I have been playing golf (trudging round the course swearing) for around thirty years. I have had several video lessons and they didn't really improve my game. I am constantly watching youtube videos by several pro's and managed to get myself so confused I bit the bullet and had another lesson. My pro video'd me from front and rear and within four shots had me striking my driver pure and straight. I told him about what I was doing and he said that sometimes the you tube instructions could have sent me the wrong way. He advised me to have another lesson on the course (i'd played several times after the first lesson and was all over the place) Simon set me up again , explained where I was going wrong and the drives became long and straight once again. After explaining all that, my advice is to go and get at least two lessons, it may be a bit expensive but I found it well worth it. GO TO YOUR PRO!

Still think that the problem is more likely to be the flat takeaway (see 5:48 where the golf club looks to move below the angle of the right forearm - although I'm not sure about the camera angle) which flattens the shoulder turn and forces the spine angle movement, rather than a balance thing. The app looks good but people are more complicated than a single drill can fix James - love the channel. More!

Watched this video and checked it out myself on 18 birdies. Man this was pretty eye opening. It identified 6 issues to work on on the down the line swing and 3 issues on my face on swing. Most of them are things I knew I struggled with but it was great to get the lesson plan on how to fix it! Plus after doing the plan for a week I’ll do another video and see what issues still remain and I’m picking up anything new. I’m pretty excited!

New tech is always better than no tech, old swing tips can be new all over again when applied via new tech so as to see and understand better. It's a win win, and as always to remember " golf is hard ". Good stuff James thanks.

Took lessons twice a week with a PGA pro last winter when the courses were closed (winter in Canada sucks) for the first time in my life at age 40. Best decision I ever made. In person instruction is invaluable if you love the game and want to improve.

Good video. Great training app. Easy to use and looks effective and advantageous.

I have been struggling with shanking the golf ball over the last month and working with a golf professional at my local club. Issue came from stack and tilt method, however thought I’d try the AI app. Took video and worked hard on the drills all morning. Result. No shanks and pure strike. Will be keen to see if progress continues.

Definitely would like to see more.

I’m lucky because my nephew is a pga pro so he looks at my game regularly but if I can’t get to him then this does look like a great app to download and use Excellent demonstration video James

Ive downloaded the app and its a really great way to learn more about gold for a lot less! Im a beginner and already from the swing analysis I have dropped my score down by 7 in 3 days!!! would love to see the progression blog and the driver one too!!

Currently having lessons, my issues have been locking lead leg and head moving up way to much on swing, have improved dramatically over the last 2 weeks

Hi James, I wish I could find a cure for loosing width at the top of the backswing. Maybe this app will help. Anyway, Maiya is also an occasional guest on Golfholics. I think it would be fun to see a collab with you and them. Thanks for sharing.

That is a great app. Maybe not for everyone, and it does require some technical ability to video yourself (trying to teach my 84 year old Dad to do this does not bear thinking about). I have been taking lessons for a while to completely rework my swing with some great results. Currently working on straightening out my lead leg as I start the downswing - very hard as I have 40 years of doing it wrong

The UI (user interface) looks very good how good are the lessons? Have you ever looked at Larry Cheung and his swing thoughts?

I used the 18 birdies app and it gave me the same things to work on, spine angle and head movement. I noticed my swing was lower rated down the line and a higher rating face on.

Well..... went for a lesson a couple of weeks ago, was striking the ball well before the lesson, went to warm up and developed the shanks 🙈🙈

My playing partner identified the same issue for me on the course on Friday. We don’t see ourselves (obviously) and this would be great to identify issues before they become a problem and between lessons. Shame the App has still to update the card and GPS of Wetherby GC otherwise I would have subscribed already.

seems to work and is very clever , however it assumes there's only one way to swing a club and some of us may not be able to swing like a pro , what would it make of jim furyk, Eammon Darcy ( if you can remember him) or matt Wolf or even DJ !!. ,sometimes all we need is someone to tell us how to make the best out of a bad lot!, something most coaches unfortunately either won't or can't do.

I tried 18 birdies premium coaching and it identified my swing problems but the fixes weren't good - it said had I thought about playing bowls! 😁 [Joke BTW]

Need to get a lesson to stop slicing driver, irons straight as , can’t figure it out myself 🏌️‍♂️
