Austin went to college for musical theater and worked hard to get rid of his accent and twang. He also used to sing with The Voices of Liberty at Disney World and was a featured performer in cruise ship productions. When he joined Home Free they asked him to bring back the twang he had worked so hard to get rid of. He can now turn it on and off at will.
Oklahoma City University. I lived there for years. Wonderful school for the performing arts. I would love to do a zoom call with him and Amberly later this year. So much to talk about. Amberly is from Chattanooga, I believe he said in a video shout out.
I am a Southerner by preference & forty years of living .... his accent may not please the stiff & stupid in these days of assigning blame BUT, His Accent is just fine - his high tenor voice is his blessing, his Tifton, Georgia upbringing his measure and NO ROAM WILL CHANGE YOUR HOME ..... enunciation for lyrical effect being an exception. All in Home Free are excellent singers - Austin is well suite for his career path. GBjj

You cannot pin Austin down to one genre or one voice. He is a chameleon. He can sing anything. He can be serious, funny, sincere and loving. I had the privilege of seeing him and Tim at a Backyard Bash. I got to meet his lady Amberly and was standing next to her when he sang Stargazer Lilies which he wrote for her. The look of love he gave her while he was singing was amazing. He puts his heart and soul into everything he does. Everything on his channel is wonderful. I join in recommending Tears in Heaven (bring tissues) but I also especially suggest Unchained Melody and Danny Boy. Welcome to the Austin Brown rabbit hole.

That was a very beautiful rendition. This is from the musical Les Miserables. "Bring Him Home" is a very hard song to sing but Austin nailed it. He has a great voice for musical theatre songs.
I haven't experienced Les Mis because I don't want to watch the movie version as I've head to doesn't come close to doing the original justice, if all the songs are like this I can't wait to see it live!!
All of the men of Home Free have amazing individual talents ... Austin could be on Broadway ... such a perfect voice for musical theater ! He knows how showcase a song ... so beautiful !
They were not down a member at the time, but they did hear Austin sing this song and were blown away. Austin joined later on after Matt left. Check out some of the Home Free History videos on YT there are about 7 of them (Matt is in some of them) and they are quite informational.

The amazing piano player and occasional producer/arranger is Sebastien Douyon - You'll see him a fair bit with Austin and occasionally when Austin and Tim do stuff (like My Maria which is amazballs)
Sebastian is such a sweet person as well as a gifted accompianist. I love these little private concerts in Austin's home. I love his It's a Wonderful World because of the photobombing that happens unexpectedly and doesnt faze these musicians at all.
This is the only version of this song that makes me cry every single time. Austin's amazing. And he seems like such a GENUINELY good person. It's...refreshing.
This is truly a fantastic piece...he worked hard for some years to lose his accent until Home Free were guest performers on his cruise ship. They said join us and keep your accent! Another great solo by him is Unchained Melody...it was my introduction to Home Free and it's still a fave. For a slightly built Man, he has incredible breath capacity and control.
"Bring Him Home" is my favorite of Austin's solos. Additional favorite Austin solos: "Tears in Heaver", "Unchained Melody" (Home Free has also done a cover of this one, but Austin's was released at least a year earlier), "Danny Boy", "Georgia on My Mind", and "I'm Not Supposed To Love You Any More." There are several more, but these are the ones I keep going back to.

The incredible pianist is Sebastien Douyon, who is also an amazing arranger and producer. To hear what Sebi can do working with Austin, check out the songs sent to them as demos from a (slightly mysterious) songwriter ResurrecSis Music, but in particular the song Empty House. The writer herself admits to being stunned by what they created, a big raw biting blues, with full accompaniment, not just a piano. It's possibly the best thing Austin has ever done, and all for a relatively small fee. Another of the songs is pure Broadway and Austin produces the neutral accent to match, even better than he does on BHH. It's very useful to watch someone else see this for the first time, who is prepared to show his feelings, as it helps us remember how we felt when we first saw it, so thank you for that. Austin has one of the best tenor voices in any genre and is also a prolific and respected songwriter - he contributed half of the latest HF album. He also juggles eggs and is a brilliant mimic and inventor of voices. On TikTok you can hear how he turns his dog into an elderly French aristocrat and produces a terrifyingly exact but foul-mouthed Micky Mouse. The tiny bit of rasp that you can hear in this was the last trace of a terrible problem Austin had with his voice. I think he made this recording a goal to be reached in his recovery, as it's not an easy song at all.

Austin was trained in Musical Theater in college. He did this on tour way back in 2014/2015. His voice is much stronger than back then. Home Fries are an amazing group of people. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to Austin and this song.

Austin's voice lives up in the atmosphere, doesn't it? Not to mention his phrasing is impeccable. I think he is a very technical singer, very deliberate in his interpretations, but he makes it sound easy and effortless. It's not. Aside: I think he would make a great Jesus for Jesus Christ Superstar. I just know he'd nail Ted Neely's vocals and then some, plus he looks the part, too. If you have never seen the film adaptation of Les Miserables (stars Hugh Jackson, Anne Hathaway Russell Crow) you need to block out a couple of hours and watch it. All the stars did their own singing. This song is sung by Hugh in the movie. Austin's trained in musical theatre.. Hence he kills this in the best way possible. (Rob is trained in opera which is how that duet came to exist - acapella singers are all so talented)

Just for further information, both Austin and Chance released new singles last Friday (April 21). Tim wanders in and out of Austin’s “Bro, Do You Even Fish” and Adam provides percussion on Chance’s “Far From Any Road.” We’re finding out that Rob is doing some non-Home Free music but it’s evidently hard to find!

Also you haven't heard Chance take a lead in Home Free yet...my favorite Chance lead is "Finally Free", but I also love Cover Me Up, which is a really special one that you get to hear Chance hit us with some special riffs & runs, and if you watch past the video you'll get an awesome short video surprise. That moment you realize that all of the singers in the group can legitimately sing lead for their own band if they wanted to. ALL of them can sing in multiple genres and sing them very well.
