@@robertwilson7045 40 years ago, the chippy I worked in as a youth, the Haddock fillets came in half stone boxes and I'd cut them into ~2-4 portions or a 'special' which were the single smaller fillets, which is probably what Lee was served. The Icelandic Cod fillets came in and I'd cut them into 10+ thicker portions. Some Cod fillets came in a single 2stone box, so were much much thicker then the Haddock, but never looked as impressive as the Haddock.
Welcome to the MacMaster, world fish and chip tour! You are becoming renowned for your food reviews, renowned for not really knowing what you are on about.😅 I hear there are a couple of good fish and chip shops in northern Siberia, I would be keen to see you go and try them.🤔🙄 To stay true to your methodology, while in Cyprus you could walk around for a couple of hours looking at Cypriot restaurants, and then decide to eat in a mall food court.😂😉
That food looked really nice. It wasn't until the 17th Century that fried fish first made an appearance on British shores. It was actually brought over by Sephardic Jews from Portugal and Spain, who got the idea from a traditional food they knew and loved from their old homes, called pescadito frito.
Hi Lee, looks like you had a lucky find with the Olde English fish and chip shop. I rate it 8/10 which is a pretty good score. Yes, I loved fish and chips when I was in London. Bit of a hit or miss but when it was good you forget all your guilt about the batter. In fact, that's when you know the fish is great ! I like how you included other people in your video. Makes sense to ask their opinion and mix things up a bit, as they say. Looking forward to the next episode, Mr MacMaster !
Wow, those fish and chips looked amazing Lee. I loved the crunch to that batter too and the staff seemed so lovely and hospitable. Considering this is abroad, they've got that spot on. Many chippies here should watch this video and taje note. Definitely 10/10 all day long mate👌👌👍👍
Sad to see Paphos is STILL a building site. I say STILL as this has been ongoing for 2 years !?# I and friends used to love coming to Paphos but stopped due to the constant works going on. I live near Birmingham where the incompetent bankrupt council are still finishing the Metro after 7 YEARS !!! The last thing we want is to see more of the same when we go on holiday 😟🤔😱😠
Mister Macmaster! Lee fish & chips looked bob on mate !😊 who would have thought ya travelled hundreds of miles & found fish & chips like being in Mansfield 🎉 blue skies again...well almost 🌞☁️🎉
They were stunning looking fish n chips! That Haddock would have been a 'special' Haddock in the chippy i worked in as a youth, near Sheffield. Well done T&J! (and MacMaster)
The tradition of serving fish n chips with lemon (or vinegar in the poorer north of the UK) was to cut through the mouth-feel fat. Fish n chips were traditionally cooked in animal fats, which left your mouth coated in goo, due to the high melting point. Vinegar (or lemon juice if you're further south) would aid the digestion of that animak fat mouth coating. A hot cup of tea also did the same job, hence that tradition too. Today, fish n chips are cooked in vegetable shortenings which have a lower melting point then body temperature so dont actually require the acidic digestion assistance. (File that useless info and forget it!)
The only thing that shouldn't be anywhere near a Fish Supper is gravy. Other than that, have it how you like it. Great video, and that restaurant looks superb.
Well discovered, you are the Sherlock Holmes of the Fish and Chip shops Dave missed a perfect set up , “ it’s the best fish and chip shop IN THE WOOOOORRRLLLDDD” They looked lovely 👍👍👍 Take care and Onwards my friend ❤️👍👍
Good Evening Lee, You really such a very Lovely Gentleman, asking another patron of this Beautiful Fish and Chip Establishment, run by Thomas and Jonathan, i was over the moon when i heard you say my Name of another person. Jonathan is a very popular name to have, i really like my name Lee. This was The Best Fish & Chips in the World. That piece of Haddock was so mouth watering, The Chips were just Out of this World, The Mushy Peas were just the Best ever and The Curry Sauce in it's own Vessel was so Gorgeous. The Best Fish & Chip Establishment in CYPRUS!!!!!!!!. I will score this time of........ Establishment 10/10....... Atmosphere 12/10....... The Food 15/10...... This really was the Greatest Food review and a Superb video Lee my Friend.
Its Like UK with Sun :-) That's why we go regular.. Drive on same side and when in Paphos make sure you go into the indoor shopping center with the waterfalling down the glass and a £1 shop on top floor :-)
That fish n chips looks stunning it made me feel hungry loved the sandwich that was really nice shame I was eating marmalade on toast at the time.mmmmm
Those fish & chips looked fantastic. Far better than some of the crap I’ve bought in the U.K. - favouritism with the extra large piece of fish maybe LOL 😂. Looking forward to the local food stuff as well. I don’t get why people question you for trying fish & chips wherever you go. Some people collect train numbers or bus numbers, your the anorak of the fish & chip world 12/10
Hi Lee The place looks amazing, did you say where in Lancashire the owner came from? Regarding salt and vinegar I’ve turned proper American Ketchup on the chips and tartare sauce on the fish! Like you , I love chip butties however, you can’t get the same taste of bread in NJ. Take care
A nice vlog. As you are in Paphos, you might see various people on your travels wearing binoculars. They are birders (bird watchers!) and in the area to try and see migrant birds which are passing through. Paphos headland is a good spot.
Fish and chips look amazing I love them I could eat then every day lol and I've also got Ben shaws shandy bought 5 bottles on Sunday at home bargains anyway mate stay safe and thanks for another amazing video
I would also rate it 10/10. About £18. I pay £9.90 for takeaway cod and chips locally with no mushy peas, curry sauce, drink, or bread and butter. Plus, Lee was eating in a restaurant which costs more anyway, so it was all very good value. Why not go back tomorrow to try the dessert menu?
im going to cyprus and staying in paphos in the queens bay hotel this coming september, at 43 its my first time leaving the uk to go on holiday believe it or not lol.. mac im deffo going to go to this very same fish and chip shop...looked so scrumptious. i cant wait :) great video sir , subbed
Sorry to disappoint you but John Smiths is still brewed in Yorkshire unless Tadcaster has moved. CAMRA used to do badge that said "John Smiths is fowl" as their emblem was a chicken or rooster. They were right it's still foul
The Marquee bar in Pattaya do an excellent fish and chips meal with mushy peas s etc, iced water for 120tbht=£2,70 on Fridays and a Sunday roast for same 120 tbht too.
You should he in your element.😊 there menu looks good ,tou should of tryed there fish cake ,there the kind i always wanted to try. Yummo This place looks so clean and professional.
Rather scant range of fish, Cod and Haddock(seems I am wrong on Haddock by your meal) both rather greasy oily fish to my recollection. I much prefer our Australian 🇦🇺 choices of fish at Fish & Chip shops . I do realise you missed that oily Cod as a choice here, but to me Snapper, Flathead, Flake (shark), Hoki and so many more non oily/greasy fish varieties are preferred.
Fish heads and Lard! You bloody snob! When I was young in winter time......our family had to sit round a candle. If it got really cold.....my dad would light the candle. He also gave me an empty box one Christmas.....and told me it was....an action man deserter.
I’ll keep it short as I’m watching this at 3am in the morning feeling rather exhausted. Great looking fish & chips and a good ole chip butty for good measure. For me though leave the teabag in for a proper builders brew. Just add milk around it.
normally i watch you fill your face with fish and chips, and its mainly good , but this one was mouthwatering for some reason, i wasnt even hungry!!!😳🧐🤔
