For me it was a shiny Ho-Oh in HeartGold, I remember not knowing anything about shinys but when I saw it and the shiny sound effect I knew it definitely wasn't anything bugged, I went to my brother about it followed by a "HOLY SHIT CATCH IT IMMEDIATELY THATS SICKKK" I ended up catching it with a master ball out of fear and calling it "Flare" based on the Yu-Gi-Oh card "E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman" I still have it to this day.

My first shiny ever was a hoothoot i got in a fangame called "pokemon golden sky" it's a gen2 remade with gen3 graphics, i was a kid and that game was my first ever pokemon game, i remember that i was confused and went searching something related to the "yellow hoothoot"

My first Shiny was a Pidgey in an emulated copy of Leaf Green. I dont have the phone that was emulating it, but if i ever get said phone back im gonna find someway to move it to main series officially. Only reason i can 100% confirm it is that I actually had 2 blogs from my elementary school era (so mid 2010s) that showed my random nerd stuff and on the Pokemon one i had done a post (with improper grammar XD) showing the Eeveelutions and a normal and shiny Pidgey. I knew what a shiny Pokemon was but not how rare they were back then, ah the memories. Thats why when i got a shiny pidgey in Let's go Eevee 4+ years later i nicknamed it "Nostalgia" Because it just made sense Edit: another shiny story: I participated in this year's safari week and it was my first time shiny hunting in the safari zone. I used 1 console and was hunting in an area with Paras. I found a shiny Paras. I managed to catch it, and was super hyped. Then a few hours later i found another and caught it. Both had opposite genders and in Firered/LeafGreen shiny Paras has yellow mushrooms. Its so cool

I love to see stories like this one! As for myself, I've been playing Pokemon since kid too but never found a Shiny and never did shiny hunting, I wanted it to be a surprise. It was just a few months ago that I finally got my first shiny, Spoink on Pokemon Violet! I like Grumpig and I like it's shiny so I was really happy

I remember playing Pokémon Silver on my Gameboy Color. After getting my Red Gyarados and beating Blackthorn City I started heading south. I found a glitchy Donphan and beat it in two moves I think. Later did I realize that my GBC was not acting weird, it was a shiny Donphan and I had lost it. I never saw another shiny in my Silver again. I did see a shiny geodude that blew itself up in Crystal though…😫

This may not be my first ever shiny, but when I was a kid playing pokemon black, I randomly encountered a shiny female litwick. I knew this was something special so I caught it and even took her through the rest of the game. Eventually my cousin were over at my house and went behind my back, stealing my chandlure. When I opened my game she was gone and replaced by a Squirtle. I was sad, but I still used the Squirtle they left for me. Ever since it was something engraved into my mind. So when SV’s dlc part one came out I immediately had to shiny hunt for my beloved chandlure again. I was at the end of my sandwich, no shiny litwick in sight until I looked over to my left and see this tiny litwick looking up at me. I could tell right away it was a shiny and caught it. It was also a female!! Even better was she had a mark, I felt so happy having this long lost shiny back in my hands, I caught her in a love ball because it was kinda emotional reuniting with a long lost friend. Her mark the the sleepy mark and I decided to name her Visp.

My first shiny story isn't that cool, but it means a lot to me. I was 12 years old. I had recently gotten Pokemon Sword for my birthday. The only other pokemon game I had played was Pokemon Sun (and a TINY bit of Pokemon Ruby). I didn't know what shiny pokemon were, but I had heard people talk about them. Once I beat Pokemon Sword, and found out what shinies were, I wanted to shiny hunt one. I was NOT patient enough for a full odds hunt, and either way, the pokemon I wanted shiny was not obtainable in the wild. I wanted a shiny Grookey. I chose Grookey as my starter, so I already had a Rillaboom, but I needed someone to trade me a foreign ditto so I could do a Masuda Method hunt. I went on Surprise Trade and almost immediately got an Italian ditto. So I started hatching eggs. I was making good progress, hatching an egg every 10 seconds approximately. So I kept hatching, and kept hatching... This may not seem like much, but once I got to 436 eggs, I gave up. I told you I wasn't patient. I thought, "maybe shiny hunting isn't for me. I feel like I should have gotten it! Am I just unlucky...?" 2 months went by. At this point I was just playing other games like Earthbound and Super Mario RPG (I had an SNES Classic). Then, one day, I remembered my shiny grookey hunt. I was bored at the time and wanted something to do. So, I booted up Pokemon Sword and started hatching. Well not exactly, because when I hatched my first egg, a strange looking Grookey appeared. Then it sparkled. I had found it, the shiny I spent so long wanting, found under odds! (And I thought I was UNlucky...). I was so happy and I quickly evolved him into Rillaboom! I still have him to this day and although he can go to Paldea whenever he wants, he's staying in Galar for the time being. I like it better that way. :)

My first ever shinies were all hacked mons on pokemon X, it was until BDSP that I actually started my journey as a shiny hunter. Shiny Piplup was my first target and it took me 3 weeks since release. Must have been 2006-ish when I found my first shiny in Sapphire, it was a Voltorb. I was confused about why it was the wrong colour, so I caught it and showed my brother, who i'd been begging to give me his Entei. He explained it to me, and how rare they are, and offered me the Entei i'd been bothering him for weeks for, as well as a Raikou and Suicune. I accepted the trade and loved the Beasts. Since then i've kind of wanted to find another shiny Voltorb for the nostalgia. That said, I still have on my Leaf Green a shiny Exeggcute, Wurmple, and a couple others. Along the way i've had a shiny Bibarel run away from me in the Great Marsh on Diamond, and a Kangaskhan in the Leaf Green Safari Zone

My first shiny was a Tentacool in Pokémon Diamond and it was a fail. 8 year old me was surfing around Floroma Town and randomly encountered a shiny Tentacool. I didn't know what a shiny was at the time and ran away from it. Only then years later I looked up on the Internet to learn about shiny Pokémon and their rarity. I was upset and didn't run into shiny Tentacool again until Alpha Sapphire came out. I was in high school around that time and was surfing through Lilycove City then ran into a random shiny Tentacool. I like to think that this lost shiny swam through the oceans to reach me in Hoenn. I caught this one and named it "TheLostOne" and it's currently in my Scarlet save file. The 2nd shiny I found in Diamond was a Gloom and luckily I remember to catch it. Shiny Gloom was caught around 3 years after my shiny Tentacool fail in Diamond.

I have a vague memory that I didn't understand what the shiny stars meant the first time I encountered a shiny in silver and it must've been one with a pretty unremarkable coloring, so I either battled it or ran. The first shiny I caught though was Drowzee in silver. Pink Hypno looked pretty cool. That cartridge battery is long dead though.

Last year I was grinding for the Elite Four in Heart Gold. I was on Victory road training my Dragonair, falling asleep while playing. I was tapping the A button and opened my eyes to an Orange Donphan with low hp. I caught it and named it Orange. That was my first real shiny and I’ve been playing Pokemon since the Gameboy Color. Great video!

My first shiny ever was in leafgreen. In the patch of grass to the left of the top of the cerulean bridge. I was hanging out with my friend who I still play Pokémon with to this day 15+ years later. A golden caterpie appears, I check my bag, no pokeballs… we were both devastated.

The first ever shiny I found naturally was a Zebstrika in White version. I was astonished that shinies weren't event exclusives because I never found them in the wild. I caught it but because it had no EVs, it kept losing battles and I got so fed up with it, I traded it away on the GTS. I really regret that now and I want to find it again.

My first shiny was a Pikachu in Pokémon go back in 2018. I caught two on the same day. Then, in 2019, I abandoned Pokémon go, and with it, my shiny Pikachus. This year, I decided to try playing Pokémon go again. I barely remembered my old password, and I thought my shinies were gone. Yet, somehow, I was able to get back into my old account and find those shinies I had caught 5 years ago. I transferred them to Pokémon Violet through Pokémon home, evolved them into Raichus and got them all the way up to level 100. Some other shinies I’m proud of are my shiny treecko that I SR’d in Pokémon emerald for, and my full odds shiny Tentacruel I caught while grinding in Crystal. Over the years, I have gotten more into shiny hunting and am currently trying to hatch a shiny drowzee in Crystal.

i don't even remember my first shiny to be honest. not at all. but judging by the shiny barbaracle named "FIRST SHINY!!!!!" in my ultra sun boxes, i think it's clear what it was. my first shiny i remember catching was in 2021, and was also in ultra sun. i had around 8 other shinies that i don't remember catching in my boxes though. the shiny specifically i caught was a swellow, which i named "shiny birb". as for the shiny barbaracle, i don't want to lose it, so it's safely stored away in my home boxes currently. i also might as well go over some other shinies that are special to me, while i'm at it. my first shiny in scarlet/violet was full odds, i didn't even have the shiny charm at that point. it was a shiny glimmora, caught at the bottom of area zero. that glimmora was named "WHAT" for a while, but i renamed it to kirakira a few months ago. for perhaps my craziest shiny story, i was going to a tera raid north of medali, which was blocked by a horde of sudowoodo. i accidentally ran into one of the sudowoodo. it actually wasn't a sudowoodo. it was a zorua. _a shiny zorua._ i panicked and immediatly threw my master ball at it, and currently that zorua, now zoroark, is named violet. i don't know what it is with me and my luck with full-odds shinies... the story behind probably one of my favorite shinies isn't actually that interesting. i was playing through teal mask, and a random full-odds shiny yanma spawned above the crystal pool. of course, i caught it, and i named it "HOW". currently, though, she's called miko! she's such a silly little yanmega.

My first shiny was a shiny magnemite that I found in sea mauville in pokemon Sapphire. I transferred it up to my platinum version to evolve it into magezone. Then to my soulsilver for my run of the game. After that my soulsilver ended up in the washing machine. I just reclaimed it a few months ago in the same Sapphire I found it in before.

My first shiny was in Pearl, a Medicham on Victory road right between the last bridge and the door leading to the waterfall before the elite 4. I was at a friends house, this blue dude shows up and i remember asking them what happened because id never heard of or seen a shiny before... he got very loud and excited then teied to help me catch it, to which i told him i didnt have any pokeballs on me... so Medicham has eluded me, to this day i carry 25 of each ball always by the Elite 4 lmao im not even sure why i was running up and down that bridge that day, must have been grinding levels or something but the first shint to first failed shiny stuck deep

I didn’t know the value of shiny Pokémon either back when I first played Pokemon. I even left behind a sponik I saw sparkle back when I first played OR back in 2015. But then I saw a video about shiny hunting and i got interested in shiny hunting right away. I’ve been a shiny hunter since 2017, I failed my first shiny in Heartgold but reclaimed shiny Lugia in SoulSliver. Since then, I’ve gotten more prepared for these hunts. With weaken the pokemon with super fang, neutral moves that wouldn’t knock it out right away and it also depends on the Pokémon’s spk atk and atk

The only full-odds shiny story i have is from my copy of Pokemon Ruby which I've had since launch day. I never bothered trying to shiny hunt, but i DID do my damnedest to complete the pokedex on my Ruby copy as, to this day, it's probably the version of Pokemon I've put the most time in. Now, of course i got to the point where i had to start searching for the really obscure Pokemon, the worst of which obviously being Feebas. I spent so long looking for that stupid fish that, eventually, i actually found a shiny Carvanha. I was stoked, and eventually when SoulSilver came out, i unlocked the pal Park and he's still in my copy of SoulSilver to this day. Soon i plan on finishing Pokemon White 2 so i can port him to later games or at least into Home

My first shiny Pokémon was a full odds Jynx in Frost Cavern in Pokémon X. On the other hand, the only shiny I've ever failed was a shiny Ralts in Alpha Sapphire. In 2014, I was using the DexNav to find one with a cool egg move but encountered a shiny instead. It was a higher level than the rest of my team so it proceeded to knock out all of my Pokémon until I had one remaining and then used Teleport. I stopped playing the game for about a week after that. It wasn't until recently that I began playing Omega Ruby and decided I would try to hunt my lost shiny. After about 1200 DexNav encounters, I finally reclaimed it almost 10 years later. 🙂

spam saving is useful. sometimes in the gen 4 games you have to spam or else youll go back to previous save. whenever it says "saving a lot of data" in diamond pearl or platinum. you NEED ti save again. until you dint get the saving alot if data message

I had a Pokémon X file, and I traded over some of my favourite shinies I spent ages hunting. Sadly my game card got corrupted and I lost my favourite shinies, including my first ever shiny. I lost a Linoone (my first ever shiny), an Absol, a Ponyta, a Tentacool and a Luvdisc. The last 2 were replaced quickly, but losing the others still makes me sad even now

For me that Shiny was a Shiny Skorupi. I hunted it endlessly on Pokémon Y and transferred it over to my Alpha Sapphire before I resetted Y. After a while, I realized that Skorupi could also be found in Alpha Sapphire via de Dexnav. After I reset Pokémon Y, I decided to hunt it again and got it a second time (transferred it over to Alpha Sapphire as well). I had two successful hunts for Shiny Skoropi on both games. Caught my fourth one after I realized that I screwed up my first Shiny Drapion's stats. I know I can trade it away but I just can't bring myself to do it u.u Also, Gen 6 was when I started Shiny Hunting :) Edit: I remember finding a Shiny Hariyama in Victory Road when playing Pokémon Emerald but it used Whirlwind before I could do anything. Still haven't reclaimed it :c

I've only caught two legitimate shinies. My first shiny was a Tentacool in Leaf Green, route 19, surfing around to see if I could complete the dex. I was only 11 at the time so I didn't even know what a shiny was so I just caught it thinking it had something to do with the plot lol, it was after I've finished the main story and post story too so I was tryingg to find something to do lmao. The next one was Oddish in Pokemon Emerald route 119, I was in a hurry because almost all my pokemon were fainted and accidentally stepped into the tall grass, but lo and behold! There was a shiny oddish, and so I caught it with the one great ball I had. Good times

i never did shiny hunting as a little kid but i learned what it was when i was like 12 and i caught a shiny dragalge through chain fishing and i remember being so proud of myself :’)

My first shiny was in Diamond on route 1...a Bidoof. I wasn't thrilled it was a bidoof, but oh well a shiny! My next was an oddish in fire red, which I think looks really cool! Then I remember in Diamond lowering the odds with the moving patches of grass and I found a Farfetch'd. My last was a shiny Zangoose in Omega Ruby. I haven't found any in the newer games yet, although I apparently encountered a shiny in Sword as it says I did...I must have been trying to fill the pokedex and was just running away a lot and missed it.

First shiny was technically a zubat in a rented crystal. But actual first shiny was steelix in Diamond. Sadly, that save got corrupted and ha to reset the game to actually play the game. lost that shiny and many of my original legendaries from gen 3. Got a shiny mantyke on the next playthrough and still have it in ultra moon. also got another shiny steelix later on in legends arceus along with a shiny alpha ralts that broke my shiny drought of over a decade.

I found a shiny Zubat like, 18-19 years ago on Pokemon Ruby, it was in Granite Cave, had no poke balls though, so my first, not the shiny Lake of Rage Gyarados from GSC was an absolute failure

Gosh.. Each time I watch video's about pokemon from the past I remember my own first two shinies.. Well my first legit two shinies, my first two were hacked by my cousin which I appreciated as a kid but it made me think it messed up my game (Pokemon Diamond) a bit so a few months later when I encountered a full odds shiny Venomoth.. I killed it because I thought it was hacked in.. As for my second legit shiny, it was a new playthrough of Pokemon Soul Silver and I found a shiny Bellsprout in my first playthrough (i think it was the second route even) but my game kept crashing when I reached the park area and I had to return the game, including my shiny, to Nintendo cuz I couldn't keep it safe or trade with anyone.. May they rest in peace. Thankfully there would be many more shinies for me along with my quest to find my lost shinies thanks to Scarlet and Violet.

I have a memory of encountering a shiny Abra in the grass in ORAS from whatever the chain method was after only a 2 chain. I thought I’d caught it, but it is nowhere to be found in my pokemon bank. I did go through a massive purge (sadly) of my childhood pokemon when I was a teenager because I thought my nicknaming skills were cringy 😢 so it may have been a part of that, but I still have almost all of my other original ORAS pokemon so perhaps I was so scarred from it teleporting away that I wiped it from memory LOL anyways I “reclaimed” it in Arceus, but I’m debating also going back and getting it on my original ORAS copy to properly reclaim it

In two different save files on the Sevii Islands (in LeafGreen) I found shiny unknown S and a shiny Machop

My first shiny was a sandshrew that I found in the desert in Sapphire when I was 7. My brother ended up confiscating it because the cartridge I had my save on was his. We ended up moving and we somehow lost the GBA I played on along with the sapphire cartridge as well as the leafgreen cartridge my shiny was sent to. On top of this we also lost a bunch of other GBA games and our Xbox.

First shiny was a spinarak in silver lol I didn't noticed until I tried training it and it sparkled when it came out. Back then I called it a pink spinarak because red gyarados 😅 most recent shiny was 2 pidgey 73 encounters apart. I was spd ev training at 16x speed in fired red for a nuzlock link challenge

When I started ultra sun I was at a cave where fossils spawned on melemele island and I actually found a full odds shiny Omanyte I never finished the game and to this day that shiny omanyte is till there

I accidentally killed my first shiny. It was a zubat in Platinum and i should have thrown balls at it but attacked instead. You may have inspired me to try for a reclaim. If I use level 2 of Oreburgh tunnel instead of the initial level where I found it the first time, it’s 60 percent Zubat so maybe ill get lucky. Repel trick will work too as the highest geodude are level 9 leaving me between zubat and psyduck

i remember my cousin 1st erver shiny it happen a long time ago in pokemon black/white i lost the game btw so i can never get it back but anways back to the story we was both playing though the game also i am the only one who still plays he quit after gen 5 for good and we reatch the town cyantia was in and he put his rod in the water to fish and this was b4 i ever even knew getting all the pokemon would get you a shiny charm as well btw and as soon as he got a bit i am not kidding you he fish out a shiny shelder at full odds with out charm 1/8192 chance i was shock because he did not know what shinys was but i did not that i shiny hunted i just play for fun and saw people online call them shiny pokemon but after i show him a picature of a shiny he was also slocked and he did caught it i think it was also on my save if i remember right so ya my 1st shiny i got myshelf was a shiny cutefly in ultra sun and moon i was raceing a twitch streamer to see who could find shinys 1st and was sosing mons but hit run b4 i found a shiny only to run into 1 the shiny cutefly right after and ever sence i been cruse with finding them shiny because in shield i was doing a wonderlocke and found a 1/4096 odds shiny roombee then in part 1 of gen 9 dlc i found a cutefly again as my 1st dlc shiny

My first shiny was a random shiny staravia in platinum. I was looking for a female eevee so I could get all the Eeveelutions. I found one but unfortunately ( maybe fortunately), I fainted a female eevee and couldn't find another in the trophy garden. But I guess it's nice because I kept searching and found a shiny staravia. I screamed so loud and was very careful to catch it. After I did so. My ds went in the red and I had to quickly save it until I got home. (I was at school) Now that same pokemon is a shiny staraptior in Violet.

i have 2 shinies very special to me 1. shiny azumarill 2. shiny alolan exeggutor Azurmarill is my top favorite because it was the first Pokémon i was obssesed with and i just love it! although ive never used an exeggutor let alone an exeggcute its coming back in the indigo disk i dont know why i love it so much i think its the fact that it just suits me has a perfect shiny and doesnt change much in its regional form so yeah thats my story!

Trying to help my dad understand why I love Pokemon I made him a profile and started a new save for Pokemon Sword; once freed from tutorial hell called "You're new here's how you do this and here's where you go next." On route 2 to Magnolia's house he was being stalked by the Yamper when he ran into a shiny Chewtle... and because he didn't let me buy another Nintendo account for his account when he lost interest (he's was 67) I couldn't just move it to Pokemon Home and so after fiddling around with it he deleted it right in front of me! TL;DR: Tried getting my dad to understand why I liked Pokemon and he ended up catching a shiny Chewtle...that couldn't be moved into Pokemon Home before getting bored and deleting his profile

When i was seven i found a shiny zubat in pokemon ultra sun i successfully caught it but.. i lost the game cartridge and i transported half of my pokemon x mons to the ultra sun copy. Biggest regret in my life. This Zubat was also my first shiny

Hey, I'd greatly appreciate if someone would be able to help me out on a story like this. I had my first shiny back in Pokemon X, it was a Kakuna evolved into a Beedrill. I wanted to transfer it to ORAS without using Bank, by putting a Wurmple on the gts from oras and asking fora beedrill. Instead my dumbass put up the shiny beedrill and asked for a wurmple, and I lost it. I have a hacked 3ds and that save file, is there any way to recover that pokemon from caught data or something? It unfortunately wasn't in a hall of fame team.

this video is really sweet ( ´ ▽ ` ) i love hearing people's pokémon memories. the shiny of mine with the most unique story might be my 1/4096 shiny alolan exeggutor in sun, which i caught on a car ride to a parent-teacher conference when i was... 10, i think? i was super excited, even though my parents didn't understand. that exeggutor still lives on my original sun file!! as for the saving question: i'm *still* a save spammer! i blame my ocd. can't risk losing a shiny because i didn't save at least twice ^^
