Hey guys, in today's video I share a lovely card that I recently worked on, with a cute blue starry vase and red and pink flowers from the daisy family. Here is a short story behind this handmade card: I painted this little painting with watercolors two years or so ago (I think sometime in the summer). Back then I wasn’t thinking of using it for a paper quilling purpose (or at least that's what I remember 🤔). I was just painting it for fun. It was inspired by a lovely vase from my home (which is somewhat similar but of a different color) that was filled with red and pink daisy-like flowers from my family's yard - that summer, two years ago. It was a cute little sight so I decided to try and paint it, at that time. Well, the years passed and my little painting remained in a closet… until recently when I decided I could maybe try and use it for paper quilling. I was a little hesitant at first because it is a smaller painting and it would be a little meticulous with all the little petals I would have to make, but I said, “Why not, let me try and see what I can make out of it”. Such a beautiful little piece Miriam and I think what really makes it special is the blue vase. You have the all the daisies packed in cheek by jowl and then this beautifully painted bold vase. It’s the contrast of all the meticulous little quilled petals and leaves and then the open on edge quilled outline of the vase with just the shape rendered in the paper strips. A perfect example of how your painting and quilling perfectly complement each other. Just gorgeous. ❤😘
Thank you very much, Orla! 😊 I'm so glad you liked it! Yes, the vase was one of my main concerns (not knowing how I could make it stand out). I decided to use narrow paper strips (3mm width) for its outline to just make its design stand out - it already had its own unique design so I thought the best thing was to just leave it open with no quilling inside. Indeed, there's a contrast there with the packed flowers and open look of the vase. I'm happy I could finish this piece! 💚

Thank you very much, Ilona! 😊 I was a little bit hesitant to make this card because I didn't quite know how to make the vase stand out, and also I knew there would be much meticulous work with all of the tiny petals. But, I decided to keep it simple with the vase and only make its outline, and also I used narrower paper strips - to make the entire piece look more delicate. I'm very glad that you liked it! 💚

I realised that using narrower paper strips would make things more delicate and beautiful for this particular card. I'm glad I could finish it! 💚
Merveilleux toujours aussi minutieuses vos réalisations, j'aime beaucoup. Lorsque j'ai des cadeaux à faire pour des anniversaires ou pour les fêtes de fin d'année, je fais du Quilling je trouve que c'est une activité apaisante et offrir quelque chose que l'on a fabriqué ça a de la valeur surtout pour la personne qui le reçoit.😀
