Bro the same exact thing happened to mine probably 8 months ago and I've been desperately trying to find other solutions without going to the dealership or replacing the radio or entire system and just now 15 minutes ago I get on RU-vid just scrolling through the suggested videos and this popped up. I can't tell you how excited I am right now to finally ditch the Jerry rigged sound bar and have my actual sound system back, definitely subscribed to you!
My whole radio just shorts out all the time, it almost has a mind of its own! You need to fix the leak issue. I took my car to Lexus and they said the same thing!! They said they need to fix the leak and the amp at the same time and were charging me close to $2k! I will update you with the aftermarket amp and see if the full headset works. Luckily I got a free one so I will be trying that and if that doesn't work I'll have to go your route and get mine fixed. Glad you linked the united Radio... this video is everything!!!
If you have disconnected the battery with the OLD AMPit would work again for few days and the it would trigger the protection again. The best way to clear the code is to go to the System Check Mode (the Green/Gray Screen Menu) where you checked for the AMP Status and Clear All the CODES by pressing and holding on "Memory CLR" until all codes are cleared. Then turn off the car, open the door, close the door, lock the car and re-open the car, start the engine and VOILA!!!! You still have tofind a way to fix for the water condensation in the trunk where the AMP is. Maybe drill a hole, or insulate the amp with some plastic or foam materials. Thanks
Good video bro, Good video. I'm reading the comments and its seems like that is a common problem with the IS. I hope it's not cuz I'm saving for one so I can finally be a part of the lexus crew. Keep posting bro, your channel is dope, plus Jason Nguyen is killing it over in Cali, so you gotta hold it down for NYC! Stay safe.
Yeah it is a problem as for it being common I don’t know, which sucks and Lexus should step in because it’s not a cheap fix. A lot of cars actually has this issue again just double check here and there if you do get a Lexus.. and trying to stay consistent with videos but my time management is horrible lol
Thanks for the info. I'm having the same issue no radio no display working just the air and heat. I'm asking everyone one with this issue to contact your state's Attorney General office and file a complaint. If they get enough complaints they will make Lexus do a recall.
So I watched your video because I was having the same problem. I decided to open my trunk and what did I fine water in my trunk in water where my amplifier is this video was very helpful. I couldn’t believe we had the same exact problem. I called Lexus headquarters and reported this issue and I told them they need to fix it.
Same thing just happened to my amp 🤦🏽♂️. So did you end up placing the amp in a better location? I’m about to have it repaired as well but don’t want it to just sit in the same spot where water leaked through.
Heyy im currently dealing with this rn, the whole thing where the amp was was saturated with water but I haven't been able to unplug that bigger plug with the black piece, how did u remove the big plug? Helppppp
BRUH!!!!! Sick vid thanks for taking the time to put it together. I’ll be working on this today after a rain here yesterday. One question: How do we fix the leaking vent to avoid future water intrusion? Is it a replaceable part??
@@ChrisKheluram yea at least you got off easier than me. My tank got damaged by debris from an accident on the van wyck and it cost me $900 to get back in the road.
Hello Budd.. hey i have a similar problem but mine only the FM and AM radio stations dont work.. my sound is working with my phone connected with the Bluetooth.. do you think is the amp as well?
I have the same issue for the longest … this what I’ve learn. My radio has no sound, no volume indicator .. I replace my amp a new one, even though I have no signs of water leaks, it did not fix it, but I did cut my carpet and relocate my amp into the trunk for safety . Next I spent $900 for a radio of eBay, it fixed it. I have sound, 10 months later … same issue again .. I talk to a tech where I had my sub install … long story he believe there’s a defect with this particular year of radio … so I’m going send my radio out to have it repaired internally.
Yea same thing happened to mine. That flap that is under that spot by the amp let’s water in. Heard flap can be fixed but I’m scared and might re route to above on the carpet like you had it. Similar issue on my RCF. I think it’s bad location for the amp set up. Sucks tho. The new amps are 600 to repair. 1000 for refurbished. Both come with year warranty. Or new amp is 22-2500.
Honestly, I was going to wait to take apart my whole center console and passenger kick panel to check all the wiring just because I didn’t want to spend the money but I’m glad I didn’t
Hey bro your video is very informational, I'm going through the same issue and I was wondering if you would share with me what the cost of repairs was?
I have the same issue every time it rains water gets in that same spot and it doesn't work until it gets dry I have no idea how the water gets in and I bought it with a blown amp since I didn't check the radio when I bought it
This same thing just happened to my 2014 Lexus IS 250 but also the screen would power on and off all the time before the sound completely stopped. If I get a new AMP will it fix both issues? I was hoping to get an aftermarket radio but everywhere I asked, said they couldn’t do it. 😢
This was my EXACT issue as well smh 🤦🏽♀️, I just bought one used on eBay for $650!!!! I see so many similar comments here, WOW. Lexus needs to be held accountable for this. How is this not a recall?!!!!! UGH
I’m having the same issue at the moment myself for about a month. Took the amp out, opened it up, didn’t see any water in the place where the amp is held or any water damage inside the amp itself either. So now I’m not sure if the amp is “bad” or not.. don’t wanna just buy another amp without knowing if that is the real issue. Smh! Lexus should recall because everybody has the same issue. Mine is a 2017 is350 fsport.
Doing Anything electrical I would just unplug the battery as a safety you don’t necessarily need to do it when you unplug something but it’s good practice just in case
My shit is just like that. I had to ride around with my Bluetooth speaker in the car. I still can’t figure out how the water gets in my trunk. I covered the air vents after it survived the 1st water issue and the water still got in. I need to figure that part out now. I think it creeps in through a lil space separation from the body and the rear bumper. I was just like you tho before I found it…devastated and super excited when I found the issue. Then It happened again lol. It’s been months and the crazy part is some days it randomly comes back on then goes out during the drive. Imma have to pay that $650 if it’s still $650
We had really bad rain here in dallas a few days ago. 8/22/22 and I’m having the same issue. There were floodings it was pretty bad. I was driving from dropping off the kids from school and ran through a puddle. Which I had ran into after taking a new route home cause the route I was on there were cars stuck in the water. It was very high up to the cars windows and I wasn’t abt to go through that.
Im goin through the Same thing rn the way you put this vid is great gonna get the amp from a partout and see what happens the sound system is not too bad from what everyone says
My amp stopped working due to humidity when it rains and needs to dry out then it works. I bought used one from eBay and did not put amp back into metal mount but wrapped with towel and kept in back of trunk and DID not put it back in amp compartment and towels solved issue of humidity damaging the amp
GUYS THE WATER IS FILTERING TROUGH 1. One of the clips in the back of the truck, or number 2 the back lights.Same problem here. Just trying to help someone out that’s trying to figure out where the water is coming from
Can someone please helppp. Mine says audio off and wont change, cd player making noise constantly. No sound when i hit buttons and no hands free Bluetooth anymore, aircon everything else works. Checked fuses and even replaced a couple and they seem ok .. i think i found the amp and there was a 5 c coin near there i removed??. This happened after i spilt mineral water around my hear stick cigarette lighter etc. Even the charger still works where i spilt water there!? Wtf happened i cant figure it out 😭 i dont know if i need a new amp and dont want a dealership to exploit me plus i literally have zero $$. Can anyone help. I dont kniw how to reset my amp or nav system/ audio. All i can find is hold the volume and power button down which does literally nothing 😩🤦♀️ please help someone, everything going wrong lately! Cant even afford a service!!
I have the same problem with my Lexus is 250 2015 with this radio no working properly after I see this video i star looking in the trunk and have like 2 inch of water in it in the amp
Bro my 2015 is250 amp turns on during sunny days and doesn’t work on rainy days it’s pretty crazy considering it’s a Lexus lol everyone says it’s the vent and moisture but not sure man
Yer I've been noticing this too on my 13' GS350. Sometimes in the morning when it's hot af the sound and volume control stop working. And when it rains it sometimes get even more glitchy. I just took mine apart and saw some corrosion on some pins I tried cleaning it up but Now it stopped working for good usually I would drive for a bit and it comes back on but now nothing.
My sister has the same exact car as mine 2014 Lexus IS 250 and my boy has the same as that year but the F sport. We all have the same problem the radio and navigation system and the cigarette lighter charger and the USB charger comes on and off and then sometimes the radio comes on stays on for about couple minutes and then turns off. And then sometimes it just stays black on the navigation screen no radio no nothing. Then sometimes the screen is black but it has some words on the screen that says a program cannot be read please consult to a dealer. My friend thought it was the radio so he change the radio same problem
what uuuup bro big fan outa the bay area Cali gotta 350 just like urs I wanna say u got the water from all that snow out there brotha lol notice water in my trunk one year after going to Tahoe.
I wouldn’t doubt it the amp is just flopping around in my trunk at this point lol eventually I’ll find the time to fix where ever that water is coming from. At least my radio still works lol
Send the amplifier to OEM Auto Audio Inc. out of Manlius, NY - they fixed my amplifier quickly and let me know that the pressure vent mounted above the amplifier caused the leak.
Dude how did you take JUST the one panel off without having the remove all the other panels in the trunk? Every video I’m watching they gotta remove the main panel where the tire sits to get to the panel where the AMP is 😭😭
I got rear ended by a semi truck long story short Lexus doesn’t even want to look at since it was totaled I’m having the same issue and no one knows what’s wrong with it I’m definitely gonna try this , did you have to buy extra cords that attach to the amp ?
@@Brutallic thanks, I replace most of the fuses to make sure while back and that is not the issue and I took the car a month ago to Lexus dealership to get diagnostic from them they say is internal fault inside the radio they are asking 3k to fix it still the same 💀😂
Yeah I did,, just be aware some lexus dealerships charge you more or less, sometimes they just make up a price because they don’t know what the hell you’re talking about lol.. so check around with that PCM update the tune will not go through
I now have that stupid issue. That might be the radio itself. Trust me I want to junk this car because of it. No fix yet.. I’m not paying $800-$1k to repair it
Dude I’m at a lost this this damn AMP I want to do a trunk set up. if I do wire in a subwoofer and mono amp to the stock amp wiring and then stock amp decides to die again I’m still screwed lol
It's actually crazy how many people are dealing with this, I think water had got in mine because of a big puddle I ended up hitting. Not too sure either
There is a vent on the side panel of the car where the amp is located, if you reach in with your finders you can feel the little flaps. Water gets in thru there and moisture.
@@ChrisKheluramit’s a shame it does bcus this is suppose to be a luxury car. It’s like they set it up to run into sneaky lil defects like this to drive consumers crazy and have us running to the overpriced dealership for repairs. Should’ve been a recall cus of this problem
@@Ashantiblack79 you could but then your panel that covers it wouldn’t fit until you cut and modified it. Simplest way to fix it would be to change out the vent if it’s going bad
My amp not showing on the damn hidden menu, sent the amp out comes back with a pass report. Take the center console out clean every connector, take the radio out and do the same and notice the radio had some hand written numbers as if they replace it to. I'm getting fed up and just like you I didn't check the damn radio and the dealer kept playing with me. Did you buy that car from some indian guys in ny? I think u got a white f-sport correct? Someone bough the car from under me back in March so it would be funny if it was you, I ended up buying one local the week after
Lmao that would be crazy but no I got my car in September but there was guy looking at the same car I have, honestly though the Lexus I bought was a lemon lol.. if the Amp passed I would look into the head unit, also there is wiring on the passenger side kick panel clean those out and PLEASE disconnect the battery first. If not that you need too a short of any of you door speakers it will cause no sound if there’s a slight short in the stereo connection
Bro, I have the SAME issue right now. This would be my 2nd time replacing my amp…is there a way you can provide a link for the amp? I seen a lot of ppl selling used ones for like $500 or so…how much was this one?!
