I really don't know why more companies don't just integrate the fingerprint reader on the power button or at least back of the phone. I'd much rather have the reader be in a mildly incontinent spot than for it to be slow every time you use it. If you can't incorporate under the screen readers well then you shouldn't incorporate them at all.

The only thing I still think needs work is the fingerprint reader. It's just not reliable enough but other than that I have loved the phone. Sad to see so many others with no performance issues, I want Google to make a top their Pixel and I hope this is a step closer to that.

I also purchased my Pixel 6 Pro in January. The amount of bugs boils down to the widgets not working once and being solved after a restart. So with an average of 5 hours daily use I really can't complain about any bugs at all. I do miss face unlock but I also knew that and expected it before my purchase. I've had my P6 since November, and while I have not experienced many of the large bugs I hear about on this device, I do have persistent little bugs and nuances that remind me that it isn't perfect. None of these issues have made me wish I had another phone, the user experience has been phenomenal and I will likely want a pixel 8 or 9 in a few years. I have gotten two days of battery life with my usage since launch, now about 7 months in I may get to 10% around 6-8 PM at night of day 2 verus going to bed with 15-20%. I do notice the high network drain, but I am on wifi 95% of most of my days, so its never been an issue. I am sure if I was traveling more I would notice it more frequently.

I have a pixel 4a, and it has also been very buggy as it gets older. Just last month I had this awful experience where the time would change back and forth between daylight savings and standard, and that would even affect my manually set time. I've also been having similar issues with GPS and this fingerprint scanner is the least reliable one I've ever used on a phone EDIT: the SIM card issue turned out to be because of a couple of things. First of all the SIM card was first used on one of my phones before this one. Secondly AT&t was doing something and no longer supported older SIM cards. Thanks for the time going back and giving us your thoughts on this again. I've had a Pixel 6 since launch in UK and came from a Pixel 5. Also getting several bugs now. - Bluetooth music skip, yep get that. - Definitely missing the fingerprint sensor on the back from the 5. - auto brightness is so slow. If phone is in my pocket and I'm outside sunny day, (yes it does happen in the UK occasionally!). Phone rings, take out of pocket and will take a good 2 - 3 seconds (well feels like it) before I can see the screen to answer it. I can't remember the last time I had a phone that was that bad! - When using Google Maps for Sat Nav, this happens about 50% of time. I am currently using 3 button control (back, home, apps). After arriving at destination and pressing "done", the buttons don't always return which means your stuck in the the maps current screen. Screen off with power button and back on normally fixes this. On balance, I think it's the buggiest phone I've had in a long time. Only had Pixels (1, 3, 5 & 6), and Nexuses in the last 10 years.

I rocked a 3a for a while (when it was still fairly recent). I found the selling point for me- stock android, had slowly gotten worse and worse over time with more pointless changes to the ui. Gradually got harder to navigate, and ultimately just buggy as hell. Also, even after I answer a text my notification still shows the text there and that's a little annoying. Again though I'm on beta so I should be experiencing things like this. I’ve been a Pixel user since the 3 and as much as I love the phone and experience, I just can’t keep giving Google money for the quality of products they’re delivering. I wanted to love Pixel again after using Samsungs for the past few years. I've had my pixel 6 pro since launch and it still has a lot of issues like this video mentioned. A new issue that has started in the past 2 weeks is that my always on display is vanishing at night when I turn the lights off and go to bed. I have my phone next to my bed with alarms set, and use it as a clock. It makes it hard to use as a clock when the screen is just black. Not only is it just black, it is unresponsive to tap to wake and lift to wake. The phone will ONLY come back on if I push the power button. My quick rundown of other issues: -wifi calling drops calls or doesn't start dialing at all -bluetooth randomly disconnects from earbuds and car -randomly will lose network connection, only showing an exclamation mark -sometimes the screen is just unresponsive when trying to wake it up, like it doesn't know my finger or anything is touching the screen -hold for me, i hit answer, the person on the other end sometimes can't hear me talking -sometimes speakers will make a crackle noise when sound starts from a video or game I'm sure this phone has done other stupid things, but these are just off the top of my head. Very disappointed in Google. This should have been their big moment getting back to the high-end.

But I decided to risk it back then and now, 3.5 years later, I can say that this has been the best smartphone experience I've ever had (Used to be a Sony user). Yes, it has some minor bugs but nothing serious that I could mention. It seems like the Pixel phones are really bad in first batches and you shouldn't really pre-order them. NEVER. I bought my 2XL a year later of it's launch so you tell me. It really is a time to change my 2XL to something newer but, man, I don't know what to do now. It seams like I should wait for another year to get a stable version of Pixel 7 😂

I was using a 2xl too, and I would buy it again if it had larger storage and modern specs. But I broke it last year and had to switched to a $200 range phone till last week and bought a pixel 6(not pro). Pixel 6 has been a major upgrade compared to both of those phones. I can hold it with a finger on the camera bump, almost like a ring pop. Bluetooth connection is faster and steady. The quick control in notification for home control and gpay is very convenient. The few things I wish Google woudl fix are... * Bring back the HDR toggle in the camera app - HDR is on by default, didn't find an option to turn it off. * Improve the fp reader - it is so bad that I've not been locking the phone as often as before, just so I don't have to deal with it. * Improve battery optimization - it heats up, not burning lv, but fairly warm, it's running games or camera with YT in the background, while doing the same thing on the 2xl wouldn't cause it to heat up.

I pre-ordered my 6 pro after years of loving my 3a xl and got it in mid October. Beyond the fantastic camera and cool new features, the bugs were abysmal. The worst for me by FAR was the thermal throttling, which had me reaching out to Google to no avail. My phone was lasting 5 hours on one charge. Finally, it seems the thermal throttling has been fixed or at least improved. The battery life feels much better, and I'm starting to finally enjoy this phone. One weird issue I've had since day one is the after pressing the power button to put the screen to sleep, if your finger touches the screen for even a millisecond, the phone unlocks in your pocket. Pretty dumb imo. I do feel more optimistic about the phone though, and I hope they continue fixing what should have been fixed before release. One simply cannot say Google didn't screw this up.

Sounds like CPU binning issues. I remember some of the android phones back in the day had 2 issues. Random reboots and sleep of death (the one wouldn't make up once it went to sleep and you had to reboot it). The custom ROM/kernel devs fixed it in their builds of Android by bumping the voltage up some for the lower clock speeds. The idea was the voltage was too low and the SOC couldn't come out of sleep or it would reboot. It's been a minute since I've seen either issue but I've seen it pretty often lately with this Lenovo tablet that I have.

Pixel3 was proof they do tech suppression and that they corruptly want you to move on and buy the next 1000$ phones for no reason (Pixel4, uhoh some things were worse,Pixel5, uhoh same thing). It was 'almost' the perfect phone, just unfortunate it was dealt with wrong, and purposefully suppressed to try to get people to upgrade. They also drop support so quickly soas to never have to deal with or fix existing issues, Pixel6 will likely be 'out of support' by 2024, and if you do have a normal problem their 'certified places' will say they no longer have parts and so on. Pixel6 is just the 1000$ one that is latest, tech suppressed, and finally 'catching up', it's basically almost the same except larger for no reason, and for the zooming abilities which have been added in fairly recently, they also clocked up the same CPU about 350MHZ after 5 years; it's still too much but also a useless amount. I find properly locking Pixel3 with Android10 or early 11 works well and LineageOS probably works better if you use that and know how to underclock the components or maek sure it never or rarely has issues. That 'may' even reduce and help the OLED screen issue that was seemingly not able to be stopped; because it is definitely overheat/voltage related. If you eliminate those things you can even use it with the official firmware but I think that the reality is people were wrong in diagnosing how to fix that. Pixel6 is just proof they have been doing tech suppression for years however, and Pixel4, with camera reviews and comparisons, they are going the wrong direction. They've been whining for years every Pixel phone has 'blurrier/worse' camera which is true, but they did at least add in better zooming. In fact if you compare component by component you will find Pixel6s are just 'larger' for no reason (more room for internal things too) and also is the same or worse. Again the only thing you are getting is like a camera zoom capability if you get the Pixel6. If you canget a 'working' 128GB Pixel3 you are basically getting hte Pixel6 and can flash it, and they are about 100-200$ but are more rare to find a better working one now. What everyone wants is a Pixel3 with no OLED issue and OEM unlocked on every single phone, with support, and use latest Androids or give ability to flash back to like Android11 or something if you don't even like the visuals. What they gave is a 1000$ pile of junk like the other phones and all of them break for no reason.

I believe many of the bugs that occurs on the Pixel 6 is due to the new Tensor core and the OS. I have a feeling that Google set rules on the OS that prioritize certain feature on the phone to the incorrect cores or the cores couldn't keep up with the instruction it is execute. For example, maybe the fingerprint sensor is set to low priority core (the slower, low power processing core) because it is always on but the instructions sent to it (sensor activates when the finger is on top of it, receive the fingerprint from the sensor, execute a security program to make sure the scanned fingerprint is real, compare the fingerprint to the one storage in the security vault, and then, when the fingerprint is verified, instruct the phone unlock and load the homescreen, which the instruction is set to the high power core) couldn't handle it. This is my assumption but, if this is true, the low power core is too slow to handle it and the hand off from low to high delays it longer.
@BillDaleyPSU
@BillDaleyPSU 2 года назад
I really don't understand this. I've had my P6P since late November and it's been great. The only issue at all was the fingerprint sensor sometimes not registering a print at the beginning but with every update it's gotten a little better. Now it works fine. It's an optical sensor so it's never going to be instantaneous like an ultrasonic, you need to leave your finger on the screen for a little bit. I'd like if the phone had face unlock just because I like that feature. Other than that I love this phone. Use it every day all day and it's been solid for me. Like someone else said, I wonder if there are bad batches out there to account for all the complaints?

Thanks for your thoughts/experiences. Just picked up the PIxel 6 (payments until the $600 is paid). I don't like fingerprint and auto brightness so I was glad to hear these were the larger complaints. Very happy that the transfer from an LG G7 ThinQ to Pixel 6 was fairy easy. All my data transferred and most of the apps. I would've stuck with LG because I like how customizable they were, user friendly, reliable, but are no longer being made and support for calling is running out. Here's hoping this one lasts more than 4 years (insert laugh track). All the best and God bless.

Yo. I’m kinda in the same boat. I’ve had my LG G7 ThinQ for about 3-4 years and need to upgrade because it’s constantly bugging out. I’m planning on getting the pixel 6 but just hope it’ll last like you said for at least 4 more years. How the phone so far?

@@adriangodinez4198 The phone itself is great. Learning Android 12 is an adjustment, but these kinds of tips & tricks videos helped get the settings to be much more manageable.

@@Aegelis ah okay. Thanks for the reply. I have no idea what version of Android my LG is on but it shouldn’t be to difficult to adjust to the new one

RIP LG. Upgraded to Pixel 3aXL from a LG V35. Downgraded hardware but better software. Looking at getting an s20 FE now

I'm switching from my G7 ThinQ and it feels like a downgrade no matter what phone I pick lol. I don't game, so all I care about is usability really and no phones have fingerprint sensors on the back anymore, headphone jacks are gone, every phone is 1080p (G7 Thinq is 1440p). Honestly wish I could keep my LG forever, RIP a legend.

Oh God. I wish I saw this video before. I had an S21 5G, working totally fine, but I was so intrigued by the Pixel. After two days, I just want to go back to the S21. Even small things: accessing quick features from the top (it takes one swipe and one tap to activate on the S21 but much more on the Pixel), double tap to lock is inexistent, screen mirroring is simply not possible with the Pixel, speaker quality, can't deactivate the sound of the camera shutter or the screenshot, (and it's heavy but that's my fault...). I could go on, but all these things are possible with the S21 out of the box! Anyone wants a Pixel 6 Pro? Lol

THANK YOU for updating! I've gone through 4 Pixel 6 Pros since launch and I'm so sick of giving this phone chances. First one bricked and legit died 6 days into ownership, second one got so buggy with calls that it would screech high pitched tones mid-call for minutes at a time, third has an endless amount of annoying quirks and bugs in software with RU-vid, the keyboard, WiFi calling, signal coverage on 5G, screen glitching, mega mega slowdown and mic filtering. I don't even want to stick with my 4th replacement. Not to mention they all have the world's worst finger print reader of any phone, such a mega letdown for my first Pixel. I think I'm just gonna go back to Samsung.

@@vonStalhein2 I thought my luck with LG phones was bad but this genuinely is a marvel of the bad luck lottery. I've never seen this so bad before.

Honestly I don't have all those problems with my pixel 6. Except signal that sometimes is bad. I just go air plane mode on and off and it's coming again.

It's actually true and thank you @mkbhd for talking about it. When I updated my pixel 4a to Android 12, the phone literally caught visible software bugs. Post update, the battery life got reduced from 5 hours of SOT to 4 hours. Opening and closing of the applications also got slower than it was before. And after the first security update the experience got even worse. The fingerprint reader went from instant unlocking to a noticeable 1 second gap between the pressing and unlocking. I reached out to Google, they said so much problems one solution, factory reset your phone. It didn't help too.

This is what I experienced on my Pixel 5 too. Android 11 was such a stable and mature system and the update to 12 just felt like a step down. It seems that a lot of the problems for the P6 do also come from Android 12 itself. I don't know why they released it when they obviously still had so much work to do on it but here we are ...

The have a 4a too and what fixes this is restarting the phone every 3rd day. Then it feels faster again but yeah this should not be a thing with pixel phones.

I'm still using my 2XL and it works very well. Not much to compare it to though, but I don't find it buggy or slow at all. Still does what I need it to do.

Personally, I always though the Pixel Pro was a ripoff at $900. The telephoto and 5G connectivity is just not worth the extra $250. I've been rocking the regular Pixel 6 since launch, and had like zero bugs.

I've been using the Google pixel 6 since release and it seems a lot less buggy than the pro. It has been awesome but I definitely run into the occasional bug more than my pixel 3 XL

A lot of the issues for cell and bluetooth connectivity seem to be more related to Android 12 in my experience. Every issue you talked about, have been happening with my Pixel 5a ever since the January Update.

I know my pixel 5 has had some issues with Bluetooth, sometimes keeping the phone in a boot loop. Updating my google apps in play store stops it, any Google apps that go out of date cause my phone to have weird issues... Been using my pixel 5 for ages now
