I am so excited (and thankful!) that I am getting this done finally, I am exhausted from all the hand watering and I cannot keep up with my plants! My containers need so much continuous watering and I need to save some time somewhere to get everything in my water the maintenance required to thrive!
As many of you know, I love hand watering but this year is definitely pushing my limits, the heat has been CRAZY intense and I have to water almost daily!

When I saw the title of this video I started laughing because I’m right there with you. We just got home from 5 days of camping and my hydrangeas were dropping leaves and the annuals looked terrible even though I had someone watering. No one loves my garden like me. I’ve been researching drip ever since. Thanks for sharing and have a great day 🇨🇦👩‍🌾🌸

Great job problem solving! I don’t have anything in my garden that isn’t on drip, even my containers…thankfully! One suggestion: watering consistently every day for less time has served my plants better. I think you’re going to find that 65 minutes is too much. I’m zone 8a and I have mine set for 25 minutes at 5am every 24 hours. Good luck and I’m happy you have that task done!

Love what you did and showed. Thought this couldn’t be too difficult, but it was still a mystery as to how to do it. Don’t know if I will attempt it, but you have given me food for thought and I love, as a fellow gardener, albeit a senior, the possibility that I could do this with a little help. I do know that squirrels have eaten through the tubing in a neighbors house, so this gives me pause. But, the set up at the faucet is the important thing, and one could always replace the tubing. Once installed, repeating might not be too difficult. Thanks again.

I was going to put in a watering system last year and didn't do it (felt intimidated) and was sorry this summer with our 100 degrees for weeks at a time in Arkansas Seeing what you did gives me courage to try it now, even with a flower garden full of growing plants. Have to see if I already have a water regulator on hand, then will start measuring the garden. Problem is I have plants that like water next to plants that like it on the drier side (poor planning), that's why I watered by hand. But it's worth a try to save a lot of time for other garden chores. Thanks.

Oh Roxanna, you will find drip irrigation is a real eye opener. I am 77 and set up mine first in a raised vegetable garden then as I added flower beds. I watched several You Tube channels. I run one side of the house at 7 am for 25 minutes and the other side at 8 am for 25 minutes mostly everyday unless we get a lot of rain. I use the solid black and add emitters and also brown with built in emitters. It saves me hours of work. And I add my potted plants using 1/4” lines with different size emitters.

@@SoilandMargaritas I'm in 9b CA so summers are hot. Here's the guide I created & scheduled my timers for grass (30 min), flowers, bushes & sapling trees (60 min). All plants have gph emitters and are beautiful in these scorching hot days. 90+ degrees = 3x a week. 70-89 degrees = 2x a week. 50-69 degrees = 1x a week. A hedge I planted 2 years ago now needs larger emitters, so shrubs need to be watched for when to switch out their gph. I buy mostly 1 and 2 gph emitters and several rolls of 1/4" drip line with 6" drip spacing. My main drip line is 1/2" pvc drip that I buy in a roll of 100' or 500'. The only thing left to buy are the Lil connectors for 1/4" & 1/2" drip lines. I have 3 electric timer stations ea with multiple zones and a battery operated timer I use for several saplings I planted at the same time. My next goal is to switch out the electric timers for ones that are web enabled so I can control watering from devices-nice for when I'm traveling. I love that I can leave anytime for any length and trust that my gardens are being watered!

Your garden looks amazing considering that roofing went on above it! I was worried about your boxwoods, but they still look great. You’re right, in a few weeks no one would even know anything happened. Our minds are totally in sync! I have been looking at irrigation-and ran into that same problem. I think a swivel will work for us too. Can’t wait to tell my husband about it. We’ve actually had a lot of rain in July. I’ve only had to water the garden once. It can be as simple as using a regular hose to get the water far away and then using that for your system. I’m

I really need to do this too. Do you have any paved walkways between your water source and your gardens? I have a paved walk from my garden gate to my patio. I think I would need to run the tubing over it since it is a concrete walk. Any ideas?

On the one bed I installed the single emitters one (2 years ago) I have stepping stones, I removed a couple stones to make a line go under but I have seen people do sorta the same thing for a concrete path… just a bit more involved, I’m pretty sure garden answer has a video where she showed how to do that .

@@SoilandMargaritas thank you. I'll see if I can find Laura's youtube about running drip under a paved walk.

What do you do in the winter with the drip irrigation?

I will take my timer in the garage and (somehow) empty the tubing to be safe in the winter.

If you just remove the timer and store it, leave the pipes open , everything takes care of itself. Hook it up In the spring, check for leaks and you are ready to go.
