I just got my Pixel 7 today. So far it seems more refined than the 6. First thing I immediately noticed was the aluminum side rails and the aluminum camera bar makes the 7 feel way more premium. And it feels more thin too. So far no software bugs and thankfully no overheating. On my 6 quite a few times I felt like holding it that it was gonna melt my fingerprints off lol 🤣. The speakers are good (arent garb like the 6a/6 maybe 7 too), the screen's great, + the cam is extra to me. Its got double the RAM compared to my last device! Tho most useful feats, lie in the software-side.

The choice between the 7 for the size and the 7 Pro for the camera oddly mimics my own conundrum last year with the iPhone 13. I greatly preferred the 13 mini’s form factor and the matte aluminum over the stainless steel, but I really needed the 13 Pro’s extra camera abilities. I’m really finding myself interested in switching to the Pixel 7 (I’ve used a few of the A series Pixels before my current iPhones) and I’m finding once again I’m trying to decide between my preferred size (and cost) in the 7 vs the larger, more camera capable 7 Pro.

I feel somewhat alone in the fact that I like these more iterative phones this year. It's part of why I've decided to jump into the Fold 4, and very seriously considered the Pixel. I loved the ideas introduced in last years' versions, but I felt like they were unfinished, so seeing those ideas further refined for this year gives me some (probably naïve) confidence. Every year doesn't have to be a huge overhaul. Sometimes, "the same but better," is all I really need.

I've made a huge change from the Sony Xperia 5iii to the 7 pro + Pixel Watch. The 7 pro is not as big as I thought it would be. As soon as I put a case on the 7pro, the curved screen is not an issue for me. I'm a camera guy and blown away at the detail you get from even the 30x cropped telephoto. My only issue at the moment is that any audio seems to be right heavy on landscape. The Sony gave me perfect stereo from both sides when watching in landscape, the 7 pro is about 70% louder on the right (bottom by charging port) and no options to fine tune.

I went for the Pro. I've had it less than a week and I've already used both the 30x zoom and macro modes. I don't know how often I'll use them, but having them is a great safety net, especially as someone who's nearsighted. I'm getting used to the size of it, and frankly I'm not sure I'll go back to a smaller phone after the 7 Pro. The only thing I'll say I miss about my old 4a is the ability to swipe on the rear fingerprint sensor to show my notification shade. Other than that, I'm very happy with my purchase. I don't mind the curved screen, and I always put a case on my phones, so the glossy finish isn't an issue either.

@@tylerblack9108 I'm not suggesting they put a 4x zoom in the Pixel 7, 2x zoom should be the bare minimum for a phone costing 600 bucks. The user should have all lenses at their disposal and shouldn't have to settle. Want more reach? Get the Pro. 2x is 2018 tech, so it's not adding another 200 bucks to the bill of materials. It can and should be done. Nothing can replace genuine optical zoom, not even Google's secret camera software voodoo magic sauce. Each to their own.

@@ahmedbebars6844 pixel 6/7 are value kings already. Adding that telephoto adds cost, they aren't going to use a lense from 2018, profit margins for the 6 are probably quite slim and they don't sell close to what Samsung sell so manufacturing costs are no doubt higher. You're not complaining about the iPhone 14s lack of a telephoto? And Apple has an established supply chain and years in the chip producing segment, Google is outsourcing all of this from it's competitors, somehow enough just isn't enough, and despite its lack of a telephoto the pixel 7 will still likely go on to finish 1st or top 3 cameras of its generation, and again like last year he crowned value king and the ultimate all rounder at its price point, it's effectively competing with the top teir offerings

Have had a P6Pro since launch day in the US. No issues. No modem problems. No "5G destroying my battery" issues. No finger print sensor being too slow, not working, etc. No buggy UI. Not once has it "crashed" or shown signs of problems. It just works and works real well. It's still smooth, doesn't feel slowed down. My only issue (which I thought I would get used to it) is the overall size. It's more problematic for most daily use like email, text, quick lookup, general tasks.... but it is perfect for media, editing photos/video. But since the former takes up more of the day, it's something to consider. I wish they could cram all those cameras and screen refresh hardware into a much smaller form factor :) that would sweet.

My biggest complaint is that the 6 doesn't have the extra camera. There's a reason the smaller iPhone pro models are one of the best sellers. iPhone pro and pro Max both have the same features apart from the screen and battery size. There might be a small difference in their cameras but so minor that the majority of people aren't going to care. And some of the telephoto shots from the 7 Pro haven't been that great. As big of an android fan as I am, I still think that the iPhone is still top dog when it comes to the cameras. It's the most consistent. Google is constantly changing things while Apple sticks with what works and just slowly improves it year after year. There are certain instances where the Pixel will out perform the iPhone in still photos but iPhones are just consistently better.

Update. I've had the phone for a month. The camera is amazing, and even the video. Translates well to desktop editing as well. Everything else though, my 4 year old oneplus 7t is better or as good as. The pixel is SUPER finicky with USB c to USB a cables. Chargers that were working with other phones simply don't supply charge. The 30w fast charge isn't really that fast. They should've bundled a charger because you're going to drop at least 28$ to get a USB c charger that has a higher rating. The battery is quite pathetic until you turn off 5G which seems to defeat the point. Snappiness and ram performance were not better than my OnePlus. Bugs are still a thing with this phone in 2022 and the fingerprint scanner is one of the worst I've seen in a modern smartphone, I have to put in the code for 'extra security's about half the time. Face unlock will destroy your battery

Here is my running list on what Pixel 7 Pro (or rather newest line up and newest OS does NOT have: 1. After taking a picture, quick view requires you to have Google Photos installed/enabled (even if you have Google Gallery or other 3rd party gallery installed). 2. No "double tap" to turn off the screen 3. Traking screenshot is either hardware buttons, or task manager and clicking "screenshot" option there (why not gesture Google?) 4. Adjusting the size of the font and size of the icons are applied across home screen, app drawer and settings menu (weird) 5. "NAILED" to the home screen is calendar in the odd upper left area... cannot be removed... DUMB 6. "NAILED" to the home screen is google search bar - even if you are not using it, nope, gotta stay there... DUMB 7. Task manager does not have immediate "Close All" upon opening it... you have to swipe all the way to the left to get to it 8. Multiple icons in a folder on home screen look crowded, rather vertically positioned, not horizontally 9. Wi-Fi switch requires to bring down notifications, click Internet then get to on/off switch... why change this from what it was before? 10. Finger print reader is positioned little bit too high considering the size of the phone (specifically 7 Pro version) 11. Brightness slider (within notifications menu down) is rapidly blinking if you move it to adjust brightness manually 12. Fast charging is really no fast charging: marketed as 30W charger, is actually 23W and 0-100% charging time is 1hr and 52mins... (slower than a Hummer EV ona fast charger btw... 13. Smart Unlock only works with trusted devices (paired BT devices, etc.) and smart places (home address but approximated - within 125 meters range (or ~400ft) around your house. It does not offer trusted networks (once connected to WiFi, then allowing it) - why not Google?? 14. No hardware slider switch for mute-vibrate-ring selection 15. No option to put camera for a quick access on the lock screen of the phone. 16. Keyboard does not stretch all the way to the sides, causing typos all over the place - slightly curved edges serve no purpose. 17. Camera quality does not justify such big rear camera bar that is sticking out... not designed the way it could be designed. 18. When watching RU-vid, sound is not properly equalizied - bottom of the screen speaker is noticeably louder. 19. PIN code is asked for too often after I use my fingerprint to unlock the phone - no option to adjust this, or turn it off. 20. PIN code requires you to click "ENTER" arrow after typing it on the screen. 21. When you open app, clicking back (to home screen) shows a quick blink of the app icon across the half of the screen on the phone... I have sadly hoped Pixel 7 Pro was going to be it... but unfortunately it spend just a few days in my posession and was returned for a refund... they still have work to do...
