Even us New Yorkers can’t afford NY rents 😂😂 it’s sad it’s new money buying up real estate that has to pay their loan so the rents have skyrocketed!!! Old money and a lot of “the old timers” are gone now, this is the new New York with new money.

Unit #1: For $7,000/month you get several flights of stairs to walk up, a very small kitchen and a very, very small living area, miniscule closets and a cramped bathroom to share. Yes, there is laundry, and a rooftop deck to retreat to when you run out of air in that small apartment. Unit #2 is apparently a two bedroom, and since one of the rooms is for vampires it should list for a much lower price. I'll reserve judgment on the two unfinished ones, but the $9,000 alleged 4-bedroom apartment may only have two legal bedrooms. One in the cellar has no window (a clear violation) and the other's "window" is accessed by a grate in the outside deck, probably not an adequate egress. Aren't there any inspectors for these places? (BTW, those mysterious units in the closets are your heat/hot water boilers, so you're paying for that.) The apartments that Charles showed us have reasonable kitchens and overall much more square footage. They're pricey, and I wouldn't pay that much for a sixth-floor walkup, but they are better apartments otherwise - excluding the possibility of damage to slammed appliance doors.
@jacksonmorganfroghin4815
@jacksonmorganfroghin4815 2 года назад
That windowless room may save your life in the event of a drive -by. Solution: Just install a outdoor camera that would give you a "window" to those fly by night gangsters. Eventually cars won't even have windows. Just cameras and monitors that deliver a reasonable facsimile of reality. Power goes out? Oh well, that's life in the big city. Another exciting video from Cash. I await them like I used to await the release of a new Beatles album. Why is that?

Born and raised in NYC/Brooklyn from 1940-1966. Owners of these buildings were mom and pop investors - rents were very low - and they kept the apartment buildings clean. The landlord actually came out to ur apartment to collect the rent. Today, the RICH own us - and they could dice-up a 2 bedroom into a mini-4-bedroom and charge $$$$$$$$$$$$$. They're very connected - that's why they call a windowless room a bedroom. My downstairs bedroom is 11'x12'. CASH calls this size bedroom "a good size." I call my downstairs bedroom "SMALL." Those mini-kitchens where there's no room for a table - what the heck!!!!

Cash, the weird mechanical unit in the closets are combi boilers, or tankless water heaters as I believe they are called in the states. They are far more energy efficient than the massive water heaters that are typical in the States. Normally, in the UK, they are a lot tidier than that, in face one of those seemed to have the piping spread out far more than neccessary, and they are usually boxed in. Most people have them in their kitchens in the UK. They give hot water on demand and are great if you have roommates or a large family because everyone can shower without running out of hot water. I have no idea why they've taken so long to become more mainstream in the States. Nearly every where I've lived in the UK for the last 23 years has had one.
@SuzanneWho
@SuzanneWho 2 года назад
Xzavier: We’re starting to see tankless heaters gain popularity but industry is still touting the old tank water heaters. Also, what they charge for installation is usually pretty high considering the basic simplicity of installation. Europe and Asia are ahead of us on efficiency and quality. A similar situation is our RV industries - lousy construction, cheap materials, poor design etc.

Like court yards and the 5th one I believe had a spiral staircase which I love but Charles'court yard was a smidge better although smaller.than the other. Charles court yard I would take that door off and put a top to bottom Picaso "painting" out of broken glass and China..just sayin ☺. All around good one guys! You both have a fantastic day! Thanks again!

I definitely liked the two Charles Munroe apartments the best. The kitchen in the first of his two was better because it had a gas range rather than electric (do you make anything besides coffee?). Re: the "four bedroom" apartment, can that one room legally be a "bedroom" with no windows? I'd be afraid to use that room for anything but storage. I'd also imagine that the pricier apartments with more bedrooms would be harder to rent out because you either have to line up enough people who can pay or make enough money to live there...and if you made that kind of money, you'd probably be looking to buy a place rather than rent.

Okay that 4 bed 2 bath for $8,995 rent. Divide that into 4 week weekly salary which would be $2,248.75. Hourly you would have to make $56.21. My common sense is trying to rap my brain as to how many people make this hourly wage? Even coming out of college or a university, "Not many people make this an hour or monthly! So your paying this rent for a year and giving the landlord $107.940.00 a year to rent and apartment that is smaller than a home? Let's just say you stay in this apartment for 5 years. You just gave the landlord $539.700.00 for 5 years of a rental? This does not include the electricity monthly and No private parking for a excessive rental price? You state and in your own words, "this has a legit backyard, awsome bedrooms, dishwasher, standard stuff, high ceilings, narrow whining staircase, pretty sweet basement, toilet that refills itself, a room without windows, clean building, a grate outside your bedroom window", and right outside grand street? What a great location for a mere $107,940.00 a years rent? Am I the only one that sees this as being so wrong? I lived in New York City for about 23 years. Uptown Manhattan, Midtown, Queens, and Brooklyn. NYC is always my home and the restaurants, things to do, and parks are great when you are living there. Seriously there is more to life out there and you will never experience this until you actually take the leap of faith and venture into the world. Life should not be rent, restaurants, and so called convinces that are not even that realistic. Rent, food, and transportation should not take more than 60% to 70% of your weekly or bi-weekly wages. This is not living. Life goes fast and when you look at your past you will realize you have been paying for a box that in the end, "you do not even own" and in the end as you get older, you will realize you cannot afford the ever rising prices of rents and you will be looking for another more convenient and affordable place to stay unless you are will willing to live in a senior living home. Take your money and invest in your futures and travel everywhere. My parents lived in the same apartment in the upper west side. They never purchased a home or an apartment. Once they retired in their mid 60's they purchased a home in another state and they were able to enjoy it for 1 year and my Mother passed away. During that one year my Mother told me she never knew how wonderful and peaceful it was to have your own home and having your own backyard. She was finally in peace. One year later she passed away. My parents throughout all the years they went up 4 flights of stairs. All the snowstorms, many of the blackouts during some of the summers, and year after year the noise, bothersome neighbors year after year. The crime rates and public transportation stories since the 1966 until 2020. My father finally realized that the NYC always was his city but it came at a cost. He wishes he would of seen that years ago. So in short, live life and if you feel like renting is your life long goals, "Much respect and would never tell you to do otherwise" but to pay $2000+ for a rental is not acceptable or realistic. If the landlords and owners of these buildings are paying too much on yearly taxes and whatever insurances they pay, "They need to do something to change this laws and stop making renters pay these hefty prices" well Thank you for reading my rant and I am sorry I wrote all of this but it bothered me to see these rents and in Cash own words in many of his own videos where even he is saying he can't afford some of these rents when he is a professional and I assume he makes great money from these videos and his own rentals. I wish Cash and his beautiful family the best of luck and Thank You for all your videos and Please continue your passion for what you do. Appreciate everyone's time and I do apologize beforehand if I have grammatically not written this rant corrctly. Thank You. Mr. C.

The boxes in the closet with the pipes are European water heaters, it’s more efficient than keeping a tank full of water and constantly reheating it, instead it’s able to sense that you want hot water, and it will almost instantly heat up the water running through it. Plus it’s safer since it won’t blow a gasket and flood your apartment after 10-15 years.
