ?
@seekingtruthinallthings3969
@@brettmajeske3525 It really has to do with the intent of ones heart? We, as LDS believe most will be saved to Heaven, but what that Heaven looks like is kind of up to where you want to be headed, agreed?
@seekingtruthinallthings3969
for example, Evangelical christians believe Heaven is a place where they will worship God and be happy and of course they will have that. But they dont believe in eternal families so they are not working towards that. Correct me if you think I am wrong.

@niroms8199
@niroms8199 Год назад
Everyone is different i guess. For me it was the perfect thing to say that very first meeting. I am curious... why would you have been offended by that ? I see no reason for the offence.
@democraticpatriot2657
@democraticpatriot2657 Год назад
@@niroms8199 If it was clear they were going for the kill in six weeks, I would have been turned off. It's like a salesperson who says if you don't buy now, the special deal expires in one hour. That's no way to reach out to a person considering a major life decision like conversion. It's been my observation that mission presidents often pressure the missionaries to bag high baptism numbers.
@niroms8199
@niroms8199 Год назад
@@democraticpatriot2657 Not at all for me... and having served a mission myself, not my experience with my mission President. I loved the fact that they made it clear they would leave me alone once our time was up. Nothing sales person about them, they may have been bold in one sense yet humble at the same time. They were very patient with me as i say in the video they had a lot of questions to answer and concerns to resolve. The goal for any missionary is to bring souls to Christ. For my personality... it was a perfect fit. The fact was clear... they had a message to share... i was to figure out if it was a true message and an open invitation to join if i find this to be true. It was a great experience to live through. The purpose of the Book of Mormon is to convince both Jew and Gentil that Jesus is the Christ. For me i am positive, nothing else would have done for me. We all have our own paths to take and i hope you are well in yours. God speed.

Would the strategies-prayer and subsequent “gut feelings,” as he put it-used to determine the truth or falsity of the plan of salvation, Book of Mormon, existence of god, etc. be useful in determining the truth or falsity of more secular claims, such as whether or not you can safely eat a mushroom you find in the woods or whether or not it’s safe to start crossing a busy street?

I feel the need to correct something that was stated early in the video. If you ask any Christian which church they should be following, they will tell you to follow Jesus. Christ’s church is made up of the body of believers rather than a single denomination. Most Christians have attended churches across different denominations and we all see each other as brothers in Christ. So, if anyone tells you that their denomination is the one true church, that should raise red flags. That’s taking the focus off Jesus and making an idol out of a church organization.
@niroms8199
@niroms8199 Год назад
Well, it has been my experience in meeting with some pastors , that some believe all you need to do to be saved is verbally confess to Jesus... I have asked some when did they come to Jesus and they have all stated the time when they confessed... then i asked them about their baptism.. some have said it is not needed and some said about 3 yrs later.. I then asked what would have happened between the confession and their baptism had they died before baptism ? They stated as evidence the thief on the cross was told by Jesus "Today, thou shall be with me in paradise"... as proof baptism is not required... wow.... they ignore the very words of Jesus Christ himself ! who stated that baptism is required. I remind them, when Mary came to give Jesus a hug the morning of His Resurrection.. He forbade her as he had not yet gone to his Father who is in Heaven. Paradise is not where God lives... it is not Heaven, but a waiting place for souls. The plan of Salvation explains this in more detail. A real church will have the information correct to guide people to Christ and not miss lead them into wrong directions. I believe this church is directed by Jesus Christ himself. This is his church. I always wonder how people are going to answer Jesus after they have passed on why they would put aside the very words of Jesus himself. Jesus Christ himself chose people to lead and direct them in the right way... the need is even more needed in todays time as they have all gone astray from the original directions of the Savior himself. God speed.
