Permatrims would really help you. They give you some extra trim control, lift and help with slip. They will also get you on plane easier. Very good product. Had them on my last two boats.

If you repower go merc! A lot of people hate on it but the new 200s are bitchin! I have a 225 and it’s got so much torque compared to our old Suzuki it’s insane. 120lbs lighter too! Dead silent and more efficient.

Prop sizing is n art. Yamaha wants to see rpm’s for a 300: at full throttle around 5800 to 6000. That is the peak performance for that size motor. When boat is loaded with people and gear, it may drop to 5600 rpm’s but does not cause excessive strain on engine. Not sure what Suzuki wants full throttle rpm’s, but my boat prop is matched perfect for hole shot, and load, but top end speed is something I had to give up.

This brings back so many memories of my project boat. In hind sight it would have been more cost, energy and time efficient to have purchased a newer, more up-front expensive boat, but I did learn a ton with the old girl. In the end, termites got in her and ate her to the bone. That wet wood is a magnet for those nasty winged fkers. All the best to you, cpt Adam!
