Fun fact: You can use navigation without internet connection because gps works with satelites. You just need to download offline maps for your local region
Probably the best review of the Pixel 7 I've seen yet, thank you! You appeared to do an honest and un-biased review and that is much appreciated, especially in this world of Samsung and Iphone snobs! It's very refreshing to see someone who realizes you DON'T have to spend $1,000-$1,800.00 for a smartphone with near flagship features and specs! I got the (standard) Pixel 6 when it was released in the Fall of 2021 and really thought it would be a device I would keep for at least 5 years, but the Pixel 7 has enhanced the workings of the phone and upgraded just enough of the important aspects which will have me upgrading to it this Fall. Once again, thank you for the excellent review!
I have the pixel 7 pro coming from Samsung for the last 10 years. Im in love, stock Android is beautiful, no bloat, the phone is 100% butter smooth. The battery is okay but I only have this phone since 1 day, apparently AI will enhance the battery life over time. Also this is the only phone where I ever used adaptive brightness and it's amazing. But yeah since I have a 26.000 mAh Powerbank from Anker with 65w pd I never need to worry about battery life anyways, I can recharge the phone over 4 times with it lol.
I have an unlocked North American Pixel 7 pro; a GREAT phone; BUT BUYER BEWARE. Google perhaps stupidly or in a self-defeating manner, blocks 5G connections to much of Europe and Asia. If you are a mobile warrior or professional who travels often.... AVOID this phone as well until Google addresses this outrageous issue. My friends with Iphones and Samsungs do not face the same issues.
1 thing that may interest you: Android 14 beta has seemingly improved battery life for multiple devices, including the Pixel 7. I myself have also noticed a small improvement.
Thanks for this, was on the fence about picking this up as I've heard horror stories about the pixel 6, but the fact that you still think this is a solid af phone after having it as long as you have has convinced me. Thank you for such an in-depth review, it really covered what I was curious about in the phone itself.
Had mine for a month, excellent value phone, very happy with it. I decided to upgrade to Pixel 7 from iPhone X - I could not justify paying double for an iPhone with worse specs..it makes no sense. Glad I made the switch. I don't have any battery issues as some describe.
The camera is very good, perfectly fine. No complaints. I don't think you will find a better phone for this price. It's honestly a good deal, it is less than half the price of the iPhone 14 but better hardware. Enjoy@@shivamsuryawanshi6739
Very cool to hear. And I did a similar comparison with the Iphones before I got the Pixel 7. But in the end I really could not justify paying more than twice for not even better hardware in many areas.
Same here! Bought the pixel 7 and sold my 14 pro. Battery on point same screen on time as the 14 pro maybe even half and hours + . If you like the phone Just buy One these rewiews are getting out of hand
I love my pixel I have the 6 for my work phone and iPhone 14 pro for my personal phone I love the Google pixel because of the screen call feature service and holding my place for calls. The only issue I have is the phone can get extremely hot at times and that even when I have all my apps closed out but overall I am satisfied with it I may upgrade to 7a but I will wait for pixel 8 hopefully google will fix the issue
I saw one in Currys, I found the display a bit dim in manual standard brightness 😔 I then looked at a Samsung A34 and found that display much more appealing and brighter ( considering the A34 is a lower end device I was quite surprised by it's display quality)
This is a really good phone overall. Most phones today are overkill. You dont need an iphone promax to just scroll through social media and make tiktoks.
Tired of companys following bad trends. Anti consumer trends. If i start a phone company charger and headphones case and screen protector all in the box. This bs needs to stop
It's a pretty nice review that you have performed with a calm and relaxing presentation of all the pros and cons. You took pause and put words which makes more sense better than every other RU-vidrs who are trying to pretend to be warm, energetic, and enthusiastic. Happy to see your video and happy means...
Once upon a time we walked the Earth with a pocket full of nickels for the phone on the corner, a watch on your wrist, a pencil, a small calculator, an envelope or two, postage stamps, a road map even a small transistor am/fm radio and if you were headed somewhere special you bought along your polaroid camera and extra flash cubes.
Only major negative I've had with Pixel 7 is lack of 5g support in my country (absolutely ridiculous). Minor negatives - had to buy new PD charger because old charger worked sometimes and then didn't. Picture-in Picture for RU-vid only works via browser work-around, and weirdly via the app for one obscure RU-vid channel that I spend most of my time with. This is common to most Android phones now because Google wants you to pay for RU-vid Premium, but my old Honor still allows it.
Very good review. I have the 7pro after living with the 6 for a year. I had a software issue with my first 7pro but this was handled and dealt with very quickly by Google. I have now had no 2 for longer than No1 with NO issues. I am 100% happy with the phone and service by Google.
Hey brother, GREAT REVIEW! Sunt pe cale să-mi achiziționez și eu zilele astea un pixel 7 și aș vrea o ultimă opinie referitor la experiența ta cu acest model! Really appreciate the video!💯✌️
Thanks Mihai for this seemingly very honest and open review. Well thought out, I really feel like you've actually used this phone for months (which I don't get from other reviews). You convinced me to go for the Pixel 7, but I'll wait for Black Friday for a nice discount. Thanks again!
Thanks a lot man, glad you found it useful! :) And checking out the new prices of the Pixel 8, Yeah I'd say a Pixel 7 on discount is probably the sweetest deal to find.
such an amazing review - crisp and clean - could you please also share your perspective on the haptics of this phone - i have heard this phone has one of the best haptics - but would love to know your thoughts on it 😊
Thank you very muchi! And I gotta say the haptics feel just right. They don't stand out at all, which I guess is a good thing right? Being very seamless.
I just picked up a refurbished model for $379CAD ($279USD)!!! It only has a couple of tiny marks on it, and otherwise feels 100% new. For that price, it feels like a total steal. Really enjoying it so far, its a big upgrade over my outgoing Xiaomi Mi 9t (although that was a beast in its own right.)
In terms of the design I'm probably in the minority but I prefer the look of the 6 to the 7 I liked the 2 tone colours the glass camera bar all I didn't like is the gloss and how slippery it is which they've only just gone away from with the 8pro but kept the solid colour well my 6p is great I'll stick with that see what they do with the 9
I currently have the samsung s20 FE 5G. I don't know if its defective or what, but the camera is awful. It always has a blurry halo around whatever I'm taking a picture of. I'm really leaning towards a Pixel 7 as an upgrade! :D
Nice to hear, im about to shift to pixel 7 from realme 8, tomorrow im getting the phone as i purchased in at online, it is getting delivered to me next day, i was super excited about my new pixel 7
@@katinasoutherland7693 I had a samsung s8+ (Or whatever it was called) and I thought it took great pictures. Then I "upgraded" to this samsung s20 FE and it's awful. I still haven't upgraded my phone, but, I'm leaning heavily to the Pixel!
Im loving my pixel 7 Pro no complaints. And obviously the camera 📸 is great. If I ever come up with an issue I will address it until then its all good 💯💯💯💯
Not a serious issue necessarily, but it'll age the battery faster & not help with performance... Still a good phone though! Might be worth waiting for P8 if you're worried about that one :)
Glad i came across this. I was an iphone user for 10 years. 2 years ago i switched back to samsung .. im due for an upgrade in a month or so .. and im just wanting something different from iphone or samsung. Im seriously considering the pixel 7 .. however im also tempted to wait for the 8 .. so thats where im stuck at right now.
Details have started to come out about the Pixel 8. So far though I don't expect a whole lot to change, mostly improvements directly related to the new, more powerful processor. Might as well wait though :)
Although I love the phone for what it offers it's just not good enough. For heavy users the battery is just bad. Charging is slow, there are always issues that come with every new update and it's the matter of luck whether you get a problem free phone. Hoping that 8 will be improvement.
Since my July update on my 7 pro ,100% is about 21 hours total, and I can usually get about 8 - 9 hrs of screen on time.. google did right by this update
Hi Mihai, Amazing review man. Just wanted to know any heating issue that you noticed after prolonged usage as there are a lot of complaints for Pixel 7a.
I’ve been an apple user for decades. But their phones always look the same and the experience always feels the same. I want to try something different. So today I ordered this pixel 7. Was on sale new on Amazon today for 449 usd. Excited to try it. I’ll keep my 13 pro max just incase but I’m getting bored with apple
@@aliciaclark617 you gotta sign up for the beta thru Google then download the beta for your phone after it's pretty easy. But Android 14 released on the 8th so you don't have to do it anymore unless you want to try out the beta for other reasons
About 10 months now. And well if you want the bigger display and x5 zoom lens go with Pixel 7 Pro. Otherwise there aren't really any notable differences.
Hi Mihai, great review it helped me a lot. Just one question, is it worth to buy it now?? I have the budget for the pixel 7 and pixel 8 will obviously gonna be on higher side in terms of cost.
Hey man, thanks a lot! You might wanna wait. True the Pixel 8 might come in pricier but maybe the Pixel 7 will get discounted further when the 8 is launched. Cheers!
iI have used pixel 7 for one year. Everything is working great except the battery. The phone runs out battery in 3 days with less use. If active use such as gps, it will run out in half day.
Tough choice! Hardware-wise I don't think you can justify all the extra money for the Pixel. So I'd say pick the Pixel only if the Computational photography and minimalistic looking software present on it are important to you. Otherwise the S21 FE is more than adequate for sure.
Fair point. I wouldn't say it's got a bad selfie cam at all, what i noticed is the minimum focus distance is pretty big. So if you're close to it it'll be focused on the background instead of you
@@MihaiStrömpl true. Makes your face very smooth , without any details. And battery is average, plus i live in a relative high temperature country so heating issue is there too and sometimes it touches 50°C while im just watching some youtube.
Pixel 7 was the perfect phone for me for about a week... Great performance but the battery life was awful... Never even made it through half a day! And this is with the phone sitting in my pocket not being used for hours... If they fix the battery life on the pixel 8 I'm sure to buying instead of the pro model. Google really needs to differentiate the 7 from the 7a a bit more on their next generations, same way apple does it with their pro phones!
Weird, because mine with active usage lasts easily for a full day and even more sometimes. I use mine A LOT. Perhaps, you have bad network services in your region.
@@_Joel_ if you have a bad carrier your phone will be struggling to search for the network all the time. I had this problem in Ireland in the small city. Now I live in Canada and have no problems with battery life
I got the 7A. Most of what you said here applies to the 7A as well. You didn't mention the #1 con - the charging speed is just unacceptably slow, with overnight charging now mandatory. If you forget to do so, you'll not survive the next day without some panic.
Yeah that's a good point. It is super slow to charge and so you're right in the morning. If you forgotten to charge it when you wake up, you're in trouble
My older pixel died because of CPU core warming or something like that. So my main concerns is that these Tensor CPUs are not well optimized. They warm a lot until they fail in 2 years.
Well sadly Google stopped support for our pixel 3a phones (very good phone with excellent camera). After considering again android Vs apple we bought the pixel 7a phones at a fantastic price (Christmas 2023). They will arrive in the next few days. Your video just reconfirmed for me that the pixel was the right decision. Thanks.
Ive had a pixel 7 dor many months now and i dint think its worth the £450ish i paid. Ever since the latest update I've had a massive problem with battery drain while using 5G. If its turned on tye mobile gets extremely hot too. Never used to be an issue. The finger print sensor under the screen isnt great. Reularly doesnt recognize my finger print and only works in one particular way despite having mapped my entire finger print. Also if you use at night and you dont get your finger print spot on the sensor you get blinded by the bright white light. Also annoyingly if using a 4 PIN code as backup into phone instead of unlocking when you enter the correct 4 numbers you have to then press the confirm button which is an extra button. Doesnt sound like it should be annoying but it is when you have to use it quite often. Facial recognition to unlock mobile isnt great either. Basically my Honor Play had better ones of each of these and that mobile is like 5 years old or so. Also finger print sensor doesnt work when finger gets wet so out in the rain or even after a shower when the fingervis dry its hit n miss. There are other issues too but im thinking of switching phones
Sorry to hear about your experience with it, but definitely good input to have. One small side note, I am using it on 4G LTE as 5G on the Pixel isn't supported here, maybe that why I'm not experiencing battery issues or overheating too much. And the fingerprint reader is decent but not the best out there indeed, partly why I have both face detect & the fingerprint combo activated, but it's not something that bothered me too much.
It's an amazing deal for 500. I agree with your sentiments, I think too many people are comparing it to flaship models like the s23 etc @@youdontseeanoldmanhavinatw4904
Rocking the 9h spigen screen protector and 10/10 fingerprint WORKING. Battery Life about 6h sot. Was very sceptical before buying It cause of the rewiews but at the end of the day the rewiews are bs
well said, Leo. I also saw through all the bs. It's a solid phone, Google are eating into Apple's market share with this, dragging people over to Android. It worked with me, this is my first Android phone since 2013. Back then, Android was slow and buggy compared to iphones. I am very happy with the progress that has been made since then, hence the switch. @@LeonidasTheKingOfSparta
For me it is impossible to use this phone with 5G, overheats, camera wont allow clicking or recording videos, and you can see battery percentage going down, It's a perfect phone if you're mostly on WiFi
That's interesting. Do you have any issues with the camera if you don't use 5G (and if its not overheating)? If you still experiencing it, I'm thinking it might be something wrong with your particular phone.
@@MihaiStrömpl all good if i turn off 5G, and I'm using this phone with LTE only, still its a phone that costs $599 and had to turn off 5G to use it, lol , it does heatsup in video calls, that's the only scenario for overheating other than 5G, My colleague has a P7P and its the same with him as well, so its not with my particular unit
I love it! It was a big upgrade when I upgraded from the Samsung Galaxy s10e. It's features and blow the iPhone away. That is a very good phone. Also, on the refurbished market nobody buys a phone brand new unless you're in the suburbs. Everybody buys the phone this 2 years older to come out. Do Verizon or T-Mobile for way cheaper? I'll buy refurbished. I bought it refurbished excellent and it is excellent. It looks brand new. I'm blown away by its features. Its features are not on any other phone. It is a very flagship phone. The consumer has missed the game up like a iPhone. It's made in China. It cost about $80 to produce and people will pay $800 and it's not worth that. No phone is worth that
I am thinking of picking Pixel 7. It's half the price of Pixel 8 and iphone 15. I am using OnePlus 6 and I don't think I can keep it for another year. I just want it to be reliable. Pixel 7 is a great deal.
@@MihaiStrömplThank you. I've never had a phone that does wireless charging but currently the 7 is on sale - down from $AU999 to $AU699 for the 128GB version. Might need to research wireless chargers. I saw a review of the 7 where it showed it on a Google charger which looked nice.
The standby drain is horrible, the phone feels like a brick (heavy and thick), charging speeds are slow af and the screen could be better. I even have barely any apps installed. I just use my phone for spotify, some photos and a few youtube videos. The only thing thats keeping me from buying a S23 is the pixel camera and the software.
I just got my pixel 7 a couple weeks ago and had the same issues you were having battery drain on stand by doing nothing over heating battery I dealt with that for a day then decided to install Android 14 beta after doing some research and it has solved all the issues I was having I recommend you do the same might also fix your issues.
@@lonegamer6454 well I just installed the beta yesterday. It's kinda the same. It has more to do so with the chip. It's just a downgrade to what I had previously.
@@asdfghjklaa784 I would still hold out hope for the full release of 14 on October 8th. I agree the new silicon is not mature you might have got a bad batch of silicon as well who knows. I upgraded from the pixel 3a xl so it's a world of difference for me but if you came from like a Samsung S20 or 21 I can see your point
@@youdontseeanoldmanhavinatw4904 I have the Pixel 7 and the speakers are quite bad, thin sounding and with distortion on higher volume. Many other owners have the same experience. They really sound cheap. My point of comparison is my old iPhone 12 and it sounds much fuller.
What about the heating issues? Is that still a thing or did google resolve it? I'm thinking of getting a Pixel 7. Also, how much screen on time are you getting?
I'd say I'm getting around 5h screen on time, plus or minus 30min. Also I wouldn't say it's getting too toasty. Sure it gets warm when you use it but I really don't think it's a problem at all
@@abhijithu6766I have a pixel 7, but if I had the extra money to spend, I'd probably get a Nothing 2. The pixel 7 was simply more affordable by 100 or 200 dollars depending on where.
I’m just confused between the Pixel 7 and nothing phone 2. Currently I use a Pixel 4a which is great, just that battery has aged and I am not getting a full day battery life.
Hello , i have bought pixel 7 28th sep i used 4 days till now but i have seen proximity and under display fingerprint sensor in sunlight when am using the phone. Is that issue or not ?
Awesome! Congrats on the purchase. And yes that's totally normal, it is visible in certain direct sunlight conditions, and makes it an interesting sight lol.
Hey really nice job on the review. And I really like my pixel 7. I would say the downside to it is battery life is just okay, but if your person that's on data all day, you're going to struggle to make it through a day. If you're a person on Wi-Fi and data, you can probably be all right. Oh yeah, one mother thing that charging is really slow. I mean really slow.
I'm using this phone since a year and is amazing...in photos the best...in camera not the best but among the best.... battery is average and I like it ...screen is very pure not incredible but pure....in browsing internet or whatever I think the best...gaming is very good ....audio is the best....in hand this smartphone feels practical and incredible...I think thos smartphone is the king overall
@@abhijithu6766For me yes. Like even using messenger or casual browsing. I'm not even a gamer. I'm on wifi not data and have updated to latest system update. Hopefully it gets better over time but for now I'm putting screen protector on and case so I can trade it for when there's a better affordable phone like this again. Everything's fine except battery and overheating.
The worst experience with a cellphone I ever have had. It is the perfect smartphone if it works. Mine 7 pro started to keep losing network. This is well well-known non-repairable failure which OEM does not want to speak about. The only solution is to replace the motherboard. Lesson learnt. Never again. As there are no big choices between HW and software makers (only Google and Apple) the option is currently only one - iPhone.
I haven't experienced that. Network is solid on this, especially when compared to the Pixel 6. That being said, you can't use 5G in a big portion of the world sadly.
