@@PleasantSims I'm not a stan of any one sim game. I love them all because I love the sims. While I do defend the sims 4 a lot due to, in my opinion, EA shooting out the game before it was ready, I feel bad for the people who worked on it. They did that only to have their work gutted at the last minute. It's not their fault EA made a corporate decision that possibly ruined their rep for good. I do defend the game because of that. That being said, I do see many problems with the game. This is addressing one of my biggest. I would be here to download if you chose to do this for the entire game. It's up to you and your decision but I wouldn't say no to a full save. It's a wonderful testament to our community that there are people who would be willing to do that for people who don't know how or have the time. SIDE NOTE: I have been on their side where I have put in years of work only to be told that nothing I did would be used. I can feel their pain. I do get a little passioned when I speak about this subject.
There’s literally a relationship cheat. You’re telling me EA couldn’t enter a cheat to make the bffs best friends? Or make Bob and Elisa not get along? So stupid.
I think this was initially a mistake. When I made my own save file, I realized that changed relationships don’t transfer across the gallery, everyone just sets to the default. Either way, though, I wish it would be updated.
THIS. It's absolutely baffling how little they care about actually following through. It should take no more than 2-3 hours to fix the relationships, and I'm being generous here. Probably 1 hour tops. Because that's all they have to do. Nobody is asking them to change the Calientes or to make Bella more darkskinned. Just follow through with the family descriptions! It's literally just a relationship cheat.
One sided relationships is something I've been begging for for 6 years. Just this one thing would add so much depth to the Sims 4 and maybe would let me play it longer than 20 minutes without getting bored,
I feel like more complex relationships is top of my series wish list! I want crushes, frenemies, I want my sims to be able to have affairs and for the relationship title to actually reflect that its an affair! Unrequited loves!
What a half-assed excuse to make families in the sims 4 look so terrible. There were so many families in sims franchise that deserved a place in sims 4 base game. The Newbie/broke, Pleasants, crumblebottom, bachelor(bella’s family) even the FRIOS were better than eliza and bob pancakes(god, i hate them)
@@millyvice4423 And it's not even executed well, they're telling these characters have that but none of the relationships in the Live Mode show. They just leave it up to the player to take the description from there and that's unforgivably LAZY.

The entirety of the bff household is a reference to my fave childhood spin-off sims game, mysims kingdom. You had these exact characters and you as the player could end up deciding who travis chooses. Its sad that in the sims 4 no one cares for them because of how ea put them in the game (because same i never even entered their houselot)
It's actually a fun callback to MySims Kingdom: On the Academy Island, Liberty and Summer both have a crush on Travis, and you get to decide who ends up with Travis, while the other one ends up with Chaz McFreely 😊
I've always believed that Jonny Zest is the Malcolm Landgraab from the Sims 3. He was always different from his mother, a strict business woman, and was closer to his father. So what I believe is after Malcolm "Jonny" refused to take on the family business, they, or Nancy, disowned him and had another son, the new Malcolm. Because think about it, if its the same family from the sims 3, why is Jonny older than Malcolm? Malcolm would have to be older, but he's a teen while Jonny is an young adult. And Malcolm was more like his dad and this new Malcolm is more like Nancy.
I have another variation of this theory: Johnny Zest is indeed Malcolm Landgraab, but the Malcolm Landgraab living with the family now is an impostor! He's not even related to them (hence why he's got that nasty yellow hair, he's not a natural blond so it's a bad bleach job), Nancy and Geoffrey got "fake Malcolm" to play the role of their son to cover up that they disowned their real son because they're embarrassed of him and wanted to save face by having a son they could be proud of to inherit the family wealth. "Fake Malcolm" is a snob, evil and dastardly - he has the right personality to take over the family business as a ruthless wealthy land-grabbing mogul.
TS4 is sooo bad with this overall! Bella and Cassandra were both made too pale, and the Caliente sisters too (looking at their TS2 family tree their heritage appears to be Spanish and Arabic, they are NOT pasty white ladies). Or when they added in Dirk Dreamer and made his skin lighter and his hair and eyes brown, whereas in TS2 he had the darkest skin tone, black hair and dark blue eyes. Way to only rely on name recognition and not even try to recreate the character...
Me too! I did the same. And Malcolm gay as well. Johnny x Lothario. Malcolm x Mitchell. Everything because Johnny rejected the flirty comment of my female Sim just after being best friend 4ever. None of them had a partner. So...
I did kind of a similar story it was specifically Nancy that disowned him. When she died and Malcolm took over I decided that Malcolm was not as evil as his mother and allowed Johnny to become part of the family again. Johnny's Husband Roger Denvurs is head of a Corporation I made up for my lore.
Calientes are actually my biggest pet peeve in ts4. From their look to their characteristic, EA totally screwed them up. And Katrina? Who tf is Katrina? I don't understand why they didn't name their mother as she was in ts2. I get it that it's an alternate timeline/universe but I don't really understand EA's decisions. Anyway I love the makeovers, great job
I don't know if it's still the case but the game's censor used to detect "Nighat" as a bad word and wouldn't let you name sims or lots. It seems like it must have been updated recently.
@@ii-vl9vc but the surnames are always different in other countries. They could just change the name if it was that difficult to pronounce (which I don't thibk it is). For example, the Landgraabs are called "Quero-Tudo-Que-É-Seu" here in Brazil.
Back when TS Bustin' Out was brand new, we all knew who it was based off of--It was a kind of joke about someone from the 80s in the real estate business who was a real jerk about using eminent domain to take people's homes and build nonsense on the land. Guess who?
@@puffymcbuffy Honestly I find it weird how this hasn’t been brought up before in our gaming community. I think some of the Wild comes from Wright’s attendance to Montessori schools, because they’re so focused on individual growth (like how we play our sims!)

This makes the world feel more alive, they disregarded the stories completely. It’s almost like they made the sims and slapped on the story as an afterthought but never actually implemented the story. Very annoying.
Pleasant Sims Since the Calientes have a alien background, even though they aren’t really aware of it, for the get to work save file you could add that into their genetics somehow. Do you think Don and the caliente sisters would know the goths? Was Dina still the widow of Michael Bachelor who was Bella’s Brother? It’d be cool to add those little details to make it more like the sims 2. Even make Cassandra have a little crush on Don once she ages into a young adult.
Interesting how that aligns with how disney treated the entire Star Wars movie franchise. They introduced characters with very little background stories and no developement...they never had a plan.
This might get me to play some TS4. The minute I head that TS4 would be in an "Alternate Universe" I was like daaaaamn wait what?! Don't they know even people that don't play The Sims know who Bella is?! The lore is a huge part of the franchise. Even the smallest households had a huge backstory on TS2 and TS3. EA you should be embarrassed. That's it. Dishonor! Dishonor on you whole family, dishonor on you, dishonor your cow, dishonor on your game packs!
Well in my opinion they can make alternate universes and play around with some aspects. (Except for mortimer just being a dang scientist if he's there). But ATLEAST they should invest in it. And they didnt. It is all setdressing.
It's crazy how EA even released the game like this. They should have put in the actual relationships instead of just empty flavor text. And even then they have made no moves to change it in 6 years. The only minor thing they did to "evolve" one of these stories was creating Iggy Pancakes after the toddler update, but even now he's not automatically made a member of the Pancakes household in new games. It's such a shame. It's nice to have fans that actually care about the characters and their lore.
Why have they made so many sims evil? Like I understand the point of having evil sims, but no quiet neighbourhood which doesn't appear to be in a particularly sketchy place should have more than one evil sim...it's ridiculous!
It's a shame that EA decided to not follow the lore and don't care about the households. When I played Sims 2 I actually never created my own Sims, since my own stories could never beat the premade ones. In the Sims 3 it was really fun to see Mortimer and Bella as children, that was just so precious to me and I played with them a lot, especially when Generations came out. I also actually loved the Sims 3 Back to the Future Landgraab story, where the mother just cloned her children and all looked and were dressed like her. Aaaah, I miss the old Sims. It still is fun to create now all the stories I remember with my own Sims, but it just feels different. And I would've loved to see more and different stories. Sims 4 should get disowned from the family, like Johnny.
The base game just became alot better. I always 1. add Mary-Sue, Daniel Pleasant and the Oldies 2. modify their relationship using MC Command Center (mainly to Angela and Lilith Pleasant from Discover University) 3. add the no inappropriate behaviour mod for family and friends 4. Play the Sims 2 Storyline in the Sims 4 My problem is still the shallowness. When Mary-Sue walked in on Daniel she kissed him afterwards and in less than a day got over it (based on the emotion system)
The Pleasants would be so good to add to the game! Btw, there is a Sims 4 version of them in Maxis gallery. They did some of the famous households a few time ago! Before university I added them to my game :')
Yeah the emotions don't last because of a lack of a memory system in the game :/ Downloading the realistic reactions mod and Meaningful Stories mod really helps tho, it makes the interactions have consequences! Just wish EA bothered with focusing on gameplay with depth.
I literally remade all of Pleasantview in Newcrest and all of Strangetown in Strangerville in my save, relationships and all 😂 (though the Singles household from Strangetown has to be in Oasis Springs because Strangerville is WAY too small) It took almost a solid week of work
Years ago when it first started the Sims 4 you could have one sided love and friendship but people kept complaining about it and the gurus changed the relationship to both romance and friendship
I thought so!!! I'm so glad you said this because I distinctly remember making Pleasantview back in 2014-ish and setting Darren's relationship for Cassandra with cheats. I thought maybe I misremembered! Why would they take this away!???
@@PleasantSims I also remember that the stories early on were implemented. I specifically played the Caliente household and the friendship between Nighat and Don was 25% for Nighat and 15% for Don. Don and Nina were Best Friends, and had a bit of romance. Don also had a small crush on Dina while Dina had a huge crush on Don.

WHAT I LOVE MY SIMS KINGDOM HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THIS OMG THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING I EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THEM Edit: honestly I can’t even be mad at myself for not noticing cause the only real resemblance they have are first names and hair color like that’s literally it. EA didn’t do anything skill-wise or character-wise to reflect any base game Sims’ alleged personality so I’m not surprised. I WILL be making changes to them the next time I go in-game. (Did they white-wash Liberty too? I’ll have to check again but damn does EA suck at making sims jfc)

i feel that Geoffrey Landgraab would have had a positive relationship with Johnny because he isn't a Landgraab by blood so he would start feeling bad and try to salvage a relationship with his son

It's crazy to me that even after you went on and tried to give these families more of a story and drama to make them more interesting, I still find them bland and boring by only looking at them through this video. Maybe it's just my hate for TS4 talking... I feel like the game has this super artificial vibe, like it's just a caricature of what could look like a good game. The fact you can't even make one-sided relationships is just so reveling of that fact. Everything looks fake. Anyway... Thanks for making this! I'm sure people will take this and at least try to play more meaningful stories with these premades. It's just not for me.
Wow! Thank you so much! Angela and Lilith in Discover University needs fixing and probably every other family in every Sims 4 world... Plubella did fix realtionships in her save files but she edited so much else and you need all packs to really enjoy her new builds and families. I would like a save file with just fixed households in the expansions with added main worlds.
This is such an interesting video, I love seeing other peoples takes on the maxis sims. I recently started redoing and making over all the sims to create a base save file for myself and I was so shocked when I actually read some of the bios and realised I had no idea what a lot of the backstory's were because they literally aren't present in the game! Literally until this moment didn't realise Don was meant to be Katrina's boytoy! Maxis did them SO dirty, their original make up and brows gave me evil stepsister vibes. In my game Dina is a social media star turned successful actress, with a on the rocks marriage to a 'producer' who lives off his family money. Dina has bought herself a nice mid range house in Del Sol Valley and let Nina move in while she studied and got her uni degree, she then became a very successful Lawyer with lots of celebrity clients that she meets through Dina. Katrina quit her job and is financially supported by Dina and by her many boyfriends 😂 I always tend to just evict Johnny Zest and ignore him but I'm kinda into your interpretation, I might make hims a Landgrabb cousin and turn him into a succession inspired cousin Gregg 😂
Also my Dyslexic brain read Dina as Diana, which is what I've been calling her since the sims 2, I was shook when I went to make her over and actually read the name 😂 I had to google and check that had always been her name
And when the world needed her the most after the disaster of Journey to Batuu... Cindy fixes the lore and storyline in the Sims 4 👏🏻 You give us hope 😌
Ty for making Johnny unfriendly with the Landgraabs! I always had to force him into arguments with his parents to get him at a base negative relationship level with them just to have a starting point for his story
This blessing showed up in my recommend. I've stopped playing the sims 4 quite a while a go but man this almost makes me want to start again. I always loved the previous games previous made family stories and drama. I always played them in between my own creations. Definitely something that was missing in 4. Beautiful job!
I’m pretty sure if you use the UI Cheats mod, you can click on the relationship bar to change the romance and friendship relationship to be more one-sided!
this is such a great idea Cindy, I love what you’ve done here. Especially the friendships you’ve made between the different sims which could set you up for romance in the future like Alexander and Olivia. The Calientes & Don look so great! 🖤
There is a mod for one sided crushes and also a mod for FWB too with a new romantic system (it has a system that depends on the relationship weight and sims can catch feelings! If sims agree to date, they will become bf/gf and get romantic lvls). There is also a woohoo wellness mod too that adds pregnancy wishes and stds.
I love that you did this! I also fixed the families like this! Especially the landgraabs and johnny zest. These are such basic things ....once again EA drops the ball.
There has been an attractiveness option in the Whicked Whims mod for a while. It means that your Sim may "fall in love" with another Sim they meet. Something like love at first sight. However, this does not add any relationship between these Sims. It's just that your Sim thinks about their crush a lot, has moodlets associated with it. Overall a very nice option, not completely polished, but I definitely recommend it.
I decided not to do this since I'm not sure if people like to play the worlds separately like I do. But I can definitely make another save file with multi-world relationships! Thanks for the suggestion!
I think Malcom's traits makes sense if you consider that his older brother revelled against his parent and left when he was a kid. That mixed with the fact that he is now a teen could have made him the opposite of what he was.
Oooo I LOVE this, I always have to fix the premades before I play because it drives me insane! I will say I do understand why they changed nighats name, since otherwise she can't be uploaded to the gallery, but other than that they completely butchered her and her family, so thank you for fixing them 🙏
Oh my gosh I had no idea just how much I needed this in my life lol I was so mad when I loaded up the Caliente Sisters household. It was like EA forgot their own product or something 🙄 Then you load up the households and the descriptions don’t even match up properly. If you’re gonna tell me that Bob and Eliza have a distant relationship then I expect to “work” it out myself but nope as soon as they load they’re talking like nothing has changed 😑 Thanks so much for this!

When you entered in the caliente household I was waiting for a romance between Don and the maid, hahaha but i loved it anyway and i'm so impressed how involved and dedicated you are with The Sims Franchise ❤️
I've been tired of the Sims 4 since I think island living and I have tried so many mods to try to make the game more fun for me but it didn't work 😭 I made one family that I absolutely loved and played them through to the end of their lives but I couldn't make anymore that I loved after that and I dunno why. So yeah I'm through with the Sims 4.I'll stick with 2 and 3 but 4 is done in my books, I don't think anything they will come up with will bring me back but who knows maybe.
Fun fact! The BFF household in Willow Creek is actually characters from the MySims franchise! As a suggestion, I'd love to see the Pleasant Twins in the University Exp to have their lore fixed. They were SUCH fun...

I did something similar, but for the BFF i actually make them be BFF, just increased at max the friendship with command center and able to have more than 1 best friend, and they are actually BEST FRIENDS each other, and you know? i started to live on willow creek with my own sims, and in the "neighboor meeting" they literally are friends, before they didn't even talk to each other, but now when i see them close, they do all sort of interactions, hugs, friendly fights, etc... i think this was accomplished thanks to the slice of life mod hahaha, but finally i see the game more vivid.
The fact that youtube recommended me this shows that youtube is lowkey stalking me cause I haven't played sims 4 in a while cause of the lack of lore and I am too swamped with school to start making one up so you are a literal angel sent to me at this point. The lack of lore is so sad because in sims 3 I would literally leave the family I am playing with and go read the lores of other people cause it was always so interesting and I knew it was actually happening. Imagine sims 4 doing it ha.

You could try to add Cornelia Goth back into the game, since if you check Mortimer's sims 2 memory, she was still alive until he was an elder. I think you could add Agnes Crumplebottom, but her daughter is half ghost half human. Gunther would probably be a ghost. If you get Cats and Dogs Cornelia will have more cats after Gunther died, and will keep showing up to there home, as she would still be sad after Gunther died. What if Jocasta Bachelors' urn is in Cornelia's Basement? She would dislike Michael Bachelor, but Michael is engaged to Dina Caliente. Cornelia is friends with the Landgrabs, Spencer-Kim-Lewis elders, and Eliza Pancakes. She is enemies with Dina Caliente, but good friends with Bella. She has a high painting, cooking, and parenting skill. She has a painting of Bella Goth. The basements with all the urns is the 2nd basement, as it's locked off. There is William Lewis, who is Vivian's dead husband.

Brilliant, although I would also suggest setting skills and career levels that make sense (especially for adults and elders), like surely Mortimer would be much higher than level 3 in his career? Why not also make some Sims have relationships with those in other neighbourhoods considering they are interconnected; like, I'd imagine Travis would get along well with the guys from Roomies household, for example
Malcom Landgraab also features in the sims 2: open for business as a standalone character - it is implied he is “cunning” and “brilliant” in the sims 2 version of his bio... so why make him a good sim in ts3 and an evil one again in ts4? It always annoyed me because I got so used to playing Malcolm landgraab as “bad guy” in ts2 and it doesn’t transfer well through ts3 and 4. I loooove your channel though! I’ve only been following for a couple of weeks but I am so invested!!!! Love it!!! 💕💕
It is not clear if they are the same Landgraab. As the one in TS2's mother's name isn't Nancy, in fact there are no Nancys in that whole family line. TS3 and TS4 versions are the same family.
Everyone was waiting on the much needed Caliente overhaul but the way my Sims 3-loving heart said “oh thank god she fixed the Landgraabs” was very real
For a moment I didn't know who you meant with the Caliente sisters, but then I realized it's because I played sims 1 and 2 in Dutch (I don't think they were included in sims 3 were they?). Here they were called "Heethart" (Hotheart) instead. Iirc they also changed Goth to "Van de Kerkhof" (From the Cemetery. Oddly, family names including the word "Kerkhof" aren't uncommon here irl). Landgraab became Landgraaf (Landgrave/Count), And most other family names were changed in some way, be it a literal translation or a reimagined name to show the personality of the household. It would be fun to see how other countries changed the names in their version of the game.
it always made me laugh that in the calientes bio ea act like they’re the most attractive sims in the world and then there’s my sims waking up looking like actual supermodels next door
you can actually make a one sided relationship in the sims , or at least you have been able to, but it's really annoying. In the cheat text box you can remotely set the relationship between 2 sims from the perspective of one of the sims, meaning that if you wanted them both to be on the same page you'd have to put the cheat in twice. I missed that the first time I used the cheat, so I got a little confused when one sim thought they were soulmates while the other sim didn't even know them.
Ahhhhhhh! Thank you so much! I was just thinking about going into my saves and editing relationships and stuff, but you have done this probably a million times better than I could. I love how you fixed the Calientes! If you are still looking for suggestions, maybe you could edit Liberty to make her look more like she did in My Sims? Travis, Summer, and Liberty were all originally from that game. While Travis and Summer look close enough to their My Sims counterparts, with slight clothing changes and Summer going from pony tails to braided hair and Liberty going the other way around, but... Liberty originally had darker skin and is another whitewashed character in the sims 4. She also had buckteeth in My Sims too. It makes me really sad to see how many characters EA whitewashed. And even more upset because Travis, Summer, and Liberty are just about the only returning sims besides the Goths who are semi accurate to their original portrayals, but also that every single returning sim with darker skin has been whitewashed! (a least for the base game, I'm not too sure about expansions, I hope it's better.)
They just used the guise of an alternative universe to completely butcher the traditions of sims 2/3, and the fact that they didn’t even make relationships and whitewashed sims is just disgusting honestly
