PLS go check out Jennim (you obvs all know her anyway) • What I Eat in a Day 🇰🇷... Seriously, if you try any of these recipes tag me in the pictures because they are SO yummy !! Instagram: gracebooth97 Vlog: extra Grack
No joke! I was getting ready to comment and say: “ Can you imagine, if Jenn watched and commented on Graces video? How ecstatic she would be? She would be buzzing!” & then I looked and seen she watched and commented and my little heart was so happy for our girl that I teared up a little! 🥺♥️
Hi i’m from Italy and I’m quarantined and I literally don’t know what to do please keep posting this much Grackle you’re the only joy in my day lmao love ya
Your knives are soooo blunt!! lol You would have had an easier time ripping that broccoli with your fingers!! 😆 Also... “Is this better than tofu?” “Is that a question?” lol Your Dad is a hoot!!! Congrats on reaching 300,000 subs, you deserve it!!!!
not having pudding is my struggle in a relationship with my Chinese husband. We live in china, so eat more Chinese food and after almost 4 years he still doesn't get why I need at least a tiny square of chocolate after dinner. They do eat fruits though after dinner, as a pudding, but let's make it clear - it's not the same.
Omg I totally relate. I'm born and brought up British but when I visited my extended family in algeria, they put fruit down for pudding. Not complaining because it's healthier than the other puddings I had in mind but I do miss it when I don't get the sweet kick
I dont know how you make such different cultures work in a relationship like that, I'd struggle, friendship is fine, but to marry, don't think I could. I struggled with the differences in a relationship with the boyfriend I had, and we were from the same culture, and that was plenty difference for me. I'd especially struggle if they didn't care to understand my own needs and favoured only their own
Hi Grace! My husband and I recently started seedlings for our garden this year and I thought it would be so fun to watch you make videos on that kind of thing! Maybe starting some vegetables or flowers from seeds and then tending to them for the summer and cooking with what you grow? Love you loads! ☺️♥️
When you make a ssam you have to put the whole thing in your mouth in one go! But otherwise, people in Korea DO eat sligthly blanched cabbage leaves as their wraps sometimes especially the ladies who are dieting cause they believe that cabagge is better for losing weight. So your dad was kinda on the right track. :D
Im married to a Korean and currently living in korea so excited to see this lol! They dont have sausage rolls or crumpets here :( i need to start making some seoul vlogs haha. They put sugar on garlic bread here, and basically all savory English food lol.
No sausage rolls? Blasphemy! One could not live there without--- Alright i'm done. I'm gonna try that sugar on garlic bread tho, sounds... interesting?
There’s sugar in everything! I tried the garlic bread here, and it’s palatable, but the fact that it’s sweet ruins it. I’m here for six months as an exchange student, and I’m from Australia
I’m a bit obsessed with Korean things, a lot obsessed according to my husband. Between the Kdramas, the music and the food, yeah it’s an obsession. I love attempting to make Korean food here in Canada, luckily I have two Korean grocery stores near by. I would love to see you make English food by using ingredients available in Korea,,,,I’d like to know if everything is available for you. When I travel I love to go into grocery stores just to see. If you start a vlog, you could bring your viewers food shopping.
here’s a little guide on how to pronounce everything: (oseyo, oh-say-oh) (red chili paste, go-chu-jang, jang should rhyme with long in an american accent) (soy bean soup, ten/dwen-jang-ji-gae)
i also noticed that your rice is different than what koreans typically eat. Most koreans as well as other east asians eat short grain rice. It is a smaller, sticker grain. Which looks similar to sushi rice.
Seriously love that Grack is one of the few youtubers that's always true to herself and I love it. Her personality is so inviting and entertaining. I love her positivity. Thanks for the amazing content. ❤️❤️
We had a Korean teacher at school, she ran a Korean cooking club and would teach us to make different things like dumplings and fun things like that then once a month she would come in on a Saturday (I went to boarding school) and we would all cook a Korean meal for dinner, our favourite was one dish we would call red chicken, she would make a super spicy traditional version and then a milder version for anyone who couldn’t hack the spice. I also had a Korean room mate who would bring noodles and snack back to school and they were so good!
I just love your videos. I love how they are so real. Not someone with green screens and scripts and constantly checking themselves making sure they look amazing. You’ve got the content people want. That people need. Real life. Having fun. Somewhat comforting to watch. Some you tubers are very hard to watch as they have completely unreachable goals and fake personas that make normal people feel inadequate. And it’s so humble to watch someone just make videos they enjoy for the sake of it being fun. Good on you!
If you’re serious about making kimchi, here’s a video from Brad Leone of Bon Appetit where he makes kimchi. He has a whole series on fermented food. Sorry if I’m repeating something you already know. If you haven’t already been watching Bon Appetit’s video channel, I highly recommend it. You’d probably really like Gourmet Makes featuring Claire Saffitz, where she tries to make gourmet versions of American snack foods. Here’s the link to Brad’s kimchi video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sUwy71ddj1M.html
pro tips: the dakgalbi can be easily elevated with sliced cabbage and/or carrots stir fried in, and you can even try swapping out chicken for different types of protein like sliced pork belly or beef slices! and of course, kimchi is a staple side dish for any korean meal. you did a really great job though! it makes me so happy to see you trying new things and getting your family in on it too; can't wait to see you making more asian dishes!
I clicked on this video so fast! I've been living in Korea for 2.5 years as an English teacher. I love your enthusiasm to try and make Korean food! A suggestion for a way to amp up the chicken recipe: melt mozzarella cheese over the top of the chicken! It's often eaten that way here (I've actually never seen it in a wrap form). Koreans don't typically have dessert right at the end of their meal but they do eat lots of snacks and desserts. I saw a lot of common snacks at the Korean mart you went to! Kancho (kind of like chocolate filled pastry puff), 칙촉 (chocolate chip cookies), 빅파이 (strawberry jam between two kind of biscuits), and choco pies (two cakes with marshmallow between and covered in chocolate) are delicious!
Prounounced oh-seh(like the seh in separate)-yo I’m British but studied Korean at uni 🤗 best year of my life spent in Seoul Edit: red chill paste pronounced go-choo-jang
As a Korean I approve! I'm sure other comments have said this but your dad is right about the cabbage wrap thing - people actually eat dak-galbi (the chicken dish you made) often with chopped up cabbage stewed with the chicken, and with potatoes too. Cabbages are often blanched and used as a wrap as well, but I much prefer lettuce.
Hey girl, Jenn mentioned her wok that she loves is from 'Sur la Table' so I looked at their online store and they have a huge range of wooden spoons and many like she uses too. The quality looks good. I'm sure u can get cheaper but I guess u pay for the quality and that they are authentic. Xxxx
Aha, I’m so glad someone else feels the same way as me about breakfast! I wake up at least 45 minutes earlier than I need to so that I have time to make and enjoy my breakfast - it also gives me a bit of me time and it’s so relaxing😂🙌🏼
Hiya Grace! Im from Korea and i can tell you those are authentic Korean foods! I am not a good cook but I've never failed to cook those 3 foods so they are my go to. I add onions, mushrooms, potatoes, chili to the soup so it tastes deeper and richer. It was lovely to see you trying to cook Korean food and nailing it. Thank you so much for making every video. I really enjoy them. x
omggggg, please do nigerian 🇳🇬 food. I would love that. I feel like you'd do very well. You could try porridge yam w/ vegetables is like my favorite, or like a jollof rice. And your dad's reaction would be wonderful! 💕
I really fancy doing more of this kind of cooking as it looks so healthy but tasty too!! I love food and cooking but I really fancy the way some Asian countries cook normal food but stay trim and healthy with losing any flavour or enjoyment!! Thanks Grace as you made it seem more achievable!xx
Hello! Ive been binge watching your videos this whole week and i was so excited to watch you doing Korean food bc I am Korean lol. I love how you try your best and always being really positive. As a tip the anchovies you can easily use them to get some stokes out of it. Also when you make soy bean soup you can put paste into 2:1 ratio of soy bean paste:gochujang it will be little bit spicy and its AMAZING!! I Am curious what you are gonna do with left over of korean pastes lol
I started making my own kimchi last year with 0 experience and it's so much easier than you might think! I'd definitely recommend watching the Brad Leone video to learn about the science and then the Food 52 "How to make kimchi according to my Korean mom" article has a fantastic recipe ♥️
Omagosh...again, sames! ! I watch Jen, Ivy Kitchen, Hagreendaal, Choki to name but a few (sorry for spelling) my daughter and I have shopped for the basics to do just as you’re doing in this vid! Soo much ch fun and soo tasty hey? (Can’t wait for Jen to have her baby!) nice one Grace, really enjoyed this ❤️🐚
I'm also fascinated by Korean, Japanese and Chinese lifestyle. Their rituals and philosophies are intriguing. Just the smallest thing can have so much meaning. Nice one , Grace 😊
Such a great video! Glad I was eating when I hit play. I’ve been watching Korean Englishman in the last year. It’s been such fun learning about another culture, especially the cuisine.
I saw the Gochujang on your counter in another video (think it was a vlog) and I was SO EXCITED to see what you were going to do with Korean food! It’s my favourite cuisine
You should try tteokbokki!! It’s amazing! It’s rice cake in a sauce with gochujang (the red paste you used) I love it and it is fairly spicy! And you’d also put fish cakes in it as well. Kimchi is amazing I love it! It’s great as a banchan (side dish in korean)
생각보다 잘 나오는 영상이였어요!! 요즘 트렌드 따라하는 영상은 좀....별론데...근데! 진짜 잘 찍었어요. 요리 도잘 했어요~ 한국 음식은 정말 멋지게 나왔어요. 감사합니다 ^_^ thank you for making korean food deliciously i hope you can enjoy more in the future~
I try making kimchi, and it amazing! I put it in like fried rice, soup, even in veggie burger! I took inspiration from Joshua Wiessman recipe and many other traditional kimchi video! I recommend to let it fermented maybe a days than taste it, after, if you like it more fermented leave it an a another day or two ! In the end, it’s quite easy and really tasty!
if you're going to do a part 2 of this or another korean related food video(please do I loved it) go to H-Mart in New Malden! A bit of a drive but WORTH IT!! They have pretty much everything you would ever need! You could totally do cabbage for the wraps too, just steam some cabbage leaves and you have 양배추쌈(yangbaechu ssam)! for a dish called 보쌈 (bo-ssam, pork wraps) pickled cabbage is used.
My friend was telling me that’s a classic Korean spoon, they use it for everything! I was the same as you as soon as I watched the video I was on a hunt for a similar spoon! I found one kind of life it on eBay if you type in Korean/Asian wooden spoon!!
Hi Gracie. I have found that Asian bought meals usually just have a fruit or ice cream for dessert or, really easy, banana fritters (just mashed banana and egg 1/1 fried in olive oil). Best wishes,
I love Korean food! I've been trying so many recipes lately, my latest one (not very healthy) was chappaguri. I had it with pickled radish and it was delicious 😋 I also love bibimbap and kimchi fried rice
Love going to Supermarkets on holiday and seeing all the foreign food. Don't think we have a Korean supermarket, although lots of Polish stores near me and Caribbean
Hey grackle! I love your themed food vids esp the history ones and have learnt so much about food history! I think in a way you are a food historian, and giving knowledge to the people :) I am just finishing a degree in history now and have a terrible memory 😂😂 but it’s just about being open minded and seeing the big picture
Oseyo is a really cute name for a store. It means "please come" in a polite way. I recommend Maangchi if you want to do a kimchi recipe. Try a white/water kimchi, which is sweet and vinegary and refreshing. And short-grained sticky rice with Korean food! You long grain heathen!
Omg your soup reminded me that when I went to Japan and went on a Mount Fuji tour there were French tourists that were very alarmed at their miso soup moving like that but I reassured them it’s completely normal! 🍲
Hey Grace! I love your channel, and I've watched for quite a while. Could you think about extending the length your text is on the screen? I had to rewind 3 times to read your disclaimer. I love your quirky add-ins, but I just can't read them fast enough. Also, congrats on 300k!
You could have teokbokki or street foods and hotteok and basically sugar/taffy and rice cakes and other traditonal desserts that are usual hd with tea or on special occasions are sweet. Often rice based with a sort of sweet bean or bean powder or brown sugar depends on lots of things. A lot of their dessert stuff is either western modern things OR originally chinese or japanese like fish shaped bun fairy floss sorta stuff i mean one of their most famous and sorta cultural dishes is chinese black bean noodle and its like a traditon to have it when you move i believe i mightve mixed it up but its also tradition to hand out rice cakes (not the health food popped rice kind but the squishy mochi type kind) to neighbours etc when moving and also at new year
The thought of having rice for breakfast is soo fascinating to me! Like being British it just seems so strange so it's crazy to imagine that that is just the norm for so many! Though I know for sure I would enjoy rice and soy sauce for breakfast and any time of day as I absolutely just loovee rice and soy sauce and veggies! So simple but so good and satisfying 😍😍🤤👌🙌 it really does fascinate me so much seeing how different cultures and foods are all over the world! So interesting! 🙌💕 This has actually kind of inspired me to challenge myself and do something like this like just eating more unique and culturally diverse dishes for a whole day, especially for breakfast though (as I do eat quite a lot of Asian inspired meals and flavours daily) and I bet it would really get your day off to a good and fulfilling start! 😊🙌💕 But have got some really good ideas from this that I want to try myself and incorporate on a daily! Particularly the lettuce wraps I have seen them around a lot lately and had been really considering trying it so I guess this was another sign that I need to! Haha looks so good! 😍🤤 I just adore that crunch! 😍👌🙌
@@samuelm2989 true! Pretty much the same over here, we have rice pudding which people would usually have for dessert I guess but sometimes for breakfast!
Korean food is SO good. I lived in Korea for 2 years, and I miss the food so much.. we cant get it where we live. I think you would really like Om rice.. it's like an omelette, but with a korean fried rice in the centre and a creaky sauce on top 🤤
Hi Grace! As you're a baker, do you think you'll ever do a video of you baking French pastries such as croissants, pain au chocolat, etc? Love your videos, xoxo from France ✌️
Fruits are often eaten as a dessert type thing like jeju idk how to translate them but mandarins oranges? Lol and like DRIED PERSIMMONS omg they taste super weird but also addicting like a weird soft caramelly puree cinnamon idk so hard to explain ive never had anything like it haha. But yeah fruits! If you want some true korean meal ideas you could watch any korean cooking show and since most variety shows are people eating food or making it talking about it etc etc then it wont be hard to find like 3 meals a day springs to mind i love mountain village and it has park so dam (the daughter) from parasite. RU-vid would have a lot of clips if you got to kbs world channel they have eng subs and full eps of a lot of shows
