Just came to watch this cause I bought my girlfriend a Nintendo switch for our one year. And the beggining reminds me of her reaction this morning. The new switch actually has a brighter screen and the color temperature is actually closer to perfect. The original switch's screen was dimmer and had a slightly blue tint to the color temp. The new one is also better suited to outside play in direct sunlight being brighter. The original was around 2500 nits on the brightness scale, where as the new one is much closer to about 3200 nits which is where most cell phones have their brightness set at. Any device you are going to use outside they suggest it to be anything 3200 and over. So yeah, they actually did more then just change the processor and extend the battery life.

Tamara Girodie fair enough. I got my switch last October so I really hope they don’t start to drift after this “period” where Nintendo is willing to fix them for free. I already had to send my switch console in for slight warping and the bottom part of the screen coming out of the body.

The old joycons were matte when unboxed and they've lost their matte-ness with wear.(realized this when I bought a new pair of joycons last year)

Bruh, you can buy metal replacements for the joycon lock on the side. To replace those cheap plastic latches, tools includeded. Really cheap on Amazon, with spare joysticks too. @beatemups

keep in mind however that because the rest is still plastic it could be risky if you drop your switch so if you're klutzy prob not a good idea

You do understand the plastic locks are designed to be damaged when you drop the switch. If you end up making them metal, you may end up breaking something else on the switch if you drop it on the joy cons. Like the rail would take the full force of the hot.

I barely play my switch in handheld so for me this is definitely not worth the upgrade. I will hold out until next year or in 2021 when the Switch Pro hits the market.

@Uqpaa Handy There's always updated hardware mid-cycle, but there's no reason for it to come out this year. Always launches with Zelda title so expect it whenever BotW2 comes out.

@@clark2109 there isn't always a mid-cycle upgrade. The NES didn't have one, the SNES didn't have one, neither did the N64 or GameCube, nor the Wii or Wii U. The only consoles that have are the GameBoy lines and 3/DS lines

Wolf Lykaios I don’t own the new one but according to Nintendo 1) it will be slightly faster but not enough to be noticeable, less then a second faster 2) yes the only thing that has been changed is the chips the outside of the switch looks identical and all current accessories will work. This switch isn’t really something you’d upgrade to more of if you don’t already have a switch this one is slightly better.

Instead of a tripod in front of your face, you can buy a tripod that has an overhead rig, a lot of the manfrotto ones have it built in. They over extend the camera 1 and it can be set up behind it so it's not on camera.

Theoretically you could do the same from your new switch to the old one and check yes on that option and it will retransfer back to your old switch and stay on the new one
