I don’t know what’s more beautiful about you and your videos… your pure heart or your blundering through your projects on pure hope. Keep it up. I love it!
Love your videos Alex but please take care of yourself. Use goggles, gloves and dust masks for all your awesome projects. You’ll thank yourself later! Can’t wait to see what you do next!
I hope Alex sees this! He's new to DIY and I don't want his wonderful enthusiasm to get in the way of helpful little safety steps like goggles, gloves, and dust masks!
Safety equipm😂nt can save your life!! Breathing in sanding dust and fumes from chemicals will catch up with you even if you think it doesn’t bother you, it builds up!
Absolutely! So many great od pieces of furniture and other things have lead in paint. A testing kit, good 3M mask and gloves are an absolute must! We are cheering him on. I wouldn't mind helping out if he got an Amazon wish list. ❤
You have to be very careful with picking up curbside furniture. Check it thoroughly that it does not have Bed Bugs, Roaches, or Fleas. Leave it in your garage for a few days.
And when it's in your garage/shed for a couple days make sure to check on it in the middle of the night a couple times, it could look fine during the day but at night the critters come out. Had a used dishwasher I wanted to install, looked great, I was excited. Nope, at night the hundreds of tiny German cockroaches it was infested with scattered everywhere when we turned the lights on. Back to the curb 😫
Perhaps cover n seal it with plastic you "might " smother some of the critters. I would definitely pour hot water over things because I gave been told that might kill bedbugs, the heat. LICE YEAH , that was the one besides baby mice or big mice.
same and another thing I think he’s super oblivious, too is WHY they got rid of the furniture he needs to watch out for possible bed bugs because it’ll be an absolute nightmare for his parents who are clearly elderly to have to start over but also a few things irritated me NONE of it matches ( yes I know he tried ) but his mother looks disappointed like almost as if to say ( where is our original furniture ) but then had to throw on a smile because she knew he was recording …
@@BentBeautyy Yup, I've watched too many trading spaces episodes. Wish he would ask for a hand to help rather than try to flip all by himself for the reveal. He also doesn't need to hug is folks if they're not a hugging fam 👍 sometimes a reveal is better if the cam is off to the side and not in their face.
Some areas don't have a great Facebook Marketplace due to being rural/low income and sometimes big cities are difficult too because everyone gets to the free items so quick! His method worked great (: Great video I'm so happy to subscribe!
I have sanding tips as a newbie furniture refinisher! First, try to use a paint stripper so if the finish is thick it won't take so long. Two, put the sander on the table THEN turn it on. Three, try to be slow and systematic, hold the sander in place for a few moments and then move forward, do it in rows and overlap the rows by 50%. Lastly, seal it after sanding so the wood doesn't get ruined with water. If you go back and do it in hindsight, take a pencil and very lightly scribble all over it and sand it with a really high grit until the pencil is gone (that's literally all it needs to reprime the wood and it won't remove the stain), remove dust with the big boy vacuum and seal immediately :D
I don’t even know this guy, it’s the second video I have seen from him and yet I am out here crying because of how wholesome the last 2 mins of this video are. God bless you and your family❤
I just love your Can-Do attitude. It is so different working to improve your space without any money. For years I created room decor with cardboard, glue, and fabric from whatever source that I could find. It was a creative journey that really gave me the confidence to battle through when others broke. Great job!
“This isn’t a chair. This is a throwwn!” I do so love and admire your indomitable spirit, you darling young man! You are a wonderful son, and any parent would be proud to call you their own. Count me as a new subscriber, luv! 🩷
from someone afraid to try new things because I was never given a safe space to fail as a kid, it really gives me confidence to see you go head-first into new things and wake up with renewed confidence to try again after things go wrong. please don't stop sharing these moments!
PLEASE don't stop making videos!!!! You are definitely one of the best people to watch on RU-vid. I absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm & the love you show to your parents. So wholesome & heartwarming! Much respect from East Texas 💖💖💖
This is how friends of ours furnished their living room. They went to the expensive neighborhoods and got free furniture. I mostly furnished mine the same way with free stuff and yard sale items. Nothing matched but I did not care. You did a great job!! ❤️ I am 59 and still buy at thrift stores and yard sales. My husband brings home free stuff too. The only things I have that I bought new is two recliners!! 🌟
Currently doing the same thing, trying to furnish my house for free for my parents. The world needs to see more of these types of things, it shows not only reality, but that one can have a nice cosy home on a budget. Nice one!
The end made me tear up... In a happy way though! I love your videos and the love you put into them. Each ending of your videos make me feel more appreciated of my life. Not only that you do this for your parents is just beautiful. Plus, you are very humble and kind all around. I love seeing these videos as I get reminded of just how many people like you are out there .Just good vibes all around here . Keep this up man! You don't know how much your videos are impacting people, even if they dont comment or not many people watch them. Great videos all together and all so wholesome with messages made with love!
The love between you and your parents literally brings tears to my eyes. What a beautiful family! Also - great video! Your writing and editing skills are truly impressive.
one of the more realistic cleaning videos on yt! ive been trying to clean my house today and admittedly... shit takes a looong time. even trying to clean one single room has taken me 2 days so far and it might be a third.
More videos?? You are an amazing young man! Everyone’s comments are right on. About you!! It made my evening! It’s not about money$ it’s about what you can do, being creative and hard working to make things the best we can!! I would live a son like you . Unfortunately we never had children .
Brilliant! I was inspired to look around my house and take note of what I got free... Literally, EVERY SINGLE piece of furniture I own, I found in the street, was gifted, inherited or traded. Every single piece. And, I’m a designer, so my house is beautiful 🤩 Highly recommend what you’re doing! I bet your parents were very happy 💕
I love your videos so much! But now I'm really worried about your lungs. Please be careful and wear a mask when sanding and painting. You only get one set of lungs.
I really enjoyed this video! I was so pleased when I saw that you had a new one up. Somehow your house makeover project showed up in my feed a month or so ago and I binged the whole thing. Keep them coming 🙂🏡
I LOVE this! Your parents are clearly supportive of your projects and your family’s love and support for one another is absolutely abundant! ❤ I need more of these projects with a more in depth family aspect! ❤❤❤
You are the sweetest son ever, your adorable, couldnt ask more of a son, to think about your parents first, I’m sure they are well deserving of this beautiful new furniture you redone with your own time and sweat , and cleaning and surprising them, made me cry. Too bad there is not more sons around like you. I have a couple of sons and a daughter I’m so proud of, I thank God every day for them and their wonderful families they let me be part of. I loved your video. You could do this , and sell your new pieces , make lots of money. Jut look on you tube, one girl give up her teaching job and does fantastic, better than teaching, I’m sure she loved Teaching, but she loves what she does, and have been able to pay off all her school loans, it’s very interesting story. God bless You and your wonderful family.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀😀🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍👍
AHHHHHHHHH! I stumbled upon your video this morning and smiled, laughed, and maybe a tear came down my face. I loved doing things for my parents too. Sometimes things didn't come out like I hoped, but they never judged me, just loved me. You're an amazing person, and I'm a fan! Can't wait to see what you do next. Sharing your channel with my family and friends.
I'm so glad you only found that dark green paint 😂 looks so much better than red ❤😅. Please go on making such videos it helps me so much when I'm struggling with imperfections and goals I have I don't trust myself to reach
Hey Alex.. Greetings from Sri Lanka.I'm very impressed that you do all these things for your parents.. You will be famous soon.. here are some suggestions for you. There are many videos on RU-vid about makeovers, may be you could learn some new tricks to make old things look good without spending much. I really appreciate your originality and your true passion for what you are doing. Hope you'll be successful in everything you do.. Wish you all the best!!!🎉
This looks so beautiful, idk whats even more beautiful, the pure connection between you and your parents or the fact that you went out of your way just to make them happy. Enjoy your new living room!
i just found you on my feed last night i have to say i just love your energy and kindness. you are clearly so caring of your family and its very sweet you do all these things for both you and your parents to enjoy.
Not everything has to be done perfectly but even a quick google of something you're not 100% sure of will save you time and aggrevation eg: "how to paint laminate" furniture (hint: needs minor scuffing, tack cloth or wipe down and a a primer coat can help.) or "how to refinish a solid wood table" (dashner design uses a scraper, transcend uses stripper both use a finishing coat on top of a stain for longevity) "how to refinish veneer." or "how to score free furniture" or "how to restore leather" Research shouldn't be intimidating. It should equip you with a plan for the best chance of success and not cost you time and effort when things don't turn out (like the red paint). And like everyone else said, safety goggles, gloves and an n95 are pretty cheap and information on the internet is free.
I couldn't agree more with what you wrote. I'm a clumsy person myself but a bit of research prevents you from a lot of failure and sets you up for success so you don't end up investing more than you should at the end.
Alex, you are so cool. It brings me so much joy and motivation to watch your videos. I watch them the second I see them uploaded! Take care of yourself and keep improving things a little bit at a time. You will look back on it all one day and be amazed at everything you’ve accomplished. 🙌👏💪
I love watching your channel. I found you because I was trying to do my own home improvements, completely alone with no help and no idea what I was doing. I've finished now, but I still enjoy your channel. You gave me hope before and inspiration. Now I am happy to watch you as I find you to be a wonderful person. Bless you and your parents for raising such a wonderful son 💖🙏 I hope your channel grows and you find success and happiness in life
I was cheering for you when you got the chair through the doorframe! 😂 I also love how supportive your parents are, I feel like my parents would get upset if I redid anything in their house without telling them 😆
What a beautiful soul you are ...how proud you're parents must be ❤ new subscriber here from a lady in her 60's ...how very refreshing to see such genuinely kind behaviour
I don't know what it is about your videos, but every time I watch one I feel like I could watch like 10 more. I guess it's because you're showing a real side of life that the majority of people watching live. Can't wait for more videos!
I can't get enough for your videos! Your positive mindset and your determination mixed with your friendly personality is sending me. You need to make more videos please!!
I love watching your videos. I love that you show your home that most all Americans can relate to and not some super pretentious million dollar home. I also love that show yourself doing things that you’re not an expert on, but you put time and effort into figuring it out and even ask your Dad for help which I’m sure makes his heart happy. I love your content and I really hope you continue making more videos and I hope hope you grow your channel because you absolutely deserve it!
Awe! I love you and your channel. You’re just keeping it real. I love how you were vulnerable with us every step of the way and you said you just wanted to impress your parents. I had a moment like that today too. It’s good to know we aren’t alone. I hope you get as many followers as you deserve. You’re awesome.
Anyone who’s refurbished furniture knows how difficult the first projects you do are. Good job, the hard work paid off! Congrats on the new sub milestone. Excited for the next video!
Sweet family that is why you are such a sweet and genuine soul. Looking forward to seeing other videos. I agree with the comment on using safety equipment when working on projects.
You can absolute get everything for free! We are renovating a house and the clients want to trash a $4,000 lounge desk, we suggested they post it to craigslist! We got our couch for free. Giant legos! A drumset! Cabinets! Just be open and make space in your house and it will come!
oh my gosh, i only stumbled onto this video. but i'm subscribing now! you put so much hard work into it, i could feel the love and perseverance. Looks fantastic! great job!!!
and p.s a video idea of a similar theme, doing a Marie Kondo or "Swedish Death Clean". They're pretty cool concepts and I feel you'd portray them in a really wholesome way. Plus always a good title/tag for the algorithm. :)
I love your attitude. You think of something you want to do, and you go for it. and look at everything you have achieved! I'm amazed! also loved the gardening video you did a while back.
If you like, you can go to DOLLAR TREE and get some fold out cloth drawers for that cabinet. It might make it look less cluttered. But you did a wonderful job. Your parents are lucky to have you.
I admire your tenacity! You did an amazing job! In the old days, I did this with my Children. I furnished our entire house by "Junking"...That's what I called it back then. Dishes also. I and Your Parents are the same Generation. I do enjoy refinishing furniture and watching creative Videos. My first time here but I am excited to see more of yours! Congratulations Young Man. The Photos is so Beautiful also. God Bless You and Your Family. I am Proud to Subscribe😉!
I love this video and your channel. Your recording is done in a really simple way that's endearing. We get to see your authenticity, which is a beautiful thing. What a very thoughtful surprise for your parents. 💜
